i discovered this thing on my own when playing with mercury and game adapter at home. i stole 1 kg of mercury and put some in glass of water. and did this experiment when i was 12, now i am seeing this there.

Huh, I figured the Mercury would be swirling around more like a little vortex. I suppose perhaps it would if the wire were held still? Have you tried this, it may look kinda cool, like a little silver tornado.
The hell??? What are you talking about?!?!?!? The only place where Mercury is outright illegal is Swedan, although there are certain enviromental laws regulating how much Mercury can be allowed in enviroment & how it is stored. Most scientists by the way think that the ban in Swedan is rediculous. Mercury in and of itself is not poisonious. In extreamly large amounts its vapors can bond with o2 and become dangerous. This is what happened to Old World Hatters who breathed this for decades.
@endimion17 No just dyslexic, if you referring to my misspelling, that is. Why do you mention Mercury Vapor Combining with Oxygen as if there's something wrong with that however? Metallic mercury is not poisonous, but it is very readily and naturally bonded into compounds and alloys. This is why its vapor is quite poisonous when it bonds almost immediately with the Oxygen of air.
Mercury vapor will not react with oxygen at room temperature. It is quite inert, that's why spilled sample can stay intact for decades.
Metallic mercury IS poisonous, but much less than soluble compounds. It is a cumulative poison. It enters the body primarily via alveoli. Only small fraction of it is absorbed, and then is being excreted for a long time, during which it interferes with the nervous system.
@endimion17 No not Disgraphia, Dyslexia. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke defines dyslexia saying: "...Although the disorder varies from person to person, common characteristics among people with dyslexia are difficulty with SPELLING, phonological processing (the manipulation of sounds), and/or rapid visual-verbal responding." [emphasis is mine] Although Dysgraphia can involve spelling problems it is primarily associated with a deficiency in HandWRITING skills....
It's a simple homopolar variant. I've got the same setup sitting on my workbench but haven't gotten around to videoing it yet.
May I suggest using GalInStan instead of mercury? The eutectic alloy of Gallium, Indium and Tin is liquid at room temperature, has extremely low vapor pressure (unlike mercury) and is non-toxic--a concern when high amperage arcs boil off metal...
@TinselKoala Sweet! Im just 13 and I have been studying superconductivity and superfluxiation I can't spell today Anyway veary cool but is it possible to make it perpetual? right now I am trying to find ways for levitation like acoustic levitation and superconductivty (I did an entire science project on superconductivity)
It hasn't seemed to bother any of the copper wires I've been using it with. It does "wet" stuff much better than mercury does, so maybe with long-term exposure it might alloy with the copper. I'll look into it, thanks.

mercury is highly illegal if you see someone with mercury report them to the proper authority

@frankensteinmoneymac Swedan? Rediculous? Extreamly? Mercury vapor combining with oxygen? What are you, an American?

That alloy would likely dissolve the copper wire in no time.
