Somebody is reallllly out of touch with reality. We're atheists because we see that the world makes a whole lot of sense when a bad idea doesn't get paraded around like it's real, and causing harm to everyone on the planet.

The more religious USA gets, the more they bash their atheists scientists, entertainers and thinkers, the deeper they are digging their own graves. If the climate gets to hostile, they leave, and your country goes down the drain. It's happened before, and it can happen again, the smart people are welcome everywhere, so they would rather go to someplace where the people welcome them.

You see it in the elections too with the religious party getting decimated by normal moderate people. Extremes to exist but America as a whole is pretty open both in attitude and laws. You just always here about the religious crap because they own the media and create a false dichotomy of American life. Don't believe everything you hear.

The only person who cared when I was in (high)school was my religious education teacher who couldn't answer my questions!

There is a good example of it in the graphic novel Maus, where the authors father, who had survived Auschwitz, tells his son not to stop for a black guy because they can't be trusted and will rob him.
The greatest strength of Atheism is that anyone can become one. You're not born into it, there are no ethnic or national reasons to become one, just reason.
