  • Loved Bowie in concert during the 70's love Lou Reed, and enjoyed this version of the song very much.

  • ooh, what a dancer

  • he votes conservative

  • This is so so good-what a cracking version -so different than his Ziggy versions.

  • This was a pleasure to watch. Please thank Stacy Hadon for me. This show was Amazing, and I saw 2 nights at The Spectrum in Philadelphia. What a Rush it was.

  • Stacey can't dance, but his guitar solo was great, it matched Bowie's interpretation very well.

  • Thank you Gary! I adore the Master Bowie in rehearsal (heck, I adore Him all the time!) Have you seen His "Pressure" rehearsal with Annie (Lennox) for the Freddie Mercury Tribute show? It is, in my opinion, one of the best. ....

*gasps in mock shock as I read your information section* Did our Iggy really have to be carried to the mic?? LOL!! Bless him!

...By the way, is Stacy married?

  • Do I have to be the one to say it?

Love Bowie, love this song, hate this version.

    Is that allowed? haha

  • It's only a rehearsal - he's not singing it the way he did on tour.

  • is that the guitarist who played with lou reed in the early/mid 70's? there is a "sweet jane" video on youtube from 1974 or so and i think it's the same guitar player. anyone know?

  • definitley not the same guitar player - Bowie in 1976 was his first association with a rock icon.

  • David is so awesome.

  • theyre too cool to say "Im waiting for MY man"

Lou would still dig this, I think. He'd be flattered. I don't think though this is better than Lou's solo performances. Vocally yes

  • True Original.

  • Love this version

  • This was his last tour BEFORE I first saw him (Stage-1978 was my first time). But I WISH I had because this was DEFINITELY his high point - best tour!! And no, this is definitely not disco (if you want disco, check out his 1975 John I'm Only Dancing). BTW, this version may not quite be the VU, but it's pretty good and WAY better than Lou Reed's solo performances of it and possibly better even than Cale's. But nothing comes close to his 1976 rehearsal Sister Midnight! Awesome.

  • I caught some of these shows on tour. please note this isn't a "disco" version. Its characteristic of the emerging funk sound after the early 70s motown era. lots of you are wayy to young to understand this (and you'll get mad at me for point this out) but these shows were great despite his coke use.

  • I agree totally. I'm only nineteen, but even I think that people use the word disco way too broadly. I also heard that people think his performances in this coke-use era were his best shows, I don't know, but I definitely won't give his addiction any credit. He's lucky it didn't destroy him.

  • No doubt, although I try to pay close attention to how music has changed over time I am too young to understand, so I surely don't mind you pointing that out. As far as I can tell, I don't think his cokeabuse had a negative impact on his shows either, but it did gave his performances a certain feel.

  • "Sorry to disagree this is pathetic."

Yeah, there is some irony going on doing this song as a disco version, but it feels right nonetheless to me. The way Bowies voice sounded at the time and the repetitive guitar riff seem quite appropriate. There is a resemblance between that riff and the way the piano is played at Lou Reeds version at Bataclan 1972.

On top of that, Bowie still looks pretty crapped out here (but still cool) because of the cocaine use.

  • thank you, i heard dave do this over the radio when i was teaching school in melbourne in early 80, but it was band with ronson, God i loved it, and have been looking for it ever since, the opiate anthem of the universe SOLI DEO GLORIA

  • after VU's

    Heroin

  • almost didn't click on this because it was a cover of a song I really love I'm soo glad I did though

  • Fantastic. Thank you so much.

  • Masive bowie fan and have never seen this or heard the song played this way so a big thank you

  • Sorry to disagree this is pathetic. This song is about desperation, smooth jazz shit.Give me the Celibate Rifles serious junky version,Pink Fairies at the Roundhouse, this is really dire Disco crap.

Being a junky is not disco.Bury it under 2,000 tons of concrete.

    Cheers Rev TT & COCO

  • they're rehearsing and it's a cover.. they're obviously just goofing around here :P

  • That Stacey Heydon is a deal. A worthy successor to Ronson and Fripp.

  • I was 14 when I first saw bowie at wembley empire pool, I remember him introducing stacey as a canadian in a red shirt! thank you

  • Agree with all the comments made about Stacy, he was class !!

  • The best bowie ever seen, this was his 'white line', living from only cocaine and milk, feeling men behind him and flies in his milk... I love him ever and ever and ever want to be the flie.

  • Stacey Heydon was the best lead guitarist for post-Ronson Bowie. I saw that tour in Denver. It was amazing and Stacey on Station to Station was fuckin' awesome. Thanks for posting.

  • Stacey Haydon was great on this tour, as was his whole band! Thanks.

  • who else was in that band?

  • This whas my first concert ever .. the same tour in holland may 1976,, great cover of velvet underground!!

  • This is SO AWESOME!!!!!!! The second time I saw Bowie was in 76. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS!

  • thanks for putting up this video..im a huge bowie fan..wow thats cool that ur brother in law played with him...anyways thanks lots

  • great song,great performance
