The Blackbird is a reconnaissance aircraft.. Not a fighter. That is why it is not in this video. Its only purpose was to take pictures/video of enemy positions or other such threats to other aircraft. Weapons were never an option.
@bullfrog31791 You are correct. The F-111 was initially designed to be the Navy's fleet defence fighter. It was even supposed to get the AWG-9 radar and Phoenix missiles. The weight of the design quickly ballooned though and the Navy were forced to look elsewhere (F-14). The F-111 was used as a test bed for the AWG-9 and Phoenix package while the F-14 was developed, so a few experimental aircraft did have that capability.
It should be noted that the video does show some experimental aircraft, and the figures they suggest are reletive to what is released and or known. It's undoubted that the MIG25 was a Mach 3 fighter, but when the US got their hands on one, they realized really fast what a hunk a crap it was, sure it was fast, but that was it and it nearly fell apart at top speed. SR-71 was at first an experimental fighter, they realized quickly it was not meant to manuver like a fighter should.
I can think of several fighters that were as fast or faster than those listed. Notably the F-104, F-105, F-106, F-4, Saab Grippen, Saab Viggen and the Saab Draken.
@ofrenska Blackbird is not a "fighter" its an aircraft. There is a difference between aircraft who can fight with wepponry and those without. Blackbird has no weppons.
I am sorry but i have to disagree with the number 1 slot i believe that that is reserved for the f-22 it has the ability to super cruise at speeds closer and over mach 2.5 without after burners
There's a photo of a Mig 27 in the photos of the mig 23. They look like the same but the Mig 27 has a lower nose because its used to ground attack. But its a great work.
above mach 2.5 the mig falls apart. lol

@bullfrog31791 It was capable of carrying stand off missiles so while it's not meant for ATA it was still quite capable of it.
