Technically, the Decepticon Reflector team -or as I like to call that team, the Reflecticons- was the first combiner team but they combine into just a photo camera.
Devastator was the only G1 giant robot I never got to play with. :( He had more detail than Superion, Defensor, Bruticus, and Menasor... both in toy and in animation.
when i was like 5 i used to have maga tron (which was like a foot ) and i had all the little decepticons that would combine with him and i made my mega tron look sooo cool. too bad my house was burned down.:(
SWEET !!1 My mom bought me this entire set for christmas in like 84 or 85., I'll never forget getting up and finding the box in the living room. I'm now 33, and if I'd have had any sense and appreciation I'd have taken better care of them :o(
My favorite character! "Constructicons, merge to form De-va-stat-or!!"
Looking back, the engineering on a lot of the Transformer toys was brilliant! I feel luck to live in a time where toys were made with such quality. Walking down the isles, browsing toys of today, every thing is made of cheap plastic. The G1 toys has a lot of real metal, with heaviness to them.
The plastics they used in G1 and in the 80's was a lot more sturdy.
Yes, diecast does make a difference, the point being, that toys today are made a lot different than the toys I grew up with in the early 80's-1984. A different standard in quality.
whatever atleast you wil lbe getting it in the mail.now i can see fortess maximus going for thatm uch but devastator? no fucking way if someone offerd that ot me for that price i would say"shove it up your ass if you cant give mea decent price"

awesome review man. I still have my old constructicons from 1985. The first ever released. the yellow based versions. I just dug them up from years of stroage. and they are still in fair condition, sticker colors have faded, and I seem to have misplaced the Devestator parts. But all six constructicons are in great condition considering their age.

I would like to congratulate you on this outstanding job. I remember the combination idea to be a breakthrough at the time. Out of all the transformers these were the ones I insisted on owning and taking back to my beloved homeland Egypt in 85. Surprisingly, that's where the major part of the new Transformers 2 movie was shot. Thanks again for bringing back the good old memories.
I used to have all these guys but I had forgotten how cheesy these were... I still like transformers but I just forgot they were so..square and stiff...
Transformernut, even though you can't interchange Devastator's limbs, say (anyone, not you personally) wanted to change his ARMS around, would you have to use BLU-TACK to swap Bonecrusher and Scavenger over for the arms?
Also, if any fan wanted to interchange Scrapper and Mixmaster for Devastator's legs, possibly Blu-Tack would have to be used (again) but interchanging Devastator's LEGS might be harder since Devastator would apparently walk funny where he'd waddle like a duck.
i like the way he spread scavengers legs apart, i wish i could score with a constrctcon. all i can get r insecticons. me and bombshel r goin 2 c a movie tonight.. <3

that was a good review,i myself like devastator but i don,t think it the best combiner of g1.all i no is the deception of the g1 series had the best looking gesalts devastator, menasor, bruticus, abominus and of course last but definely not least" predaking."which is my favorite but that is a matter of opinion.
I love this combiner. He is far better constructed than all the other gestalts and much more menacing looking. Here's hoping the TF2 movie version will rock as well.
Awesome review, Transformersnut! You gotta admit, Devestator is the most strongest Deception ever! Regardless of the fact that his gigantic stature slowed some of his movements down.
Hope to see a review of Metroplex someday, G1 Transformers sure are a are find these days, huh?
Your G1 Transformer reviews are awesome, Transformernut!! Such priceless nostalgia for this here former 1980's collector!

Me too! ... me too ...*sniff*
If I had any sense of appreciation I'd have some nice figures. I ended up giving them away to a cousin, who sold them at a garage sale!
Sometimes I'm like, "Mom, why didn't you teach me to appreciate and take better care of my toys!"
I either shot them with pellet guns, blew them up with fireworks, or torched them. lol

That "Single Prong" missile you showed with Mixmaster is actually part of the drill weapons that both Scavenger and Bonecrusher have.
