@vinnycriss I mean... Matt Cooke??? You're comparing a '57 Chevy to a Pinto. Barber scored 30+ goals 9 times and 60+ points 10 times (including a 112 point season). Now... today, there are over 100 guys who have scored 100 points in a season... but I'm sure he was one of the first 20. He was one of the best of his day. Cooke is a scrub. Barber definitely could dish out pain, but that was what people did back in those days. If you didn't people walked on you. The game has changed.
@sc0ner What a comparing! :D I really laughed out loud! I have to start using this one! "Comparing Matt Cooke and Bill Barber is like comparing '57 Chevy to a Pinto" :D:D:D:D I was just about to burst my cola from my nose :D
@Deimiond There have been a lot of guys since who have flashier numbers but spent a large part of their careers hanging out at the blue line. You can figure out some of the people I'm talking about. 70s hockey was about being tough as nails and playing to win on both ends of the ice. Barber mentions how he was proud of his D skills... and they were considerable. Again, that's why the +/- is so good. His line scored a lot more than they gave up... and Barber scored the goals.
@sc0ner .... What's wrong with you? Do you think that ANYBODY with a half of a brain would think Cooke over Barber? Barber is a legend and Cooke is a douche. I meant that your comparing Barber (Chevy) and Cooke (Pinto) was excellent. So thanks for the pointless lecture of 70's hockey, which I do like, and personal insults. You are a true class act.
@Deimiond There was no insult meant, BTW. When I said that I wasn't sure how much 70s hockey you watched, I qualified that statement afterward, so you'd know I wasn't trying to say that you didn't know what you were talking about. I just wasn't sure how familiar you were. Also, the thing about the soda was meant to be a joke, strictly (albeit a dumb one). I also misread what you were saying.
Bill Barber was a piece of shit. Cheap shot artist. The 1970's equivalent of Matt Cooke. Master of the intentional kneww to knee hit ( just watch the Booby Orr video from this same video series). I love tough players. I love players that get under the opponents skin. But I got no use for dirty, diving players. Including this piece of shit in this important series of vidoes only takes the luster off the series.
@Deimiond Gotcha. You were laughing "good" not laughing "bad". I agree. What the hell was that Matt Cooke comparison about?

BTW... an example of a blue line loiterer who never did much on the defensive end of the ice is Mario Lemieux. Look at his plus-minus and compare.

@vinnycriss You were obviously watching a different Bill Barber than the one that I watched literally hundreds of times at the Spectrum.
