PRINCE & MICHAEL JACKSON WERE/ARE ICONS. This dude CLEARLY rips off their styles. In the 80's people might not have noticed but it's painfully obvious today.
@positivityforever your right i don't know much about that time period saying that i was born in 94, but know this i can voice my opinion anytime darling and i'm very clear on that so shoo fly commenting me on that 3 months late ish
@BeneathTheSurface79 he did not ripoff he came out of the soul train era. at the time mj was still sporting a curly do, the style we currently know mj for is a style a lot of dudes wore back in the eighties mj just continued it well beyond its time. do i think jermaine was influenced by mjl in anyway? sure who was not its not the same as ripping off, jermaine was a backup singer for a group called shalamar: backup vocalists over time voice become influenced by the very people they back up.
@BeneathTheSurface79 clearly ripping off Michael & Prince how? They all are pretty much in the same age range, so they were all more than like inspired by: Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Jimi Hendricks, Sly & The Family Stone & of course Diana Ross (Jermaine & Michael). I think its a matter of shared influences, rather what you suggest, because who did not sound like this in the 80's.
I never knew there was video for Jody...The first time i heard it was on a September 1986 episode of American Bandstand. I know he performed it on there in July 1986
Thanks for putting this up........I was pretty sure it was Jermaine!!!! This song was a follow up to "We don't have to take our clothes off", right? How did this do on the charts?
Jermaine was one of a kind. Btw, Jody Watley, a friend and former employer (Jermaine use to work as an assistant to Jody) was the inspiration for this song, and the girl in the video represents Jody.
No matter this man will always be an "R&B Icon" that most will not ever forget! This was another close call, it peaked at #42 on the Hot 100 and #37 on the Sales chart. I guess it was a little too "urban" for Mainstream radio at the time. Nonetheless, this cut was hot!!!
@UltraPOPDJ Was a Top 20 R&B hit though indeed. If this song came out a year later, it indeed would have been a Top 10 hit (with Jody Watley's popularity of course in '87)
Yeh, I didn't know he had died either and such a long time ago. I've been away from the music scene too long. I sure did like his videos. I've been getting album art for my mp3s and by chance I'm finding out who's alive and who isn't.
