  • his homage to his friend the amazing Jody Watley

  • A great talent.

  • Priceless

  • where is my piece? Lucy can you help me? Jacket please!!!

  • love the clothes !

  • This guy was cool

  • A P P L E G A T E pix and choose your poison people. in the year of the 11 the channel and time black jack.

  • Was he the butttler in a episode of Dienasty?

  • I Always believed he was the most gifted eighties artist, He was a gift from the start, I was not please with the interview on Unsung did with Shalamar no one made mention of him at all the was very wrong, he was a backup singer for three years with them come on lets show some respect for Mr Jermaine Stewart

  • @TheVisions888 Jody Watley speaks of Jermaine Stewart in glowing fashion and the Unsung omission in her rebuttal to Unsung called "Unsung Jody Watley Unfiltered" on her youtube channel jwatley1 she also does a really nice photo tribute to him check it out on Part 8

  • @TheVisions888 I agree with your comments about him for sure he was gifted RIP to him

  • he made this song for Jody watley

  • I Had This On Video, 5*****

  • now this dude needs a TVONE UNSUNG!

  • @klp6ft6 : I agree, I wouldn't mind hearing about his story

  • I Love This Jermaine Stewart 1986 Music Video, "Jody," Which Became A Top 50 Hit In America.

  • good groove

  • Jermaine... Fashion Icon, just like his good friend Jody Watley!

This is High Fashion, Right Now! (Again:) in 2009/10 & 11

  • I forgot about this video. He was the original lead singer of Shalamar before Howard Hewitt took over.

  • PRINCE & MICHAEL JACKSON WERE/ARE ICONS. This dude CLEARLY rips off their styles. In the 80's people might not have noticed but it's painfully obvious today.

  • @BeneathTheSurface79 who cares he just as talented as prince and michael and i kinda like his voice better than theirs and that hair

  • @sly5722

If you can make a comment like this it clearly demonstrates that you know nothing about music, let alone this time period.

  • @positivityforever your right i don't know much about that time period saying that i was born in 94, but know this i can voice my opinion anytime darling and i'm very clear on that so shoo fly commenting me on that 3 months late ish

  • @BeneathTheSurface79 he did not ripoff he came out of the soul train era. at the time mj was still sporting a curly do, the style we currently know mj for is a style a lot of dudes wore back in the eighties mj just continued it well beyond its time. do i think jermaine was influenced by mjl in anyway? sure who was not its not the same as ripping off, jermaine was a backup singer for a group called shalamar: backup vocalists over time voice become influenced by the very people they back up.

  • @BeneathTheSurface79 i smell a hater! i think everyone who knows good music thinks that they all are great performers as well as awesome artist!!

  • @BeneathTheSurface79 clearly ripping off Michael & Prince how? They all are pretty much in the same age range, so they were all more than like inspired by: Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Jimi Hendricks, Sly & The Family Stone & of course Diana Ross (Jermaine & Michael). I think its a matter of shared influences, rather what you suggest, because who did not sound like this in the 80's.

  • good song

  • I never knew there was video for Jody...The first time i heard it was on a September 1986 episode of American Bandstand. I know he performed it on there in July 1986

  • this video reminds me of Michael Jackson Dirty Diana!

  • @Cherrypop513 So Michael must have ripped off the Jody video for Dirty Diana then as this came out first, I say go Jermaine, you are so missed R.I.P.

  • it took a while for me to figure out who sang this. neat!

  • MegaTyler98, if you're a soul music fan, it peaked at #18 soul in Billboard.

  • Megatyler98, it hit #42 on the hot 100. Not sure about its soui peak. i believe he wrote it about his friendship with Jody Watley.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • love this track.

What a disco smash-hit it was here in sweden back than

  • Thanks for putting this up........I was pretty sure it was Jermaine!!!! This song was a follow up to "We don't have to take our clothes off", right? How did this do on the charts?

  • love him and his music!

  • Jermaine Stewart was one of the greatest eighties Artist?

  • I have all of his tracks including b-sides on mp3, get in touch with me if you want a cd or 2! :)

  • :o were did u get them from please? im a new fan and want some of his songs lol :)

  • i would really like 2 get some of those from u

  • Btw, you can find his music on Amazon and Ebay. Or you can download free on Gnuttella.

  • Jermaine was one of a kind. Btw, Jody Watley, a friend and former employer (Jermaine use to work as an assistant to Jody) was the inspiration for this song, and the girl in the video represents Jody.

  • No matter this man will always be an "R&B Icon" that most will not ever forget! This was another close call, it peaked at #42 on the Hot 100 and #37 on the Sales chart. I guess it was a little too "urban" for Mainstream radio at the time. Nonetheless, this cut was hot!!!

  • I heard it on mainstream radio in Houston, Texas when it came out. I liked this song, and it's still a good listen.

  • @UltraPOPDJ Was a Top 20 R&B hit though indeed. If this song came out a year later, it indeed would have been a Top 10 hit (with Jody Watley's popularity of course in '87)

  • this is another song i wish itunes would carry good track

  • Same here but I believe the album itself is OUT OF PRINT and the going rate of the album on CD I last checked was at least $40? Me thinks I will wait

  • I found the "Frantic Romantic" vinyl on Amazon for roughly $5. Maybe go there?

  • he could dance and was sexy in an androgynous way!!!! too bad he was a casualty of aids at it's peak!!!

  • Jermaine was sooooo talented, he would had been still a superstar if he was here today. God Bless and I know you are in heaven singing you butt off.

  • he didn't have kids Rae?....C'mon are you really his family member?

  • Yeah, really. Jermaine was openly gay and it's not known that he has children anywhere.

"Jody" is a great song - if you can find the 12", it's a great remix, too.

  • You have to be ultra fab to have Jermaine make a video in your name. I lived and BREATHED miss Jody in my childhood!

One of the best songs ever. I wanna hear more music like this!

  • he seemed nice

  • omg- i remember this as my favorite Jermaine STewart track!

  • Yeh, I didn't know he had died either and such a long time ago. I've been away from the music scene too long. I sure did like his videos. I've been getting album art for my mp3s and by chance I'm finding out who's alive and who isn't.

  • I just found out about his death, I thought he just disappeared! I bought the record LP of this song Nov 21 1986, snd still have it! I live in Chicago, just found out he is buried in Homewood Memorial Cemetary off I294 expressway. I may have to pay a visit...

  • I know their are many of you who did not know of his passing, but it was a shock then and is still very hard for us family to accept after so many years. He lives thru his children now and in the memories of his whole family and we thank you all very much!!!

  • He was one of my fav 80's entertainers back in the day.( I was a teenager of course). He had some good hits. God Bless!

  • Did he have kids... Need to know ??

  • hi r you really related

  • Jermaine was gay,but him and Jody was good friends

  • Hi, all Jermaine had two beautiful children. The family and i would like to thank you for all your kind words and years of support.

  • i'm sorry to hear of his passing, God bless you and your family!!

  • I wonder did Jermain Stewart had any kids. If he did I bet his kids are beautiful.

  • i wonder how old was Jermain Stewart.

  • Jermaine was born 7th September 1957 so would have been around 29 when this song was recorded. He died aged 39 in 1997.

  • Oh yeah this was his second single in 1986!

  • LOVE THIS SONG.=)

  • Thanx, LANORDA9. I knew this song was about Jody Watley! Holla!

  • why?? he was gay maybe a guy named jody

  • no it was dedicated to his good friend, singer jody watley because several record companies were interested in signing her

  • Was he from Europe?

  • Just a bit of Trivia. Are you out there aware that this song was written about Jody Watley.

  • Did they date or anything, him & Jody Watley. I wasn't aware of this song!!

  • They all hung out dancing on Soul Train, back in Chicago. They formed a group. Jermaine was a backup singer for Shalamar. With members Howard Hewett, Jody Watley and Jeffery Daniels.

  • English is corrected.

That was the song I like very much from time of 's of 80! A nice song.

  • It was the song I like very much from time of 80 's! An import edition was being also bought and often asked in Japan.

  • jermaine stewart.. what a voice..he and sylvester never made a song together tho.. sylvester was way older than jermaine.. r.i.p jermaine..

  • He looks like a guy I know that works at N.C State University.

  • Does anybody know if he and Sylvester made any records or projects together? Of course I'm asking for the obvious reasons, LOL!!

  • I love this song. I can't believe it wasn't a bigger hit. Jermaine died of AIDS in 1997 and faded into oblivion. Such a tragic loss.

  • She must've messed up a lot of guys.

  • 01:11-01:13 ( cool )

  • that was the tune

  • He was one of the most gifted eighties artist and others/Janet Jackson/Five Star/The jets/ New Editions/Stacy Lattisaw/Musical Youth. they really very talented. RIP Jermaine Stewart.

  • Classic.... (Class of 89)

  • Remember watching this back in the 80s...Jody was his best friend when he was alive and she denied this song was about her but it is an obvious tribute. Cool.
