  • I dont feel the soul..

  • I love how Fred just shuffles along with them :)

  • Still good to go on the Bari-sax girl with the cute toes.

While their studying 'SOUL' music, they all oughtta GET SOME...SOUL, that is.

Their missing the 'tightness'; the 'funk'; the 'feel' and the 'soul'.

    Lesson learned.

  • What happened to the One? You can't read Funk... You have to smell it, feel it- Live It!

  • his tie is really short

  • Lose the singer.

  • The girl dancin in the back is the feel show. Now that's funky. Do it girl!

  • these guys ain't got the funk. Fred's got the funk. the sax player had a good amount of funk. but the others? nah

  • This is killing me, fuck! I want to be up there and show that boy what funky soul is!

  • If I didn't know better, I would say this was a bunch of white boys trying to play james brown ahahahaha

  • singer is good voice but lacks the looseness he needs for it but the sax was surprising and of course the amazing Fred Wesley always doing his thing regardless good performance James Brown is extremely hard to learn jus gotta be felt

  • college boy Funk. sounds light and too stiff. James Brown probably would have fired these guys after about four bars!LOL

  • Had no idea Alvin!! You haters out there, try holding down a 2 hour show as solo vocalist bringing back that soul. Boy can do it!

  • This feels kinda flat...

  • that tenor sax player was mad good... solosist need to understand you loose the crowd when you play 1.5 minutes of a solo that's rhythmic. and technical. you need to have a line they can follow.

  • I like the baritonsax;)

  • No, just no!

  • they sound ok but if you know what JB stood for, there are too many whitefolk on stage. They wouldn't be allow to perform in europe.

  • @fenderbass what do you mean by that?

  • @alexandredl Europeans tend to have respect for authentic black music that is perfomed by black artists.Especially artist like James Brown.Of course they sound pretty good but they are authenic. They're missing the truth definition of soul.

  • totally academic - fir the teachers ...

  • singer sucks!

  • Nice to see Fred without a suit and a tie :)

  • mi respesto para FRED WESLEY bravisimo espectacular! 100 Stars

  • Honestly,

I bet the vocalist has a amazing voice...but this is definitely not his genre to pick around with.

The band can get a more aggressive sound...so it actually sounds as if they are getting into it.

Other than that, Fred always has the sickest funk tbone solos. And Leah's solo was pretty killin'.

  • I KNOW THE KID PLAYING TROMBONE!!!!!!!!

I got to play with him in the All-Cape Music Festival. He's wicked good :P

  • I was at this concert. The band was good. Fred was great!! The singer was very weak! i went to Berklee & spent 9 years plaing funk in and around Boston! There a ton of other singers that are MUCH better!

  • The guy's voice is weak... :/ Lovin' Fred though. :D

  • sick

  • Not too bad. Vocalist can have a little more power behind the voice. Listen to James Brown for a week straight and you'll know what I mean.

  • That pretty much the difference between being "taught" the funk and living the funk am I right? This guy is a trained musician taught to sing these notes I dont think hes a funk singer at all.

  • @GiantToaster....... too right !!

  • Not to pile on, but given the very high caliber of Berklee students, they must have been far out of their element to sound so stilted. It's even stranger because they are in their late teens and early 20s, where passion should trump attempts at refinement. Loosen up y'all, and with your talent you'll get so deep in the pocket you won't be able to find your way out!

  • Good lord this is Berkley?

    What Berkley Jr High?

    This is bad yall

    just bad.

    Fred is the MAn

  • there might b no grove but that doesnt mean the bari player isnt hot ;)

  • LOL 8:44

  • yeah, playing trane over funk never worked with michael brecker, right?

  • lol at 4:15 i think he started goin through puberty. this is a very mediocre tribute.

  • Lol, i think the vocals are a little to Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds-ish for this james brown tribute...

  • @1:32 It's Que Pasa people Que Pasa hit me!!! Not "get pesta..." or whatever da freak he said. LOL

  • this is what happens when college boys try to intellectualize SOUL! they rip off the form and destroy the FEEL! total joke LOL!!!

  • Hmm JB with no groove, no bass and the band and singer in two different keys. Interesting!

  • lol at back singer at 3:50!!!!! LOL!!!!!

  • the singer looks is acting slightly retarded lol. Especially when he trys to work it on his "good foot" and sing!!!!!! lol!!!

  • Someone at this school should be teaching how to inject energy into a musical performance - there is none here!

The singer at around 4 mins! Who decided he should be performing or selected that song - THEY SHOULD BE SACKED !!!!!!!

  • THIS is a Band of the legendary Berklee School of Music in Boston ??

    horrible

  • Ohhh my God,very Bad Singer and Dancer..My F.....Ears(LoL)...

Mr.Wesley and Sex Girl,The best in circle!!!

  • Ohhh my God,very Bad Singer and Dancer..My F.....Ears(LoL)...

Mr.Wesley and Sex Girl(Funky good times),The best in circle!!!

  • his dancing is good what are you talking about?

  • nooooooooooooo grooveeeeeeee

  • Good clean JB licks. No groove, no soul, young bleed can't sing or hold a note or a candle to JB. Makes you want to hear the real article. 3:51-who the F--- was trying to sing background?

  • "who the ... was trying to sing background?" Er... Fred?

  • Too tamed this section is! (yoda)

  • haha tha rythm section on pass the peas is groovy!

  • No funk in this thing... ouch, does this sound horrible. They hit the notes but miss the sweat and heart

  • Dougles153 I agree with you, plus the pocket is not as deep as James Brown's ban. Only my opinion though. RIP James, I'm a fan for life!!! The singer is someing to be desired to put gently.

  • oh my god. shes playing outside as hell (in the alto solo) but it simply doesnt fit in the music.. now i dont like it anymore.. i tried to like it but that killed it

  • she's trying to play coltrane on funk. It doesn't work at all. >:[

Stick to a blues scale and throw that shit in every once and a while and it's cool.

  • man.. the band plays very good, but it all sounds very mechanical. theres not so much soul in it but its really cool. BUT: the singer is not funky. not at all. he should do a different thing..

  • I'm jealous of not only his skills but of his awesomely cooursed trombone :P

  • ALVIN I LOVE YOU!!!

    -Lyrehc

  • IMO the best trombone player of all time ! Great style, great tone, ! Love Fred Wesley

  • "Good Foot" = massive delay from audio to video = :-D

"Doing it to Death" = Kenwood's classical vibrato = :-D

A lot of funk going on up there.

    -Alvin
