@spybarbieminogue I, personally, don't think that he has any abilities like the Cortexaphan subjects, but I think that because he's her friend and their close, that with him just being there for her calmed her down. it's really sweet :) <3

I love how Walter tells Peter to calm her down, like it's a given, like it's the most apparent thing in the world !

I think that Walter functions as us the audience when it comes to Peter and Olivia, always rooting for them, always reading into the little things. Simply PRICELESS !

I love that too, my fav is the " call me dad " one, I couldn't believe what I heard, so i replayed that scene about 3 more times before it sunk in !

And I'm pretty sure it's because Olivia feels safe with Peter around, he comforts her, that makes her calm down not some crazy hidden power of Peter's. Really guys? I know you like to read into everything (myself included) but that's going too far.

Also, how the heck would Olivia know it was PETER holding her hand? It could have been Walter or even Astrid's hand easily.

Of course I know what show I'm watching. I also know how the characters react with each other. Every time something crazy happens, it's usually Peter and Olivia. Every time they solve something, it's usually Walter and Astrid. Fringe has it's patterns, and it's not just a sci-fi show. It's about the relationships between the characters.

Like Peter says in 2.16, they're a family. And any one of them can calm the others.

@AwesomeAuror - So why is it IMPOSSIBLE for peter to have his own ability when Olivia can turn off lights with her mind, she can see people glimmer, she saw the alternate universe, she is able to cross over to the alternate universe without killing herself. So frankly, why are people able to buy Olivia!WonderWoman but when Peter shows a little bit of what he can do, people just write it off?

It's not impossible for Peter to have a special ability, but it's not likely either. We know that Peter is from the alternate universe, but that's it. People accept Olivia's powers because of cortexiphan. There is evidence that she has been given it with Nick Lane, and that's why they are "special". Peter was 7 when he was brought over, and based on Olivia, that seems too old to be given it. Possibly Walternate gave it to him, but due to Peter's condition, it isn't likely.

I never said that. He (most likely) doesn't have any "special powers" but he's still awesome. He's a genius for one, and he has some of the best lines (although that honor has to go to Walter) and he's genuinely funny. He really cares about the people he's close to and goes out of his way to protect them. Even if he has a mysterious past, a penchant for kicking down doors when he's in a temper and can't follow directions/stubborn, he's still awesome.

Peter's my favorite character.

I'm almost sure that Peter has an ability! This is one of the scenes ( included 2 season) that could prove it.

I don't think he has one. Most likely Walter wanted Peter to calm Olivia down because she and he are intimate (even though neither will admit it)

@Velvetdusk09 Nope, actually the producers in an interview singled this moment out as something important about Peter. Notice that Walter tells him "Go ahead son" so this is like a power that Peter knows he has, but was discouraged from using, as a child.

There have been several instances in the show were Olivia has been anxious (or someone else) and he didn't do THAT. Couldn't it be something important about Peter that isn't a special ability related to calming people down?

I get the impression that Peter never does this usually either because he doesn't like doing it, or because Walter used to forbid him to do it. (And well, if the producers said this scene means something, I'm inclined to agree...)

@Katbee1 Not implausible, it just seems unlikely from what I've watched. I'm not undermining his character. He's a genius from another dimension who can kick ass and has turned over a new leaf from a previous life in shady business and is the son of WALTER BISHOP. He doesn't have to have special abilities to have good character. I like Peter a lot, and would be gleeful if he had a special ability but I have my doubts. That said, I won't be surprised if he does have one.
