  • I think people who have never studied the real deal and traditional style don't know the authentic way. There is so much beauty here. You don't see that "pop and lock" techno version. She is so smooth and in constant motion. I love her and the real deal!!!!! I thank my teacher for continuing this style .

  • She just looks so vibrant and happy!

  • this is real bellydance, and that's what I love. Soheir is the best

  • Ela é master-blaster-advanced-plus!!!!!!!!

Um dos meus estudos.... dança demais essa bailarina!!!!!

  • I guess now the style is the sport one...who can move faster than having the fingers in the power supplier and more elastic than the japanese gymnasts....the dance must be sensual and smooth and perfect, just as you said!

  • Can anyone tell me the name of this music or who composed it..... i think i've heard modern versions of this with lyrics now.

    thanks

  • @MJrip260609 it might not al be from one song but I am sure that there is a part from AFRAH BALADI by Hossam Ramzy (I got the Hossam Ramzy version at home but it might be of someone else). I love Suheir and I love her costume but hate the "tights" covering on her tummy. Beauty should be seen not covered!

  • @ARTEMOCION I agree, 100% about the tights covering her stomach. Suheir had such a lovely torso, curvy and soft and. . .so goddess like LOL Small waist with narrow hips. . .

It's funny though. . .I don't think I've EVER seen a clip of her dancing without her stomach being covered with fabric, whether it was see-through or not (maybe it was her personal choice?) A lot of young women today want to be petite and skinny. . .but I'd KILL to have a body like Suheir Zaki <3

  • @ARTEMOCION Exposing your belly has been illegal in Egypt since the 1950s, so dancers are required to wear something that covers their midriff.

  • whats nam of this movie

  • she got a nice body, I wish i carried my weight like her

  • she is my idol

  • Whats the name of the song and where i can find it?I mean the whole song.

  • I look up to all the legends. They had a fire that very modern dancers have. The sad part is, people expect the stereotypical bellydance and so even when people like myself try to follow the legends, we get pushed aside because it's not considered good anymore. You have to do back bends and crazy ab movements.

  • There are still some dancers who do Baladi, not choreographed performances. I chose to do Baladi to authentic Egyptian music no fusion or choreography. Feels fake to me. Look for Baladi on You Tube. The best American is Rania Renee from NY. Unfortunately, Bellydance Superstars have Miles behind them w/ a bigger budget for advertising. Realize too that most of the fusions are created by Americans unlike "The Legends" who were from the Middle East.

  • Baladi is the best. Unfortunately everything changes throughout the yrs. The 2 pc. bedlah costume isn't authentic, Hollywood created it for movies & foreign dancers in the US took it back home with them. The netting isn't something the dancers came up with or a 70's style. The Middle East banned exposed bellybuttons. This is how dancers were able to wear 2 pc. bedlah but keep their bellybutton covered. Even though you can see it, it is considered covered. Thin line walked very well!

  • damn son!!!!

  • I think it's interesting how they felt the need to add the belly fabric. Can definitely feel the 70's in there!

  • woooooooooooow! she is marvellous

  • the best

  • The Goddess, the Oum Kaltoum of bellydance. Thanx for posting this.

  • i love Soheir =) .... i love real pure bellydance.

i hate tribal fusion way of belly dance...

  • My favorite egyptian bellydancer:)

  • I appreciate the legends of belly dance more because they really demonstrate the art of belly dance. They do not wear all of those flashy costumes. They just focus mainly on the dance and the pureness of it. Awesome vid. of Suheir!!

  • So beautiful, so natural, effortless :) Suheir is one of my absolute favourite dancers! And I love her costumes, esp this one!

  • m encanta

  • seems you know little of bellydance and it's existence in culture...

  • I just don't understand why people say bellydancing isn't supposed to be sexy...this is definitely SEXY,and there's nothing wrong with that.

  • is she wearing anything under that skirt thing? looks accident prone

  • she s the true beauty.. no surgery.. fresh from the oven.. ! damn HOTTTTTT...!!!

  • she s the true beauty.. no surgery.. fresh from the oven.. ! damn HOTTTTTT...!!!

  • yeah but muslims all over do it anyways. not all of them are that religious, for ex. suheir zaki, fif abdou, nadia jundi and samia gamal are all muslims. they dance and everyone still loves them. no one really cares about religion anymore, people are too busy trying to live their lives.

  • whats the name of this song?

  • Nice dance! She has a lot of talent and i enjoy wathcing her.Kisses from Romania

  • Beautiful dancing!!! pardon my ignorance, but what is the name of this tune?

  • Love her hipwork. Greetings from Delaware

  • marvellous woman and dance belly dancer shams monica

  • A grand slam performance!!!! Wonderful!!!!

  • This was the most beautifull dance ever dance in Egypt

    I love u soheir

  • I HONESTLY don't want to get into debate, but could some one please tell me why this is against Islam. I really don't know as in my religion this is just fine and I'm a little baffeled since all these dancers are Muslim. Please feel free to send it to me in personal mail! :)

  • because its not modest... but its a tradition that stays because we love it!! lol

  • Thanks a lot! I love it too!

  • To answer Suhaila. In islam women are not supposed to entice men with their beauty unless it is her husband. they are not allowed to sing because thier voice may attarct men. So bellydancing with a half naked body is definitely not allowed by islam.

  • But I think bellydane has existed before islam and arabs are still attached to things they like although islam ban them. The other thing do not assume that all arabs are muslim. some of them are christian.

  • wow!her movements are so fluid!

  • Outstanding performance!!!!!!!! Fantastic...superb!

  • man she repented and the reason im here is some one sent me a link.... this video should be deleted

  • Hi! :)

Could you please explain what you mean? She repented? Why do you feel it should be deleted?

    Bye!

  • well sohaila95

they mean she is wearin hejab now and she is not bothered with these stuff anymore and she regret that she was a dancerwell as far as i think

  • Thanks a million! :)

  • A lot of women entertainers were targetted in Egypt by the Ikhwanne (Muslim Brotherhood) which is a bunch of radicals, and they pushed the women to wear hijab & renounce various aspects of their careers- Sohair ditched dancing, other actresses took conservative roles if they stayed in cinema, etc. Some were threatened with death themselves, others had their children threatened. The 80s wasn't too fun for Egypt. My parents were there during that time.

  • hi darling to be honest am not very sure about which comment u replied coze i have more than one but in general if its the one i was telling sohaila about i was just trying to tell her what the meant! but i would love to know seriously they do that i mean ekhwan and is that danger to everyone?

  • The Ekhwan are a radical group of Wahhabi Muslims who have claimed themselves responsible for bombing resorts in Egypt, who are pushing for conservative Islam to govern Egypt over-top of the government, who want all women wearing hijab etc. They have taken hostages before etc., and have terrorized especially entertainers since the 70s. They were very much behind getting rid of the Western-world-friendly king and putting Abdel Nasser into power. Later Nasser feared they would oust him as well.

  • I didn't know that. What a waiste of talent.

  • I mean, the wahabbi forcing her to give up dancing.

  • No one forced her to give up dance. She danced less when she had her son and because there were less venues. She is out of retirement now. Don't believe everything you hear.

  • she was forced by the CIA to stop.

  • i want to hear more. why is this?

  • is it because her belly is visible, that you think she 'repented'?

sorry to say, but the video is not going to be deleted just because you want it :D

  • you totally missed the point sorry to say but ur like a blind person walking in daylight...wow u actually think its bec the belly shows read up on Islam then reply ill be waiting.

  • idiot, whatever the reason you think she 'repented', she did not and the video is not going to be deleted.

btw, I couldn't care less what islam says.

  • I never get tired of this vid! Watch it almost everyday!

Anybody know where to find really good body stockings? I found some that look kinda flimsy. If anybody knows an Arab supplier of bellydance gear, please drop me a line! :)

  • Absolutely Beautiful! Technique, showmanship, modesty, you name it. This is why she is a classic!!!

  • she's egyptian belly dancer so no wonder-not like u foreigners(americans, russian &europeans) u looke sooo artificial like roboots

plz i dont wanna any1 be jealous-just dance rap,hip hopen disco ,........hahah

  • why would people mark u down for what u have said i believe in every word egy00malika i mean europian got their own things and arabs got their own dance and culture and yes the DO look like ROBOOTS when they dance the belly dance

  • Perfect! Perfect body to dance it!

  • Oh my G-d what muscle control! I noticed her abdomen is covered for the censors....

  • She is wearing one of her signature body stockings, you can see it in the back, and in the front when she does isolations you can see it crinkle, Always a lady the fabulous and classy Souheir Zaki.

  • That's what I love about her! I think I'd wear the body stocking too!

  • I meant to add that I think she raises the bar for modern dancers! You really don't see this at all!

  • can anyone compare themselves to her? no way. Classic legend. Fabulous.

  • Can someone explain me, why almost no one dances like suheir zaki anymore?!

Now a days it's just heaps of technic and it seems like it has to be difficult and performance oriented and only with a choreo....

I love the Egyptian style, it's authentic, smooth, simple and perfect!

  • They dont, they dont dance like Nadia, Naima, Suheir, and any of the other legends, they were so graceful and just enjoying dance, not getting every move they know into a beat, tech this, pop that, how much I can do with my abs, and so on. I wish there were instructios out there pursuing this from

  • True! I think this style will really not been seen outside of the M.E for the simple fact that the dance is so sexualized and this style really reflects the people more and not anything commercialized. It's just from the heart. I still think dancers not dancing this way isn't necessarily bad for the simple fact that is diffrent from this classic style and that is fine, I guess. This style is just so awe-inspiring.

  • There is absolutely nothing wrond ith modern style, but at least take it back to the original way it was performed, well at least as close as you can get so it will never be forgotten and a continued practice. Now it seems like there is more"how much I can do" " look at what I can do" And much less enjoyment, and celebrations

  • Suheir is so beautiful. I love watching her dance.

  • She has the best shimmies ever!!! I LOVE her :o) No one can compare to Suheir... she has class, style and an elegance that is hardly seen now. Beautiful!

  • Can somebody please tell me where I can find all these lovely movies in English? I have just fallen in love with the Egyptian cinema and the way things were filmed but I have no clue where to find anything.

  • like all great dancers, Souheir is very intelligent in exploring her style.

  • WOW WOW WOW!!!I'd like dancing like her!!!

  • Dadam uste war zarmin gar dagul iyij belaodar hashtemak gwe saru vrikhlal amin ros mand wa mandaharay weshelugh taleb wa xrea khintshayl shameegh? Haram shalyy Hikrambuj DZHEGHBENDI!!!!!! Haram

  • Soheir's costumes are sooo beautiful! She likes to use the sheer belly covers alot and they look amazing!

  • Souhair Zaki makes me proud to be Egyptian we love her too much. Everything she does is perfection

  • Exsqusite...No BDSS can even compare...Suhair is the best, she dances from the heart, not a choreography.

  • arabic bellydancers are really good since bellydancing came from arabs, However shes not the best. There are many other better bellydancers from egyptian cinema and other arabic countries. I agree Turks and arabs is like comparing apples and oranges. very different.

  • "Best" is such a subjective term. I think she is the best, cause she's the dancer I like the best.

  • She's Wonderful, beautiful! This is real Belly Dance

  • Comparing a Turkish Dancer with an Egyptian, is like comparing apples and oranges. Such comparisions do not benefit either dancer and their traditions. Each dance styling has it's own merits and training methods. Didem, agreeable, is not the best dancer I've seen, perhaps constructive comments that would help us to understand what people do not feel her strengths are. Turkish dance, if studied as a scholar, has distinct stylistic flavourings that herald from the Roma/Gypsy traditions.

  • I agree with you. Didem doesn't follow the traditional Turkish style, and that's totally fine. She has great abdominal strength. However, her musical interpretation is a little off. Moreover, she lacks emotional depth and warmth during her perfromances. She has technique and that's about it.

  • didem can if she wanted to. but people have trouble understanding that everyone wants to have their own style and stand out. everyone looks best as themselves, not copies of others

  • I've seen Didem, she copies routines from the bellydance superstars and other dancers. Anyway, they all look the same to me. No dancer until this day has been able to dance like Suheir Zaki, this is why she's a legend in belly dance. In all her videos almost no one has anything negative to say about her. She was and will remain THE dancer!

  • ostaza ya soso labannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • عظمة على عظمة يا ست الكل

  • habibi je t'aime

  • I love this :) This is the real bellydancing to me :) There is feeling in it and to the music, the way it should be :)It's a pure joy to watch it :D

  • i love her.. i wish i could dance like that

  • Didem sucks, she could never hang with a master of real Egyptian bellydancing like Souhair. This is the real deal pure and natural.

  • WoW, I'm so glad You said that! I think Didem makes bellydance look freakish. She's not smooth at all. She can really move her belly, but in a circus freak act sort of way. But her timing is good. But no one comes close to the early Egyptian performers like Soheir, Samia Gamal, Tahia Carioca, and Nagwa, in my opinion!

  • @lmegna25

I completely agree with you and your assessment of Egyptian dancer over Didem. All you named are my favorite, I have met Soheir and Nagwa Fouad - both sweet and great dancers.

  • @Zizer43 The chronology of the great Egyptian baladi dancers should start with the legendary Bady3a Massabny, then Tahiya Carioca, Samia Gamal, Nagwa Fouad and Souhair Zaki. Fifi and Lucy are not in the same league. Unfortunately none of the dancers of 1980s and beyond measure up. Tahia Masr Om El Doniah.

  • @joke75meister I forgot to mention Na3ima Akef a contemporary of Tahiya Carioca and Samia Gamal.

Also Nadia Gamal (no relation to Samia) was considered a major star of belly dancing in Lebanon.

  • old movie.

  • sexy lovley sweet . thank you

  • This is woman who could steal a heart very quickly... Keep hope alive!

  • Beautiful and pure PURE class all the way.Real dancing .

  • you must look at DIDEM!!!

she is a great dancer and very very beatiful

  • Suheir Zaki THE BEST!!! :)

  • Her hips speak a language! Wow!

  • She is the Queen of belly dance in the 70s

  • What moves! What legs!

  • She is my Number 1 !!! thank you bellybunny.

  • you are welcome :)

  • thank you belly bunny , I have always tried to find more clips of her and only found the one where she was wearing the yellow dress . Now I have more to look at . She is the best .

  • oh my god this is the most amazing little clip - every dum and tek in the music is illustrated by her hips. I never "got" Suhair Zaki up till now and now I'm in awe!!!

  • Wonderful!!! I knew this video, but I can't have enough of watching it!!!

  • she's the greatest of all time. i love the classical way of dancing as opposed to the modern way. it's much more free flowing and sensual. i don't understand why there was a renaissance in egyptian dance.

  • As always with soheir, I watch this and am absolutely charmed. She is the best dancer I have ever seen, so classy and beautiful to boot! I wish she hadn't retired, I'd give my right arm to dance like her (although I'd have to give it after the dance, of course...)

  • Thank you so much for this, I ma a huge Sohier fan and this is a treat!

  • Thanks for this video!!! Soheir is great! That old times, were great too!

  • I adore her way of bellydancing!!!!

  • You are so welcome, Taheya!

  • thanks so much for posting bellybunny, soheir is fabulous!

  • wonderful
