  • This song has a deeper meaning to me and I am sure a lot of other people. I'd love to sing this to her face, But, her loss. :)

  • Time for a guy to sing this! Volunteers? GQ.....

  • HOT LIPS...............

  • The fashion and music scene should really have to go back to the 80's now. With all the technologies we have now, it will be awesome.

  • for the longest time I thought this was Pat Benatar

  • My daughter LOVES the 80's..but laughs at our dancing! Now, i'm NOT saying her opinion is unjustified but when I listen to our old 80's songs...I cant imagine dancing any other way! :)

  • anyone ever see that video for "love has got a line on you" with jon bon jovi playing guitar for them...cool!

  • patti...one of the hottest and most under rated singers of the 80s..the album "warrior" was a GREAT album with many great songs, that didnt get much air time, sad. did anyone else see "one night only" with scandal on vh1,,that was awesome, would have loved to have been there.

  • I love the innocent cheesiness of the 80's.

  • man I bet mcenroe has had fun with that thru the years

  • someday i hope to use this song to break up a dating relationship. love it!!!!

  • I know what would look good on her, ME !!!

  • I never cared a lot for all the synth in much of the 80s sound, but, this one moves so right. Great vocals from a good-looking gal.

  • I'll be thinking of this one when I get out of the midWest (hopefully for keeps).

  • I love how the top comments both involve time machines. :D

  • I always pictured my grandmother singing this to my grandfather.

  • Good song from the 80's . Rad !!!

  • Goodbye to glue!

  • shes sexy as hell

  • Keyboard solo!

  • For my sweet ex dannydutchboy2011

And my heart, and my heart

And my heart can't stand the strain

And my love, and my love

And my love won't stand the pain

  • She looks like Marie Osmond. lol

  • Mrs. John McEnroe

  • I didn't know that Jon Bon Jovi played keyboard in this video....

  • @Lanse1970 he actually played guitar briefly for Scandal at the beginning of the band.

  • looks like a young Gina Davis

  • I can remember seeing this on Nickelodeon back in the day, while watching You Can't Do That on Television.

  • she kinda resembles linda ronstadt

  • Excellent vocals. "The Warrior" is my favourite but Scandal had lots of other great songs.

  • my favorite song at the moment, ''The Warrior'' also

  • MAN, I really need a time machine. Destination: the best decade ever "80's forever baby", Thank you LORD for letting me experience this awesome decade!!!!!

  • @Mr80sforever Remind me again why she turned down the lead singer role for Van Halen? Seems like bad career move!!!!

  • @Mr80sforever sorry dude. the best music ever came from the 60s. even though i wasnt born until 69. even the 50s had some singers (ie ricky nelson) that blow away anything from today (ie justin beiber). that said, early to mid 90s had some good music also, lisa stansfield, toni braxton, en vogue, and lots of one-hit-wonders that could really SING!

  • @fixfireleo Even if the 60 had Elvis, The Beatles, The 80's offered us punk, post-punk, New wave, metal, hard rock. Those kinds of music were never established in the 60's. I would love to see post punk band of the 60's, if it existed to go head to head with Elvis or The Beatles, and one more thing MTV. MTV ruled the 80's.

  • @Supersweetguy guess it's all a matter of taste. i prefer power ballads and very strong vocals, for instance Gladys Knight. i do also like bubblegum, which, in it's way, may have been a precursor to punk music. there were some great singers in the 80s, like Breathe, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics, Stevie Nicks, Gloria Estefan and Mariah Carey to name a few. but it sounds like we like different music. :) oh, elvis is not my fav, i dont care for beatles and beach boys. platters FTW.

  • @fixfireleo 'sorry dude ' followed by personal opinion ?

  • @RisingSon011 yes? what do you not understand?

  • Bis Dan!

  • Great song from one of the hottest girls of the 80's. Anybody else want a time machine!

  • @gordsalt I want one!

  • @gordsalt me!!!!!!!!!!lol

  • The best 80's music

  • Amazing 80's!!!

  • GOODBYE TO GLUE!!!

  • what a cutie. I have always loved the part at 0:54 when she is bouncing and then turns around and laughs at the camera.

  • Im 22 and I grew up with this, i didnt hear rap for the first time untill i was 14. I dont like alot of the music coming out now, not cause its short but because it crosses me as being mostly shallow, there isnt any depth to most of what is glamorized by radio. im at a loss to how gaga is an icon....peeps r calling her an icon....????. Pat is good though

  • here comes that spunky chick

  • When I saw Scandal in concert back in '82 or so, Patty referred to their style as "slut music". Hmmm...

  • @travellinman321 Right on- left LA 10 yrs ago, livin in India and didn't hear about that, thnx 4 update. I used to live in Woodstock NY and MacEnroe had a house there, I know it. So maybe I dress like a line referree and call him out, while he is whining and bitching about the call, I'll steal her..... MWA HA HA HA

  • Such a good tune! No B.S., just instruments coming together and a great arrangement, P.S. could sing her ass off too. Why is good music so hard to come by these days?

  • She plays AIR GUITAR at 1:34

  • i like the bridge at 1:16

  • Favorite!

  • Such an unddrerated singer. She never got the fame or props she deserved and sings MUCH better than anyone on the radio today.

  • I just luv this song!

  • I remember the first time I saw Scandal on one of those dance shows of the 80's, and Patty performed in a man's blazer and a black slip with lace on the side, and I thought to myself, "She's wearing underwear" ,,, Madonna must have been watching too!

  • Man she is awesome!

  • this played a few years back on the last day of High School. It was epic man.

  • I just love this chick- LOVE- please someone send her contacts to me, I don't care if she's wrinkly now

  • It is really sad when you see young people (teenagers) saying that they wish they were born in an earlier decade. You did not hear that from teenagers twenty years ago. Wha the hell has happened?

  • Song had everything: rhythm guitar, keyboards and patty!!!! wonderful memories!!!! cant tell you how much these songs mean to me!!!! I HOPE YOU TOO!!!!!! P.S. just had to say that to this day looking into her eyes makes me melt.

  • Song had everything: rhythm guitar, keyboards and patty!!!! wonderful memories!!!! cant tell you how much these songs mean to me!!!! I HOPE YOU TOO!!!!!!

  • mierda una de mis favoritas scandal

  • who could forget this great group.

  • Van Halen's 1st choice to replace Roth was Patty Smith.

  • oh yeah, great song to rock to

  • try to listen to this song without tapping your feet and rockin your head back and forth.

  • This was an AWESOME tune by Patty Smyth and Co. What's sad, though, in my opinion, is that she was never able to duplicate the quality and fun she had with this song. Her next follow up hit with an all-new Scandal band, "Warrior" was drab and mediocre compared to this glorious hit. This song will be remembered as Patty's musical high water mark.

  • She's Mrs. John McEnroe now. Yah, that John McEnroe.

  • the 80,s the best decade of the music.

  • @sandy1980ification I agree with you 110% woot woot!

  • jaja me gusta sta cancion pero es en el año donde ni estaba aun en la barriga de mi mama jajaja

  • i love this song. finally, finally "goodbye to you".....and good fucking riddance lol

  • I love this video! It was the first video I ever saw on MTV, back in 1983... Good times!

  • very poor video!

  • I love this song, but this video does it a disservice! MTV ReBuild it!

  • Comment removed

  • ITS THE EIGHTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a totally straight man,

but this song makes me want to hop up and down with her.

I miss the 80's (and the stand-up arcade games we played while listening to this stuff).

  • IS SHE HOT IN THIS OR WHAT????

  • Where is Patty now? What a great song.

  • @55westend i heard she's in the drunk tank with all the other rockers from this age. lol...

  • I grow up in the 80's and i miss this music from my teen's and 20's , rap and hip hop sucks

  • I was thinking more like making more music as just Patty. I mean she had this one and the Warrior right?

  • dang, i still dance like this. lol

  • Good bye to you, catchy..

  • I wonder wh she didn't make more music, she was awesome.

  • @chairmanofthebored1 she did---as Patty Smyth

  • I always liked this song-thank you.

  • Man she is a beautiful woman!

  • @PolarisPhoenix13 gawd,wasn't she??? gorgeous,and with a great voice, too

  • Listening to this song just made me smile!!! Long live the '80's!

  • Whats with the gay rant? Geeze.... who cares!

  • This was the last era in pop music when it was FUN, and we didn't take ourselves so damned seriously.

  • @rgglick I totally agree. Today, everyone's idea of "fun" is seeing who the latest loser will be to get voted off whatever stupid reality TV show they watch, and downloading apps on their smartphones. I think we would all look better, feel better, and act better if we returned to letting loose and letting go and not caring so much about what we looked like doing it.

  • 80s was great, especially compared to the crap that came in the 90s.... ..boygroups and not much else, even Michael Jackson was on the downside!

  • Somehow reminds me of Roxette. Good stuff.

  • Never should have said good-bye to Scandal. Patty why?

  • i was born in 89. does that count? lol

  • sexy sexy always patty

  • @dis1mop3000 Your creepy...

  • @silvermewtwo BOO!

  • @dis1mop3000 ??? o-0

  • @dis1mop3000How old are you? Does this make you feel like a "Man" because you can write dirty words on YouTube and you think it impresses anyone? Got news for you... it makes you look just like the imbecile you are. Grow up, you stupid moron. Begin by watching Sesame Street; it will teach you skills on how to communicate in society. Just imagine, one day you may even have, dare I say, a girlfirend? (Unlikely, but best wishes anyway!)

  • @anonymystery13 nice paragraph cocksucker.Get a life fag boy and hope you would have, dare I say, a girlfriend?

  • @dis1mop3000 No, you little twit, I'm not a "fag boy" my sons will confirm that. Are you sure you have your mommy's permission to be watching and commenting on YouTube?

  • @anonymystery13 WOW? Fuck you and your sons and your punk ass! And you are a fag. "babycakes"? You enjoy the video and move on FAGBOY SISSY COCKSUCKER!

  • @dis1mop3000 As far as the "cocksucker" remark goes toward me? Dream on, babycakes. Just watch and enjoy the video.

  • @anonymystery13 And one more question... Where's your mommy at? Get some pussy from that bitch while you watch and your sons can fuck each other at the same time. Fuckin' Homo. Get on bitch. Prop.8 is legit now. Go get married fudge packer cunt.

  • haha jesus christ look at this retard (dismop300). what's wrong with you man? you talk like a 12 year old who's insecure about his sexuality, so he huffs model airplane glue and calls people fags on youtube to deal with it

  • @dis1mop3000It just so happens that I AM a woman and I AM married. I've always been under the impression that men loved to have their c---ks sucked and never thought of it as a derrogatory term. In fact I just don't happen to see anything wrong with it, but that's just my point of view.

PS. My mother passed away 4 years ago and she was far from being a bitch. Now can you just leave me alone and try to watch this pleasant little video and for God's sake, lighten up and try and enjoy yourself?

  • @anonymystery13 Now can you just leave me alone and try to watch this pleasant little video and for God's sake, lighten up and try and enjoy yourself?

  • I saw the first MTV video when at college in the early 80's. It was truly a revolutionary new medium. Now, well, it's turned to politically correct bullshit, just like everything else in this upside down country.

  • Oh man, Patty was a hottie!

  • @asraiSOA I second That!!!........More then a Thumbs UP!!....LOL.

  • @asraiSOA What do you mean was? She still is.

  • @Columbo794 Ah yes, I stand clarified. :-)

  • @asraiSOA Still is!

  • she really did have one helluva voice, didn't she? Lifting the skirt @ 2:39 looks tame and innocent by today's standards 1982 you say? good times good times.

  • the 80,s the best decade of the music.

  • BTW, music was friendlier even when it was a breakup song. ;)

I remember when they did this song on Kate & Allie, when Jenny joined a band for one episode.

  • I miss the 80s. Music was friendlier and more upbeat, guys' pants stayed above the equator and you didn't have every other female singer or actress bleaching all the color out of her hair.

  • :P 90's kid and i love 80 music :D

  • I was 12 when this song came out... dang I am OLD!

  • @myalaynaangel I was 12 too!! We are def NOt old!! We just appreciate awesome music like the 80's was!! The 60's were also awesome!!!! Classic rock and rock in general & Pop are awesome!! I also love the 50's,70's and some 90's music.

  • I always thought that this was the Go-Go's. I haven't heard this song in ages.

  • Como me aloka esta

    cancion :$ ...!! xD

    ALZALE TOO EL volum..!!

  • 10 years later she went all the way to #1 with Don Henley on the hit "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough".

  • @atworkstation Yep!! She was also backing vocals to "Sunset Grill". One of his many awesome hits!!

  • Another AWESOME song from one of the BEST decades!! I was a pre-teen and teen in the 80's!! The 80's just kicked ass!!! What awesome memories in general. Wish I could go back to those awesome times!!!

  • 80s Man!!!! They Rock!!!

  • i did this tune...it was fun...she was so great...they put her name in front of the band...Patty Smythe & Scandal. One of about 5 female vocalists from the 80's that did not totally suck. A lot of that stuff was crap...we were really listening to Whitesnake, Quiet Riot, Van Halen, The Police, Ozzy...!!! I had to sing boy songs...lack of material...i developed a good rock voice though!

  • ever since beavis and butthead...I don't hear this song the same.

    "Goodbye to Poo-ooh"

  • It's songs & videos like these that makes me wish I was still living in the 1980s...

On another note, I hope no one hates me for liking The Veronicas cover as equally, but I felt the Australian electropop twin duo did a fine job at keeping this song alive & being able to introduce it to the younger generation who might've not know the song at first.

  • there used to be this cool tv channel called MTV. They played what we called videos. This was one of them.

  • @meth222

    eyah,

now is full of reality gay shows of douchebags..

  • the 80,s the best decade of the music

  • @snowbunny39 What's wrong with marrying someone whom you love?

  • Their idiots!

  • @Streetsofire Who are you referring to as idiots?

  • @Streetsofire lol...."their" idiots???Oh the irony of it all...

  • @Streetsofire What's the irony of it?

  • @Streetsofire You're the irony. You call other people idiots when you don't even know 5th grade grammar.

  • What's old is new again. Makes me want to swing dance.

  • Love it!

  • I went right out and bought the cassette tape of this one, the first time that I heard it.

  • Put on your leg warmers and learn to dance.

P.S.You will love learning how to let go, and learning how to rock, and just feel.... I promise it is OKAY>

  • as all the idiot minds say with nothing important or mindful to say "good luck " or ... " good bye to you" , " good luck chuck""

  • You mean MTV USED to play muzak videos....hmmmm. God i miss those days...ROCK ON

  • true free spearit

  • I wonder how many times she got railed by the other band members...

  • How could 28 people not like this.....

    They must lead Boring lives...

  • @HippieJimi Sucks to be this generation. They will never understand what it was like... the feel good times of the 80's.

  • @medievalfantasy I'm only 18, but I was raised to know what good music was. I wish more than anything that I could've grown up in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Better times.

  • @medievalfantasy Amen to that such an awsome time in my life I wish I could go back again.

  • @medievalfantasy: Word the people of this century and this millenium just plain suck and they know it. Their music sucks, most of their TV shows suck and those that don;t are based on the infallible formulas of the decades past, when it comes to the the last 4 decades of the last century they just ruled in terms of music and entertainment in general.

  • @medievalfantasy agreee!!!

  • @medievalfantasy True but it's good to see people who weren't even born then agreeing with statements like yours

  • @HippieJimi Look on the good side, 880 people and me like this video.

  • @HippieJimi Exactly. They tuned out early.

  • @HippieJimi On the bus a few days ago a 20 something said: "I can't be bothered with songs that last more than two minutes, because I get bored."

They just don't have the attention span for decent music, taking their ritalin and adderal.

  • @starsquid What do they listen to for love songs? They have no idea! I hear these kids getting excited about some dumbass rap song! Please!

  • @starsquid Sickening, innit?

  • @starsquid

As a 20 year old, I couldn't agree with you more.

I can't stand listening to the trash they make these days. :|

  • @HippieJimi

i lead an extremely boring and mostly useless life. However this song is awesome!!!

  • @HippieJimi

    Morons! All of them!

  • i love her big ole puppy dog eyes

  • this is all im saying to all of you liars and backstabbers now i finally see through all of your fake exterior see ya

  • And every girls fantasy as well _ OMFG!!!!!!! I feel so young and old all at the same time!

  • Cool fast song !

  • She was the poster inside my army locker in West Germany. Nena, too.

  • @finian99 I was in the Navy during the mid 80s and having my walkman with groups like this hearing a sexy voice like hers, kept me sane.

  • Paul Shaffer played the synth part. He wanted a 60s kind of sound.

  • And just think she was Eddy Van Halan's 1st choice b/4 Sammy for lead singer....

  • Wow the synth player is obviously faking it.

Then again, the song was probably recorded first.

  • @JackTron7000 He is, The actual part recorded for the studio version was played by Paul Schaffer, from the David Letterman show. He actually is a kickass musician.

  • For every goodbye there should be a thousand hellos.
