I'm in a play in Knoxville about Howard Armstrong. Its called "Between a Ballad and a Blues" I play guitarist Ted Bogan. I actually learned guitar for this show. The show is March 24, 2011. If interested call The Carpetbag Theatre at 865-544-0447 for more details
hey, i want to know something... there is one song that there is a man (african american) singing wearing a green suit/ shirt... all the musician in the background is him... playing piano, drum and many more... i dont think it's in the 70's but between 2008 and 80's.... if someone know what song is it, please reply this message....
Holy shit! What a great lineup. I knew Goodman played with Jethro Burns sometimes and wrote a song about Carl Martin but never knew he shared bills with Armstrong. cool.
"Louie Blueie" is currently (as of March '08)on youtube in about 7 parts. Look it up NOW before it gets bumped off, as to my knowledge this is the only source available for viewing it. I don't believe it is sold as a video, but I could be wrong about that.
I saw them during this period. I was 7 or 8, my parents brought me to see them at our local town hall, and then a few weeks later at the Hudson river clearwater revival. after we watched their set, I went to the urinal tent, and Howard Armstrong was wizzing next to me. I said I had seen him a few weeks ago, and he looked at me like, "What is this little peckerwood talking to me for." great moment!
He was still playing into his 90's. Saw him at Common Fence Music @5 yrs ago - still had it!

Chicago video from the 70s was the best. Amazing what the open reel equipment caught on tape. Thanks for posting this.
