JUST MISSED!!! "How The Time Flies" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 16 weeks in the Top 100 in 1958, it was Mr. Wallace's debut record on the charts!!! Dinky Doo!!!
@Tobyrussell1048 If Tom is your dad please give him my regards. I used to visit him at the tomato packing plant and we would talk about songwriting. I lost track of him after hurricane Andrew, sure would like to catch up with him. There is a website that I ran across where the guy has real nice things to say about Tom and how he helped the guy out in a recording studio in LA.
Wow! What a yank at my nostalgic heart: I was nine years old when I first heard this song! The tune was permanently embedded in my psyche by time that I last heard it about two years thereafter. Now, after more than four decades, some person by the screen name of "yeaaassh" resurrects it in all it's evocative detail. Thank you!
Typical mid to late 50's beat and instrumentation with vocal back up. Simple Yes, but very successful in a much more innocent era. Jerry Hit Billboards Top 100 with this record but received a Gold Record for Primrose lane. A wonderfu time with great music. You had to live it to appreciate it! Ron--Highway Stars Magazine
Reminiscing about friends this Christmas season 2009 and Jerry was one of them. He was a good friend of the family who we miss so much.
I wanted to send this song to a friend, because the title is so appropriate, and yes, my " How The Time Flies." What a wonderful artist and person Jerry was.
Sometimes they get the year wrong, this was released in 1957,I was crushing on a girl named Dixie,so when 1958 rolled in my group The Chevelles, played this song at her Jr.High Prom, and I danced with her on stage while singing this to her.Sincerely,The Original Chevelles.
I heard a Great Story about This Recording ... supposedly , One of More (if not All) Members of the Backing Vocal Group didn't show-up for the Recording Session ... J.W. ended-up recording Most (if not All) of the Backing Vocals. That is definately-HIM on the "Bass" Vocal , and at-least One of the "Harmony" Vocals.
Thanks so much for posting these wonderful Jerry Wallace songs. He was one of the great underrated performers from rock and roll in my opinion. all of his songs just hit so beautifully and that voice was just like syrup. Primrose Lane was another beauty from about 64 or 65 i think. Thanks again.
