  • i hate you, but I do agree with you on some key points...

  • I think the wait was so long for such a bad album, I think Illud Divinum Insanus is more than just death metal's St. Anger...it's death metal's CHINESE DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!

  • mercyful fate's best album : TIME

  • Kill a cop, kill kill a cop hahahahaha

  • St anger is better that load and reload....

  • "the limp bizkit of death metal"....abit over the top comment bro.. im more into static-x, strapping young lad and fear factory and the songs Radikult and Destructor are the ones i really like. also St anger is a pretty heavy imo and i like there diriction in that album. im not into Morbid angel and there other music but this is really nice stuff theyve done.

  • it means track 04 Blades for Beal why couldn't the rest of the album be like that track?

  • ...and they fuckin bombed. They could of taken another 8 years to make a good album

  • Sounds like a wrestler cutting a promo about Morbid Angel.

  • kinda like rob halfords two experiment!! I wanted to shoot myself in robs name!!! hahaha what a shit album

  • Illud Divinum Insanus.... Latin for garbage

  • Everyones got a st anger Judas priest-Turbo Slayer-Diabolus in Musica Autopsy and the list goes on. My point is everyone lets hope this is their only st anger.

  • @Slayerkid16 No all Autopsy's albums are greats

  • @Haloman777 ok fine.

  • I liked St. Anger.

  • I STIIL SHOCK IT FOR THE LAST ALBUM ....... I BEEN A MORBID FAN ALL MY EXISTENCE....AND A BIG FANS OF METAL

  • the new album sucks, I mean really 8- 10 years waiting for this and this is the best they could do, Iam not impressed. Total bummer

  • @rjayme1828 listen to karmablade instead

  • 8:18

  • The way I see it is that every bands is entitled to a bad album or two. Most bands do have bad albums. Eg. Slayer "South of Heaven, Christ Illusion", Celtic Frost "Cold lake", Motorhead "March of Die", Danzig "Danzig 5", Metallica "Saint Anger", Iron Maiden "No Prayer for the Dieing, and Fear of the Dark", Judas Priest "Turbo Lover", Black Sabbath "Never Say Die", Mercyful Fate "Dead Again, and "9". etc. The point is is that it happens, just cross your fingers for the next one.

  • @moremetalthanyou71 dead agian ist good , never say die also in my opinion

  • @vicek669 Never say Die is a great song on a bad album. Even Ozzy and Tony admit they don't like the album. I do love that song though. The last two Mercyfate albums were just bland compared to all the previous Mercyful fate albums. I think the absense of Micheal Denner hurt those albums.I'd still play them occasionally but they sound like a band running out of ideas

  • @moremetalthanyou71 slayer south of heaven?? That rules!!! You should be banished from the metal realm for saying that.. lol

  • @doctorrockter South of Heaven has only 3 good songs: South of Heaven, Mandatory Suicide, and Spill the Blood. The rest of the album is pure filler. Spill the Blood is one of my favorite Slayer songs though. I disagree with Slayerkid though I liked Diabolus in musica. "Point" is one of my favorite Slayer songs too. Seasons in the Abyss will always be their best. South of Heaven is better than Christ Illusion which I really don't like.

  • I feel about this album the same as I do Celtic Frost's "into the Pandemonium". Both are hugely experimental and both have great songs book marked by songs I can't stand. Luckly now a days I can delete songs when I rip them to make an album that feels stronger. I deleted "Mexican Radio, One in Their Pride, and I won't Dance" from Into the Pandemonium, and I deleted "Too Extreme. Destructos, and Radicult" from this. Now I have to listen to it again..hopefully it will be better. I may delete more.

  • All you haters should bow down,go fuck off.this idiot doesnt even look like she's old enough to have seen Morbs live.Mercyfull hate, what a fucking gaylord

  • @DanielGrozier haters? dont you mean old school morbid fans? kids like this shit, not the real fans.

  • coincidentally I found old zine where there was promotion for Heretic. after listening this I chose to put that on my wall. it was pretty much most hated thing from M.A. till this came out but its not that bad really, just tons of utter fails on guitar sound etc. but for the reason for me to comment on this. MERCYFUL FATE and 9 is THE shit \m/

  • Funny and spot on review

  • Not death metal's st anger, death metal's Lulu. That alBum made st anger look like a thrash masterpiece!

  • RIP Morbid Angel 1989-2003

    RIP Metallica 1983- 1991

  • @Makrozon listen to karmablade instead

  • I hate Combichrist; epsecially that slut Kourtney Klien; yeah she's hot but she's so slutty that shes practically pornstar material

    this record sucked!

  • The Ultimate Warrior and Bill Hicks had a child...Very good review!

  • This guy could be a wrestler...Got the dialog down to the "T"...

  • the only death metal band who hasn't changed their style are cannibal corpse

  • @electricguitar1212 With the exception of a change in lead guitar, Obituary haven't changed their sound since they started.

  • R.I.P Morbid Angel 1989-2003

  • @tab6496 What the hell? MA was formed in 1984!

  • @deadfishy666 sorry, I forgot, 1984-2003 ;)

  • @deadfishy666 Album wise it was 1989.

  • You are funny

  • You have the worst hair I have seen in my whole life! God damn!!!

  • i love it when coverkiller reviews an album he hates, so much ferocity haha

  • hey I have that same Pink Floyd thing you have. we should go bowling sometime

  • can you not wear sunglasses? I would like to see your eyes when you speak to us!

  • Comment removed

  • If I could take your review and change a few words, I could turn this into a review of The E.N.D. by the Black Eyed Peas (a.k.a. the St. Anger of hip hop)

  • Fuck you all, i like to listen music and not to listen blá~blá~blá about music!

  • now that Lulu sucks worse than St. Anger, might as well call it Death metal's "Lulu"

  • LOLd @ 3:20 Radikult the fuck is that!?

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear dude.. try Karmablade instead for real metal

  • Jeremy Jahns said in his review of Season of the Witch, "When a movie's release date keeps getting pushed back, it's a pretty good sign that it's going to be absolute shit."

I would say that this rule also applies to albums such as this one.

  • Comment removed

  • "Radikult, what the FUCK is that?" You crack me up man!

  • Last time I saw Morbid Angel they played the songs off of the 1st 4 albums! I'll keep that as my last memories of a great band! I understand Heretic was boring. You had to try something different than that. BUT, C'MON MAN!!!!!

  • what were they on these 8 years. i mean 8 years to release pure horse shit.

  • yeah i bet Pete was like "uh yeah guys....my uh back is uh not doin so well...yeah you guys go on without me id just hold ya back.....oh you got a new drummer ...coool well see ya later .....holy shit that album is gonna suck"

  • I agree with this guy the new album is crap

  • I disagree with the separation of 'experimental' and 'traditional' in reviews. Gorguts plays real death metal. Atrocity's early stuff was experimental, and their first two albums are genre masterpieces. Afflicted and Morbus Chron play death metal infused with blues. Death metal and black metal have both had tons of experimental and hybridized bands. Bands cease to be metal bands, not when they start experimenting with other styles, but when they stop writing good riffs and just become lazy.

  • at least the new season of beavis and butthead stayed true

  • "But I kinda want to try Dark Wave.." Lol.

  • "don't buy this record. FUCK" impressive :) Even I didn't agree with this guy, I would commend his conviction. Nice rant!

  • Can't believe Destructhor left Zyklon to record that shitty shit.

  • I remember a few weeks ago, a couple friends and I gathered around YouTube and sampled a few of the songs from this album. One of my friends almost refused to believe it was really Morbid Angel. He thought it was a joke when I first showed him the track listing.

  • i would kill for that pantera poster

  • @eric8542011 Same here, I like Nevermore as well. Funny how that was the single, if Morbid Angel was really proud of this album and always tried to go extreme, why didn't they pick an industrial track as the single?

  • Thumbs up for Iron Maiden posters

  • HARDCORE RADIKVLT!

  • @Princ3JaMaL Kill a Cop.

  • I was pissed off enough to stand up and start yelling aswell. I honestly thought I got trolled or something.

  • Kill a cop, cop, kill a cop, kill a, kill a, kill a cop.

  • Would you rather MA put out another boring generic death metal album like Heretic or Gateways? They had to change. Death metal died in 1996.

  • Comment removed

  • @Deathrashertv Gateways was good, I agree they needed change but the fact it was a long gap between albums and the first to feature DV since Domination they really should have done more songs like Blades For Baal imo, if they were gonna experiment it would have been better to do it the album after, at least give the loyal fans something to enjoy for a big name band return. In my opinion anyway. I respect that the band does music for themselves I expect nothing less, this was done poorly though.

  • @Deathrashertv 1st time i see someone says gateways is generic and boring. opinions are like assholes, everyone has 1 so i dont judge you.but to say death metal is dead since 1996 that takes alot of argument cause with the advent of internet and general media MOST of music genres declined in quality product.the heritage of Morbid Angel is alive and well evolved in bands like Portal and Mitochondrion.

  • @Deathrashertv Gateways was awesome.

Better than Covenant, in my opinion.

  • @Deathrashertv you are the ignorant one JACKASS, death metal still lives you poser

  • Mercyful Fate shirt FUCK YEAH!

  • "Industrial music is shit and not cultural." - Trey azagthoth.

  • it just breaks my heart to see Morbid Angel going through such metamorphosis...This is the band that produced albums like Altars of Madness and Covenant !!!!! this album made me fuckin angry

  • you're a monkey ass

  • is this the guy who produced pantera?

  • You know what's weird? Mikael Akerfeldt apparently praised this album! Oh well. At least "Heritage" didn't suck.

  • @fallofthefleshgod A lot of artists praised that album. It's called being nice.

  • @fallofthefleshgod lol Yeah. Can't say I disagree.

  • 3:00 I FUCKIN LOVE YOU!! and am soo glad i found you a couple days ago when i watched the Opeth Heritage review, i can really respect and share your deep rooted love for music, thanks man!

  • what happened? I'll tell you they let David Vincent bring his experiences from the Genitorturers, they should've fucking kept Steve Tucker...as much as I hate to say it, but they fucking should have

  • I liked 4 songs, Existo Vulgore, Nevermore, Blades for Baal, Beauty Meets Beast. The only songs I can say were decent.

  • they skipped load and went right to st anger

  • This album sucks..............

  • my wife really liked this album. nuff said.

  • Morbid Angels new album= DOG SHIT!

Karmablade= The new hope for Metal

  • Hmm. I heard this album and it's fucking great. If it was more straight up death metal it would bore me tbh. It's like they took their trademark death metal, and combined it with godflesh and cop shoot cop. They're doing exactly what they want to do and that to me is the opposite of selling out. At the end of the day they aren't paying attention to reviews, they're doing their own thing. Most interesting change to 2011 metal and possibly my favourite MA album.

  • Destructos marching! What the hell are destructos anyway?

  • Morbid Fools are so fool of themselves ...I hope cammando Pete joins a band that appreciates his

great work and friendship.those fools are full of shit already.

  • thats the fuckin truth

  • Great review man, cracked me up tons.

I read it got a 9/10 and called a Masterpiece.

And yes, it's St. Anger left-over material.

  • Comment removed

  • lol..well the positive side of the story is that if you delete half of the songs (the industrial crap) it ends up being a pretty good EP. in the other hand for fans of the band like me who have never seen them live before...this is the time!. Ive seen the recent playlists and they've been playin mostly classics.

  • @wtfjaftw

I loved Autopsy new album. Need to check out Cannibis Corpse album.

  • 5 songs were enough to justify that this album is terrible in every sense of the word

  • "lars ulrich should be fucking exiled to another planet"

    xD that's gold

  • hahahah you're a funny fucker man, i'm with ya dude. this album is terrible.

  • This dude is fuuny

Heretic was much better then this new shit IMO

  • Comment removed

  • Man, 8 years was one big shit!

  • yeah kinda not that good as the previous albums.

10 % out of 90 % i hear thrash, Industrial Metal, and a 10 % or less Death Metal riffs that is it .

  • This should be metal review of the year.

  • After hearing this album i had the EXACT reaction as hitler.......I WAITED FUCKING 8 YEARS FOR THIS SHIT!?!?!?!?!?!

  • @VonHendrixTV dude.. why listen to this SHIT when there is karmablade?

  • haha the fucken limp bizket of death metal

  • I read an article where Trey stated that the REAL Morbid Angel fans will get it and anyone who had a problem with it were just scene kids. I have been a fan since I was in Jr. High and I will be 32 this year. No one I have ever known has liked them except me out of all of my friends. Their reaction was I didn't know Morbid Angel could suck any worse. My 3yr old was singing Destructos the other day it was pretty funny. Man this album was really bad so bad in fact my son must think it's for kids.

  • @deadskinmask213 I agree man. I'm the same age and I've been a long time fan. I don't "get" their new cd at all. The lyrics are cheesy and the music is just bad.

  • ok here is what happened morbid angel got together and ate about 40 pounds of ex lax and then they shit all over their fans . at least heretic was still brutal death matal

  • FUCK new morbid angel! listen to Karmablade instead

  • Ok so Morbid Angel is laughing all the way to the bank on this one. I bought this fucking album without looking for any reviews. I mean come on man it's Morbid Fucking Angel a band that I have listened to since 1993. Sean Bevan should never have been aloud to mix this album why this band is even working with him is beyond me. When I picked up the album I saw Sean Bevan's name on it and I was like HUH Marilyn Manson oh well it's Morbid Angel and didn't give it another thought till later.

  • @deadskinmask213 dude.. fuck morbid angel, Karmablade pisses all over the new MA

  • I nearly pissed myelf laughing at 3:00

  • i havent bought the album yet but i just heard the song Nevermore and despite what you say I think its not all that bad really. Prime example of going from great to SUCK would be the Black album. these guys still have what it takes and still use that machine gun fire tempo that i always lve always liked about the band. how old are you bro ? 22 ? i been listening to them since '92. get off your soapbox and find some other truly shitty music to bash. \m/ :XvD \m/

  • Comment removed

  • @letsgo395 Nevermore, Existo Vulgore and Blades For Baal are good songs, but the rest suck massive balls, not because it was experimenting with industrial, I love some industrial bands but songs like Radikult, Too Extreme, Profundus Mea Culpa, Destructos were pathetic. All subjective I know but thats how a lot of fans feel.

Its the mixing of the dance techno drums, the tagline lyrics, thats just something I don't think mixes well with metal.

  • Coverkillernation, can you do a review of Karmablade? im very curious to see what you think

  • WHY listen to this GARBAGE when there is Karmablade?

  • Listen to Pestifer - Despise Your God

    That's PURE Death Metal!!

  • i love your t-shirt dude....

  • I blame the fact that:

    1. Pete wasn't there, i'm sure at one point he'd say "this shit sounds retarded"

And 2. its not on Earache! its on Season of the Mist! Season of the Mist is not a "bad" label, i like alot of the bands they do like Anata, Septic Flesh, and Diabolic, But Season of the Mist does not suit MA, Most of the best MA albums were on Earache Aside from Covenant which was on Giant but still that is still most of there entire work on 1 label that they should of stuck with.

  • i love this album, one of their best! this guy talks too much....

  • except st anger was decent

  • @goku413 I admit I still think St Anger is the worst album Metallica have done but no longer hate it quite so much, I can understand St Anger compared to this piece of shit Morbid record lol

  • @patorr69 i liked it, but iconcede it was terribly written. but st anger had emotion this is just bad

  • @goku413 I agree, there was a lot of aggro coming out of Metallica when they made that record, thats why I have a bit more tolerance to it, whereas Morbid Angel after the shit work that was Heretic as coverkiller says returns on a worse note, I still love Morbid Angel as I wont write them off just because of one or 2 bad albums, I guess its subjective regarding Heretic as some people do like it.

  • that thumbnail is the best ever

  • I think all the years that Vincent was in his wife's industial metal band made him forget what true death metal is.........

  • I also feel bad for Tim Yeung, I mean here is given the chance to play drums on the new album for one of the most legendary death metal bands, and it sucks. Hard. I'm just wondering what was going through his head when was given the music to play... "this is... weird industrial shit O.o oh well, I'm getting paid big money for this..."

  • I think Pete's absence really hurt the album creatively. TIme Yeung is an awesome drummer, but he didn't write any of the songs. Pete would have probably had some say in the direction of the album had he been there, but for some reason the band thought that 8 years was long enough and just HAD to push the new album out before Pete was better, or something. Anyways, I don't think Pete would have let the album go in the direction it did at ALL had he been drumming for it... whatever....

  • I blame David. To many PVC shirts will rot your mind. I thought Trey would have had more balls and not let this happen.

  • Love the shirt dude. Had one just like it. I also had a Melissa one back in the 80s. As well as Dont Break the Oath.

  • The passion...

  • Aidscore

  • I threw this on coming in going fuck yeah new Morbid.....and I almost crapped my pants!! What the fuck happened, where's Domination?!

  • this album is straight thrash metal. Wow. Blew me away first time i heard it.

GOOD JOB MORBID ANGEL! Love you guys, good album. (maybe their best)

  • 9:41 LMAO

  • you make reveiws look cool

  • Cant possibly see any 2011 release from now on being near as disappointing as this one was. This will probably take the title even at the end of the year.

  • @patorr69 no that would be the Queensryche album

  • @DarkRetroFan64 That one was pretty damn bad but to me Morbids was still diabolically worse.

  • @patorr69 that's what she said.

  • @patorr69 'Lulu' sucks even worse...

The sounds of giraffe's being mutilated alive by blunt swiss army knives is more pleasurable than the sounds of 'Lulu'...

  • @GGGriggs I have to say I agree now lol wow.

  • If anyway someone is seeking fusion of metal and electronic music: Limbonic Art and Samael from Passage/Eternal era are still greatest bands.

  • Somehow people of death metal community think that if on album are some keys it's already industrial - belive me it's not , Bands like Allied Vision, Front Line Assembly, Necrofix are industrial .This album sounds like updated version of Mayhem's ''Grand declaration of war'' , nothing special . Fucking Combichrist is Lady Gaga of aggresive electronic music , calling it industrial is already insulting.

I must admit that I can't stop laughing at Morbid Angel's ''St. Anger''

  • PETE MADE MORBID ANGEL, WITHOUT HIM THEY ARE NOTHING, I FEEL SORRY FOR POOR TREY

  • I'd rather have Vincent leave MA and just stay in the Genitorturers..

In that case, it wouldn't be a problem. This kind of music doesn't fit for Morbid Angel, in fact I'd rather have them disband than doing this shit. Or just change the band name, or create a completely different band, just DON'T RELEASE THIS CRAP UNDER THE NAME MORBID ANGEL. Thanks. And yes, even though it's "experimental", it still sounds like complete shit. Even Rammstein is better.. and I think they suck.

  • @foxsterrealnick In my opinion, ANY album by ANY of the late 80's hair bands are BETTER than this!

  • @AngelofAnguish Yeah, and they suck too.

  • @foxsterrealnick Thank you. I share your opinion 100%

I have no problem with this music being made, but ,not under Morbid Angel. I think it would be highly favoured that the rights of the name go to Richard Brunelle and Mike Brownings project, and permission for them to play all the A-H (with a new I).

Also maybe get Erik Rutan on backing Vox and Guitar, Steve Tucker on Bass and more backing Vox (B era would sound amazing), and of course Pete on drums.

=O Would that just be the best thing?

  • Even the so-called death metal songs on the album pale in comparison to the classic material. Poor production from the "Limp Bizkit of death metal." That's quite an appropriate comparison. And this is much, much, much worse than Heretic.

  • I think they should've done what Immortal did and become a completely different artist to produce non black metal stuff. Then again atleast Immortals' 'I' didn't suck ass.

Plus the line up without Pete Sandoval is just simply not Morbid Angel. I think they should just remake 'I' while they can instead of there being a 'J' just yet.

  • P.S.

Better take my last comment as your first warning pal.

there won't be any more warnings, and you DON'T want us fans getting psychical and irrational.

    we are all HARDCORE RADIKULT.

    you've been warned , fella.

    Bye - morbid angel army

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris What are you going to do, WEAR SPANDEX in his face..?

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris

    hahahaha

    you're cool
