  • Thats so not E-Flite anymore, overpaint it on the fuselage at least XD

So you swiss guys thought... vector thrust, we don't need that crap, let's just put a decent propelling system on this. Very nice one

  • @ForceM1782 Vector what?! The motor mount was strange anyway and had to be maintained in place by a servo...

The paint is a bit of an issue, it is not Kerosene proof, but then it sticks incredibly well to my fingers... This is my training / beater turbine airplane, so I will not bother too much about the paint.

    Thanks for the compliment :-)

  • Expensive hand warmer! We all wish we had the money and know how, great job!

    Come to Queensland, its warmer!

  • @Paulchoppysoo I would love to come to Queensland, have already been there a few years ago, Mount Isa, Emerald, Bundaberg and its Rhum... I like Australia very much and will certainly come again :-)

  • LOL thats INSANE!!! :)

  • Sehr schön genau nach meinem Geschmack "Hammer" :-) Grüsse Pit

  • @Keropit Danke :-)

  • Hi Vital I saw the pics on the forum great job and thank you very much . I had a few questions like how much it cost for the turbine set up without the cost of the radio and plane , I already have them . And also yOu said you may be willing to post a video of how the turbine itself starts ,stops, runs etc. Thanks buddy

  • @Purepain76 Hi Purepain. The turbine is expensive, it is about 2600.- CHF or 2600 US$. The best is to ask you local hobby store or look at the online offers. For the turbine video, I have to wait for better weather, winter is back and it is snowing and cold again... sorry. But I will make one, promised.

  • so what do you have to do to stop the foam or plastic melting once the turbine shuts down.

Is 100 degrees C at shutdown too hot still? Might not be so good for me here in Perth where the ambient temp is over 30 degrees C.

  • @Raptor50aus You don't need to do anything, there is no danger of melting. The air gap between the turbine and the plastic is big enough, the plastic does not even get hand warm. But if you are worried about the heat, you can isolate the plastic with a thin sheet of balsa and put aluminum tape over it. Or only aluminum tape. I might come to Perth next year :-)

  • @Shomelin Ok thanks

  • great job! awesome idea, you're the best.

  • @Shomelin Thank you very much I am looking foreword to the How to video I will set mine up and post videos of mine in action with the turbine as well . I now have two scimitars one that I bought yesterday and the other is néw in the box I thought the same thing lol I should fly a stock one to get aquatinted with the flight characteristic's and than put a turbine in the other one . Thanks again and I'll be patiently waiting for your video of the turbine install

  • @Purepain76 I have a thread on the forum on rctodayshow com. It is in the airplane section: Turbine Scimitar. You will find pictures and a description. It is really simple and does not need a lot of explanations.

  • Awesome job and Great flight . Would you be willing to possibly email me a list of what you used to convert your kit to turbine ? Maybe a list of the turbine, and other things you used to complete it I just bought a new scimitar and haven't put it together yet and after watching your video I want to do a turbine conversion lol thanks bud

  • @Purepain76 I can tell you how to do it, no problem. You need a turbine, the Jetcat P20 fits in perfectly and all the tubings, valves, fuel pump and electronics that comes with it. Two small pieces of plywood to mount the turbine where the electric motor was. A tank, I took a 500 ml PET lemonade bottle. And a knife to cut away some foam and plastic.

But first: fly the Scimitar electric to get used to it. I will make a little how to and publish where you can find it, ok?

  • How long can you have it fly?

  • @HARCHER77 The tank (PET lemonade bottle) has 500 ml. The turbine takes 107 ml at full throttle. But for most of the time I fly at about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle with some boosts at full throttle for the fun and set a timer at 4:30 min. Such a flight takes about 250 ml. Plenty of fuel left, I was surprised.

  • Fantastic conversion. Looks like it gets small very quickly. Great work!! Nice field too

    /Steve

  • @worthingsteve Thank you. The Scimitar has a good visibility, it looks so small because of the zoom level.
