@bountyman2000 if I remember correctly, the time stamp feature disappears each time the cam is turned off or perhaps each time it's plugged into USB. Try setting time with file, unplug from USB and test one single video not photo. I had a lot of trial and error attempts when I fooled with it. Is it possible your cam is different? Maybe its a later version that requires different methods.
just considering buying one of those cheap cams and this one is an option too. Video seems to be interpolated from 320x240 and the sound is horrible, it sounds like it's downcompressed to horrible measures.. but well, maybe it's ok for THAT cheap camera. you certainly helped me.
Anyone who want easy instructions and the software on how to set the time on this cam, just shoot me and e-mail address where to send it! I sell the cams and have the software. Cams sell for $20 bucks plus shipping. Fast USA shipping!!
I use a FlyCamOne2 but this looks smaller with a better picture resolution. I'd have to lose the time stamp though - can you turn it off? Anyway, really enjoying your videos, keep 'em comin'.
I cant post a link in the comments but, just go on ebay and do a search for "spy gum hidden cam". Many people sell them for an assortment of prices. I ordered mine directly from a Hong Kong vendor for $19.95. I bought the micro SD card separately at my local Walmart.
I bought one... the seller gave me these instructions which worked for me...
1Delete everything on the MicroSD card.
2Create a text file called TAG.TXT in the root directory of the MicroSD card.
3Open TAG.TXT and enter the following, correcting the date and time:
[date]
2009/09/27
21:00:00
4Save TAG.TXT.
5Eject and power-on the camera. The system will analyze TAG.TXT, then set system time according to what the file indicates. After that the text file will be deleted by the system automatically.
You feeling ok bountyman? No salutation or methods you've tried just an immediate comment with exclamation marks. Geez man. Did you save the file in upper case? It sure works for me. How about contacting the guy you bought it from instead of screaming at me here.
@helipassion i saw nothing in the initial comment about using UPPER CASE. had i known that, i would have tried that. maybe i'll bring my cam to you and u can do it.
@bountyman2000 I'm not the only one who posted instructions in an attempt to help others. Many of the comments illustrate that the file is in upper case. Best of luck to you. Contact the place of purchase for help.
@helipassion i appreciate the help from you, and all the others...problem is, none of the solutions are working..and i sure am not going to contact the seller in china to resolve this problem...but of course, something that should be so simple....is hard. i will keep at it until i either find the solution; or just throw it in the creek and be rid of it.

On my camera
the text in the TAG.TXT which works is:
[date]
2010/01/28
10: 45: 00
(note that there is one space after the text in the first and second line)

Try this:
Delete everything on the SD Card
Create a txt file called TAG.TXT in the root.
Open Tag.TXT and enter
[date]
2009/09/27
21:00:00
Save it, eject it, then power on camera.
See if that works for you.
