  • rock on

  • I like this but it still needs to lose 400 pounds

  • @Burzum325

You'll have to lose EU and US safety regs, first.

  • @PulletSurprise

or by using lighter materials and taking out superfluous features

  • @Burzum325

Enjoy paying $50,000+ for the smallest car BMW has in North America, then. Using stuff other than high density thermo plastic, steel and aluminum makes things expensive. So does removing things that make owning and driving the car easier. The history of major manufacturers' high performance models tells us this.

  • @PulletSurprise

You just want to argue huh? It seems as if you're an apologist for the trend of weight/size increasing. All I am saying is that this 2 door 1 series weighs 155 pounds more than an e46 330i. What are suggesting when you say we can't have a 3000 pound small car. It's pathetic really.

  • I'm as far away from being on the side of the regs as it gets. I'm not suggesting anything, I'm just telling you where the development of modern passenger car has gone in the last 20 years as a result of ludicrous amounts of federal nannying and fear mongering in regards to auto safety. I drive a 1996 M3 E36 that's almost 250 pounds lighter than this 135i even though the 135i is like 6 inches shorter. A new M3 E90 is bigger and heavier than an E34 M5. All of this is absolute garbage.

  • the 2012 now has the 7 speed double clutch gearbox.......this car is SICK

  • fantastic review

  • BMW needs to get back to naturally aspirated. I love my e-30...if i could pay cash, Im not so sure I would for this car. Of course I would have to test drive it first.

  • I just bought a used 2008 135ia coupe but it's like brand new! Talk about bang for your buck!

  • And also i dont wanna hate on koreans or americans they each make good cars but i always feel like at least korean cars i always feel they try to copy the big dogs to be taken like a big dog now i dont know about you guys but id rather by or stick to something which is the lead hand upon things rather than to buy someone who copies and last of if you wanna talk reliability my grandad has a 1977 mercedes e280 with 1.269.700 kilometers in it and it still runs it still pulls 110 km/h and all the e

  • @OBrechkin u make alot of sense, i completely agree

  • Cars always will break down we find more faults with german cars because there is a lot more stuff to go wrong with them than most other car companies and also about the korean cars being better when have you last heard of the koreans/americans come up with a technology that puts the whole car world in ahhhh never its always the germans and japenese who do so

  • @OBrechkin agreed

  • Actually, some BMWs are built in America.

  • @bmw318racer

Only the ones no one actually drives, thankfully.

  • pffft....it's NOT a puppy! :P

  • JUST BEAUTIFUL!

  • Ha ha! Now we see that all over the world substandard BMW cars have been withdrawn due to faults! I suggest you all buy Korean! Sorry to hear about the damage done to the car by Hyundai driver. There is no excuse for poor driving and I hope you get your car fixed.

  • tubegangsta - Maybe you are German and drive a BMW?

  • Yes Korean! Yes a Hyundai owner!

  • The Koreans will overtake all the German car manufacturers. Hyundai is a quality product and so reliable too. German cars are not good any more. Asian the way forward and the future. No American or European car and compete with Korean quality and reliability and safety too.

  • @Ancupola Hmm, let me guess, you're either Korean or you drive a Hyundai. Comparing Hyundai to BMW is ridiculous and should NEVER be done.

  • @Ancupola yeah right. thats never gonna happen. you wanna know why? cause german cars have balls. hyundais dont. in fact some jackass in a santa fe rear ended my 1998 323is and you wanna know what happened? i got a cracked tail light. he had to get a new front end.

  • @Ancupola are you really saying this? Yes, Korean cars are amazing these days. I would say it's better than Japanese and off course American offerings. But I doubt they're better than the Germans. Would you personally take a Sonata or a A4 if they were both free? Yeah, that's what I thought.

  • @Ancupola

    german this korean that

old z4 is made in america! go germany bmw i mean in america made bmw but german history carmaker bmw!!

go britisch bentley gt that is designed by a belgian but is britisch cause it usses materials from germany VAG group! yeaaah goo britisch cause you put the thing together but you rulee yeaaah go britisch

    come on sucker!

carmakers use the world you know, not just a country.

share parts or order better parts from another planet i mean country.

  • I stand by the comment that Korean cars are now the best in the world.

  • Bmw should make a BMW M1 (not the old one). Imagine this car with 420 bhp!!!!

  • @sarokas12 they are

  • @kukuruyuk I agree wholeheartedly there is some dickhead down my street who pimps up his Mazda pickup revving it every time he drives up the street and sometimes i hear it at 4am! Anyway this BMW is amazing and for what it gives you in terms of performance is well worth the money you pay for it.

  • This 3.0 liter engine feels faster than the lightweight 135i?? It is the 135i you idiot LOL

  • Many 'German' cars are now made in Ukraine, Brazil and South Africa. The quality is not the same. Hyundai are now safer and more reliable and fuel efficient too for that matter. Korea will take over from Germany in car manufacturing. The people who waste money on BMWs will one day learn. The world is now an Asian economic play ground. Europe can not compete with Korea or China.

  • German cars are amongst the best. Hyundai however now make cars to rival the german offerings

  • Comment removed

  • @Ancupola are u kidding me, have u noticed bmws owners switching for a hyundai?

  • @paulhunter123, dude thats almost heart attack material even mentioning BMW in the same breath as Hyundai....... Especially since Hyundai aren't even as good as Honda, Nissan and or infinite..it just makes no sense he would say that lol so for get BMW lmao....Bimmers are the best :)

  • @Ancupola hyundai dont they make washing machines?

  • Its never gonna be a bmw thougth

  • Comment removed

  • @Ancupola HAHAHAHA

Maybe in looks, as they steal everything they design from other companies and their design languages. As for the mechanics and driving experience? Not even close.

  • What are the risks? I've never done it but you make it sound awful dangerous.

  • well it's good to learn :)

  • I only know numbers and crap about speed and handling not fuel efficiency

  • I actually don't know anything about it I'm only 14

  • well my mom has a 2006 Volvo S40 with the manual and she's been saving money just by coasting and the speed is the same for most of the time, not losing speed. :P

  • Wat a car I was confused by buying a coupe. Caymen or 135i and now 135i is the best

  • Yea yea, everybody can stop complaining about the price here and there because it's just the way it is, here in the Netherland it will cost $80.000 US dollars, the starting model. It ridiculous but it's also reality. I suggest buying a second hand car or get rich :P

  • americans cant make cars

even hyundia made a good sports car

  • over powered.under delivered...it is easy to make powerful car but to make one with tatse, flavor hmmm cadi is on the right path but i dont think so...

  • americans wish they could build cars like the germans

  • well at least we dont have 9.5% unemplyed ppor illiterate hillbillies, rofl

  • lol, so true

  • @paulhunter123 wish i had a 135i lol

  • @RedDynasty05 its ugly as sin worse bimmer since the compact

  • @paulhunter123 lol i like the 135i theres no other competitor that can beat its performance for its price. The Porsche cayman is slower then the 135i so that says something theres a 20k difference in price. If it looks bad u can always mod it with packages like ac schintzer etc.

  • @RedDynasty05 hey punk. The porsche cayman is a revolting blend of marketing and style gone wrong. Also Ac Schintzer wheels make these over styled fussy bms look even fussier.

  • cayman is a bitch car. Its just a cheap porsche to say ohh i have a porsche. If you want a porche for its true heritage and meaning get a gt3 or something worth talking about.

  • @suprakilzz26 Hey, while you're at it, you might as well get the GT2 and the Carrera GT, since a perfectly balanced sports car a.k.a. the Cayman is now a "bitch car." Just make sure mommy and daddy could afford it for you.

  • @tubegangsta yea sry i dont really like porsche's all that much that i would buy every single one... Nor would i have my parents buy it for me, i like earning my own things...Yea the cayman is perfectly balanced but still its a cheap porsche, u never hear a guy boasting about their cayman, thats the point im trying to make...

The gt2,gt3, or gt are all very stunning, not the cayman. Its just not special i see like 5-10 on a daily basis. Maby its just where i live tho, lots more impressive cars..

  • @suprakilzz26 The Cayman S makes 330hp and can be paired up with a DSG transmission. Also, it is mid engined, which makes the car FAST. It's got lots of potential, but of course, it's still in the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to the models, I guess that's what you're trying to say.

I just thought it was weird that you called it a "bitch car." A Porsche is a Porsche, whether it is a 987 or a 911, it's still a high performance vehicle with a racing heritage..

  • @tubegangsta yea i understand where ur coming from too, i didnt mean like "bitch car" like that. Just that there are certain people that get a cayman and think its some real hot stuff therefore they are bitches imo becasue they act like that in my area. Met this guy at a car show and he wanted to join our car group. We said yea until he became a major dick saying his car was the best and all this other b/s. But ya i guess im wrong to judge all caymans by one guy. Just i was pissed at him atm.

  • @paulhunter123 German cars tend to have lots of faults as they get older. My dad has a 2004 Audi A4 and a 2004 BMW X5 and used to have a 1992 BMW 735iL and 2001 Mercedes ML430. We have had several issues with them: electric mirrors/seat failures, fluid leaks, battery flats, overheating, brake pad failure, windshield wiper malfunctions, etc. The Audi has been pretty reliable, but the Mercedes never worked properly. We had an Acura MDX before the X5, and it was faultless. Japanese reliability!

  • @paulhunter123 Germans wish they could build cars like Italians =P

  • @TheKoolestKidAround Volkswagen owns Lamborgini now lol

  • @warner735 Audi is from Volkswagen and Audi is the one that owns Lamborghini

  • you'll have to spray paint that

  • would be nice but who'd dare?

  • stick shift lets you truly feel the car

    you have much more control

and plus it helps with gas mileage

  • Automatic shifter usually have better mileage. I'm 15 so I can't really argue about the "feel" of it but I can say an auto drives more relaxed because you don't have to think about shifting. Manual is more sporty indeed.

  • A manual tranny is way more fuel efficient, because you don't have the car in drive, you have it in neutral. When going on the highway, you can put the manual in neutral, and you will save so much money on gas. With an auto, you will be losing speed, not keeping the speed.

  • Ridiculsously obvious that BMW paid this guy to sweet talk the car.

  • Downright ridiculous that you write ridiculously wrong.

  • Downright ridiculous that you think he wrote it when he obviously typed it:)

  • manual or paddles is better

  • stick shift or auto?

  • stick shift

  • Very good review. Thanks!

  • in about 2 months my dad is probably going to buy the 135i we went for a test drive at a bmw dealership , and we loved the performance the acceleration and everything , I could say that it feels as fast as the e46 M3 or even better because my uncle has one and I've driven both and the 135 feels very good well let' s wait to have it

  • I got that in white :D i got it for christmas

  • No i am not.. i just for christmas come on..

  • just for christmas, the thing i get for christmas is something that costs about 50 to 100 dollars.

if i say i want a car for christmas i get hotwheels.

  • you make me laugh

it was a special gift like i never get ever again..

  • still, if you take a avarange of the people who gets cars as a present, its not much.

so your still, a SPOILED human

  • excuse me

my adopted mum gave it to me

  • How did you lose your parents? No videos of your 135i?

  • Well mum, deid of brain herroage and dad commited sucide 6 days later and no because my laptop doesnt let vids go into this..

  • you know what bro?... kudos to you that you got yourself one (howsoever you may have got it)... don't listen to people putting you down because of that... your'r not spoiled but fortunate. if mum could afford it why not?? as long as you didn't demand for it... now that would be spoiled.

jealousy only burns the people who are jealous... enjoy your drive.. peace.

  • Suppose and i didnt asked i got it by surprise

  • .. 1st series is not even luxury car isn't it? it's just an average car

  • in fact, it has the same equipment as the 3 series it feels like a much bigger and more expensive car and with the performance pacage it is like a mini m3 just with the exaust sistem

  • Well, its more of a sports car, but yeh, it is a luxury car.

  • Cool Car, but the looks are a bit ..... too dull

  • the only thing missing in this car , are the lower fog lamps...but .. i think its a supercool car

  • this is a fine machine... id say its the real 3series. the new m3 has strayed from say the e30 or the e36.

  • WTF are you talking about? This is the best looking BMW.

  • i didnt know owen wilson rates cars...

  • lmao

  • well, its america, the land of opportunity and cheap things right

  • That car is very nice and i live on that beautiful island :)

  • I luv the taxation in MALAYSIA!!!!! this car is about US$35,000.. add on the tax imposed in Malaysia (REALITY CHECK EVERYONE) price of car + 10% tax + 125% (3.0l engine) + 10% = about US$85,750.... that's the price we get in malaysia.... even a ferrari F430 is is 1/2 a million US$ in Malaysia... check it out everyone WE IN MALAYSIA ARE SCREWED, SCREWED, SCREWED... i drive a 2.5l diesel toyota pick-up with almost the same price of a 135i in the US.

  • sigh... in Sweden this cost equally to $83k US

  • mate why the fuck is that??, around here they sell it in like ...160000000 pesos, 80k, been so cheap at the states it beats the shit out of me

  • get a haircut charlie

  • 35K US. Thants dam cheap in aus we got to pay like 75-80K. And our exchage rate is like .92 of a US dollar

  • PELLAPELLA PELLAPELLA you`re such a dumbass...

  • PELLAPELLA!!! your probabley a chick..any car making over 300 horse power is no chick car...that speaks for it self you got a problem any body here want to talk shit come at me..

  • nice vid!

  • The 1 Series is intended for people enjoy driving a fun, fast, well-engineered car that doesn't cost a small fortune. Easy to park, easy to fit in the garage, fun to drive and it doesn't cost a small fortune. That's what BMW had in mind when they created this car. People who think this is a girl's car have issues of their own. Know the facts before making dumb comments.

  • This car is people with driving knowledge...go back to model kits, lttle boy.

  • fag

  • I WANT this car

  • Not really true, I live in canada and we drive rear wheel drive cars in the winter. Long as you put snow tires on, you are good. People who think they can drive in the snow with all season tires and idiots. Plus the traction control system works pretty well in the snow on the newer bmws. 4 wheel or all wheel drive can help but it really not needed, in most cases its just a waste.

  • why? sti and evo are faster and 1 series coast thousands more. bmw even charges extra for metallic paint

  • STI (2004-2007) and evo (2003-2007) are only faster than the 135i from a stop, and not by more than a few tenths of a second. the new (2008+) evos and STIs are slower than the 135i by about a half second. R32 is just slow when compared to any of these cars, it barely beats the GTI

  • They don't charge more for metallic, they discount non-metallic. O_o

  • No, they charge extra. just go to bmw website and see.

  • evo and 135i cost the same. The new evo starts at 35k...

  • It really depends on the type of driver you are. If you like to drive in a luxury car and speed every now and then, go for the 135i. But if you like modifying your car then go for the STI or EVO. I personally would choose the 135i because I wouldn't doubt everyone would try to race me if I had the STI or EVO.

  • Is he wearing football cleats?

  • That´s a realy cool car, that´s a lot of power, and that isn´t even a supercar. Good value i think.

  • i'm sure you wold prefer a ford truck or something

  • no he probably can only afford a metro or something

  • Lightweight

    300hp

300 feet of torque at low rpm

0-60 in 5.1 sec, thats cool.

If I could get one I would add an intake

    and a Juice Box.

  • How can it be expensive! It's a BMW, a proper BMW, and stonkingly quick for just the equivalent of 38000 australian dollars in the ultra-competitive US.. which is less than what a bloody Renault Laguna costs in Australia ;).

Folks seem to say it's only barely more than a WRX ( sti model? ), that's radically cheap for such a fast high end German car.

  • Pitty this thing on road will be around the 100k mark. Stupid governement taxing our cars so Holden and ford au can compete

  • You'll find that in Australia this car is $75,000, the equivalent of $US67,700!!

Twice as much profit for greedy BMW distributers down under, a HUGE amount!

It's incredibly cheap, it's barely (in Australia only 20%) more expensive than a 'econo-based' WRX or Evo, and for such a light car with such a big engine, it would be a incredible quick and cheaper proper well made BMW!

  • awd? why not just get a 328xi or 335xi when you are done w/ the sti? my father just recently purchase a 328xi and it is just a fantastic car. we live in NW Pennsylvania.

  • How much is this car going to cost in US?

  • the 128i w/ the 230hp engine will start at $28600. the 135i on this video w/ the 300hp engine will start at $34900. bmws are the best.

  • hey does the 135i coupe handle just as well as the 335i coupe? is it faster than the 335i? i am guessing it because its lighter.

  • the 135i coupe is supposed to be slighty faster because of the obvious couple of hundred pounds taken off.

  • these are more expensive in the UK!

we pay equal too $58,000 for this!!

  • like fuk do they!

those plasic ford f150 piesces of shit are like mondeo's!!

  • get a life

  • Well if you compare it to a 2008 wrx subaru. which starts at $33,495 with "only" 493 its pretty reasonable price. Both cars are performance cars.

  • over rated!! evos are weak.. 170hp or less at the wheals.. only good thing about then is the awd, other than that garbage.. the best bang for your buck is an sti, but then again whp is not 300, just like any other car in the 300hp range, they are all over rated. shelby gt 500 whould be callet shelby gt400

  • shleby dont do corners and this car with 50/50 weight distribution is still there and it don't break down!

  • my bad 240whp for the evo

  • This guy is driving like a pussy, he is going like 10 mph, as he says he can really feel the sportiness!!!!

  • damn right

  • Yeah cos he's talking to the camera genius!

  • why is it 3375 lb ... that's insane. My Nissan Altima is 3358 lb and it is much much bigger then this car.

I really wanted to buy this car until I heard about the weight. It's just too much for such a small car.

  • all bmw are heavy!!

  • the 128 will be below 3k pounds,, the transmision is made of some type of aluminium that lowers the weight, also the body built is lighter,

  • The curb weight given my given by other makes is different then bmw's unladed weight which includes a driver and luggage.

  • Go fck ur mum

  • it sucks at the back

  • the trunk is really ugly

  • fuck off man BMW RULEZ!!!

  • I want to see the '08 1er Tii tested

  • heavy for such a small car.

  • 3,300lbs is light?

  • @ikeike2 I was thinking the same thing. Especially considering how small the car is. This car is smaller, yet heavier, than my '94 Volvo 940 Turbo. Seems like a portly little car if you ask me!

  • move out of the way IS. 1 series is here

  • the IS is not a coupe. You cant compare those two cars together.
