@bassplayingbastard That's why the Deep Purple line up with Ritchie and Lord was sooo much fun and awesome to listen to. I think they litteraly played off one another and the solos went back and forth: highway star is a perfect example...and with respect to your instrument the bass...I wish Glover got more solos in because the bass has such a great sound! Enjoy your skill! :)
when you see a rock band playing with orchestra u dont know who is more too self-esteemated,the rock band, that every single member stands by himself and everybody remember him and his name while the orchestra is just an "orchestra",or maybe the orchestra is too self-estimated,while they're playing their "pure classic music" with serious snobic expression on their faces while the "vulgar animals of rock" playing their animals music.Who is more too self-esteemated himself?i supposed them both...
Really good stuff. Funny fact is my last name is Lord too and i'm the keyboard/organ player in my band. I never saw this guy before but i always been into organ and hammond. Great sound!
You're 100% right. When it comes to the Hammond organ, Jon Lord is the first guy most people know, along with Keith Emerson. Lord turned me into a Hammond fanatic, through him I became obsessed with this instrument and discovered other great organ players, such as Jimmy Smith. Lord was the gateway into the Hammond universe for me, and still is my idol.
i had little exposer to deep purple until the last year, sofor me it was the sound of ken hensley and his heavy organ sound that spurred the love of the hammond organ in me. come to think of it, ken hensley is a mostly OK organ player, it's just his amazing sound that makes him spectacular
the best composer of XX century, thanks to exist Jon, I'm pround of you, whit all the respect for Don Airey...please...COME BACK TO DEEP PURPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
u dont just have to listen solo jon lord.he was inevery big band u can ever imagine.i agree solo work is important but listening everythin can give u a wider view of things
Never a mediocre solo or improvisation from Jon. He is one of the reasons I kept listening to Deep Purple as long as I did. Long live the king keyboardist of rock and classical delights, its a celebration!
Er hat bei Deep Purple den Rock auf der Hammond neu erfunden!!!!

Jon Lord plays organ as good as Ritchie Blackmore plays guitar. I know the instruments are different, but the skill is the same.

You never saw/heard Lord and you claim to play organ. Just as if you never heard of Hendrix and play guitar. Lord = Organ God

I never said i played like im. I just said it's a nice coincidence.

Of course he is. Did anybody before him turn the Hammond into a raging beast by plugging it into a guitar amp and playing songs like he did?

He's back! Or his back. Anyway, lovely bit of Sarabande, I wish he'd do a tour in the UK of his solo stuff, what a great artist outside of DP!
