  • Mr. soft is, no discussion one of Steve Harley's best tunes ever!

  • This was the most terrifying advert I have ever seen I would run out of tge room when it used to come on tv

  • We used to sing this in primary school

  • whats the song from

  • Was this like 1994 on Britich tv?

  • @nAtespOOny

    Yeah about 1994-95.

  • this is what your like after ketamine

  • @LuminaOfficial Lol so true

  • what year was this out

  • @LeahWalters1 1988

  • steve harley and the cockney rebel.

  • @hgvneil It was a Top 20 hit for them in 1974 :)

  • my brother used to take the piss out of me by calling me mr soft.

i used to hate it when this bloody advert would come on.

  • don,t be so soft mr hard on you can have sonic-nad ranger sweats to power is not there you made my day lol a ghost and ghost town with ghost in it lol this is so funny than caspers night of the dead stories

  • The spearmint softmints are not blue anymore unfortunately they are now just plain white.

  • @LenaDelovely thanks for the info

  • is this robert smith of the cure singing?

  • Wow! I forgot how creepy this was!

  • I remember going out with a guy who did this including the lampost and he lost his wallet

  • NEW! KETAMINE SOFTMINTS! COMING TO A DRUG DEALER NEAR YOU!

  • haha he moves like liam gallagher, but has the face of gordan, SICK! lol xx

  • Good tune.

  • roy west

  • Jeez, its about 22 years since Ive seen this...and even now the laughing letterbox still gives me the creeps! lol

  • @ashleelmb It doesn't laugh, it chews the mint. The laugh is just a voiceover for the song motherfucker.

  • @DtotheAZZLE: Mother fucker? Wtf? Was that really justified in hurling abusive slurs at me? And I know it chews the mint but where it laughs it makes it look like it was laughing aswell, whether it is intended for it to be the letterbox or not. Anyway, who cares...? Get a life, you fucking idiot!

  • @ashleelmb It was very justified. Youtube allows this kinda thing. Justification granted I believe. None of this banter changes the fact that the letterbox (not a real letterbox btw, it's all set up for the ad) isn't laughing, but is chewing a mint (not really chewing a mint btw, letterboxes cannot do that). I'm glad we've sorted that out, now you can tell people that you were wrong on so many levels.

  • @DtotheAZZLE: Just because youtube allows you to post abuse doesnt mean what I said deserved you calling me a "motherfucker"...thats what I meant, and no...justification not granted. There was no need for calling me names over my 1st comment. I actually knew that the letterbox chews a mint, I'm not fucking blind...you asshole. And I said "the laughing letterbox" not necesarilly because it was actually laughing but it was bit of a guide on which bit for people whove never seen this advert. prick!

  • @DtotheAZZLE Oh and by the way, were you say its "not a real letterbox" and then go on to say "not really chewing a mint btw, letterboxes cannot do that"...well its not a real letterbox as you pointed out so the fact that you say letterboxes cant do that is totally irrelivant because it isnt a real letterbox is it? So your point saying that letterboxes cant do that is pointless because then you imply that is is a real letterbox by saying that it cant really chew a mint. You contradicted yourself

  • Comment removed

  • @ashleelmb lol, I think you have confused yourself there son. There is absolutely no contradiction whatsoever. Contradiction is to say one thing and then say the total opposite or something different, which I have not done. I just pointed out the facts, which you clearly do not like, as you have continued in an attempt to defend yourself against my verbal, but TRUTHFUL, onslaught. What is it you internet folk like to say? ah yes... EPIC FAIL!

  • @DtotheAZZLE: Son...? Ok, dad. Lol, you contradicted yourself. Just admit it...and yes, epic fail....when your mum shagged your dad and concieved you 9 months later, you idiot.

  • @ashleelmb I think you have completely overlooked the whole point I originally made in favour of swaying the topic elsewhere to try and win an argument you clearly do not have any chance of winning as it doesn't exist. Back on topic here: the letterbox DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT laugh. Please take that on board, go away and think about it, and then come back when you realise how wrong you are.

  • @DtotheAZZLE: And my point was, you didnt need to make your comment with "Motherfucker" at the end of it. I couldnt actually give a toss whether the letterbox laughed or not tbh. Giving me abuse was uncalled for, so swivel on that bitch!

  • @ashleelmb But I still did it anyway so what can you possibly do about it? Nothing until you are about 10, and then you can shoot me down with your water pistol.

  • set this on repeat and smoke a spliff!

  • i used to love this guy as a kid......now i'd seriously punch the fucker he's fuckin intimidating lol

  • they contain psilocybin?

  • Being afflicted with a bouncing walk resulted in me having this sung at me everyday at high school. Bad times.

  • I feel so sad... I remember all the words o_O... and my partner has just seen it for the first time and feels a little sick in her mouth - double o_O!!!!!!

  • @99fruitbat Same here, ahh the young uns dont know what they missed!

  • Oh man I remember this!

  • i like the music

  • wish adverts where like this now adays, all we have now is GO COMPAREE!!! or WE BUY ANY CAR DOT COM !

  • Ketamine walk

  • @iandeansilk hahah totally!

  • Love this advert. Imagine if it was made today? No set full of soft stuff. They actually had to build the set. Today is would be all CGI blue/green screen stuff, and done for 10X the price, for 10X less a effect.

  • @BunWackettBuzzard i know what you mean - adverts, tv programmes, films all had to really WORK to make things. Nowadays it really does seem half arsed...

  • i love the song

    who sings it??

  • @Poxipol2 - It's Steve Harley / Cockney Rebel. Good tune!

  • @monkeyboydai thanks :)

  • @Poxipol2 my

  • this bloody frightend me as a child!

  • what a disturbing advert. I remember this being on in the early to mid 90's on TV. Now I just think of "I've been driving in my car with my friend Mr Soft" lol

  • awww this video brings back memories. our english put this on when a was in S1

  • @misshoneyz2dabify yeah, you can tell he was a lot younger when this was made though, lol ;)

  • Anyone else feel the need to finish off with "They're crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. ARMADILLOS!"?

  • @Telepresent

    TWO ARMADILLOS!

  • @CYMRUTUBE

Apparently from 1987, but I remember seeing this some time during the mid/late 90's also. We often see old commercials come back around a few years later here in the UK.

  • @ByYourCommand Just like the Crunchie adverts. They seem to use the same one for decades.

Not complaining though, I prefer English adverts to most other countries. They always want to be creative.

  • I remember this from my childhood. Never wanted to eat softmints more than I do right now!

    Hmm...off to get some!

  • O.O I'm speechless

  • quality

  • He should be the next Doctor Who monster!

  • Ketamine

  • You know this goes to show that drugs are bad!

  • That wasnt a bad tune
