WOW! I'm a retired flight attendant that was based at SAN and that runway brings back a lot of memories for me!!!! The landings were steep, but the take off's awesome! I saw the San Diego Sports Arena, and Harbor Blvd. as well... I even see the comuter building was the old PSA building....PSA was a fun airline!!!! What memories....good shot! :)
Did you board from the outter small termilnal? taking the same craft from SD to Monterey this sept. . Love those embraers. They can glide for a 100 miles without any engine power.
Lol, I love how they thrust to 50 percentish, and wait a bit and then floor it... that is a signature of the old days or old jet engines. These ones however have fadec so there is no need to wait for things to settle before going full power.
Man, HOW I miss San Diego!! Lived there for over 10 years. Flown in and out of KSAN on everything from 767's to Brasilias. I used to take the redeye frequently when flying back home to Fort Lauderdale. Back in those days, the 727 was still flying. All the way to ORD or ATL, it was several hours getting there to catch the connection.
Great video! I'll be taking this aircraft type in a few weeks LAX-DEN. I'm looking forward to it, but I still can't believe they are flying this type of plane on the LAX-DEN route. Gonna be fun though.
@musico81986 From the commuter terminal to 27 in SAN, Its not a far taxi but they must of done it for a specific reason, obviously has something to do with fuel but in any case, you are right about "some" airlines that taxi with one engine to utilize the rule of saving fuel for long taxi's.
wow for a second I thought it was going to overrun the runway it was taking so long to takeoff ;)

Great view of MCRD San Diego. I remember flying out of there, I got the same view. It was good to see 3 months of pain and misery disappearing.

did they start to taxi with only 1 engine running??
AARedSox327 2 years ago
Yes! Seems all airlines use this tactic when doing a long taxi run, especially from DFW Airport...to save fuel.
