In this song Amy is singing about how lithium leaves you in an emotional prison. she does not want to let go of her depression and pain until she becomes completely happy because even though depression is a negative feeling, it produces extremely intense and stimulating feelings that can be very addictive. because of this she only feels right in depression, no matter how sad she truly is.

Lithium works better for me than 26 other psych drugs. Lithium is romantic for me in that is was one of the three elements created during the big bang including hydrogen and helium. Taking this drug makes me feel closer to the creator and closer to the universe. Sure I wish I didn't have to take it, but I do because I have to. by my own choice.

Coming from the point of view of a depressive and somebody who enjoys a darker subject matter... i just don't understand how this video is getting dislikes.

It is certainly accessible by the main stream. it is beautifully sung and played by amy lee and the guitar parts don't over shine or suffocate the lyrics in this skin tingling introspective of such a touching, sorrowful artist.

i used to take lithium, it was horrible...i was always sick, i had to take 600 mils everyday three times a day, plus i had sleeping medication. i can realate to alot of amy's song so deep and true. after a month of takeing it i stoped and pretended to bc my mother would threaten to take everything dear to me away. finally, i told her and eventually i stoped all medications all together. im doing fine now and im feeling mentally awsome. medication isnt for everyone. a pill doesnt cure it all.(:

For me. the songs does talk about the drug, but not as an addiction but to loving its effect as a medicine, for high depression patients and bipolar patients lithium is one of the most common remedies, so that its why maybe the songs says "I don't want to forget how it feels without Lithium", because it brings the depression all over again.
