  • Does anyone know what the ladies are doing today?

  • tuuune

  • I have always loved this song since I was about 7 years old. That's how my music taste ran way back then. I still love it just as much. Thanks for the posting.

  • @NastajjaP Thank you! A lot of info out there... & many errors. Appreciate your effort to lessen mistakes. I don’t know how I got Theresa 'Washburn’. I may have this error for Can't You Take a Hint, too.

Whoah? I see that Chess' liner notes on 2 different Chess CD sets w/ Gems stuff has (Theresa) Washam on one AND Washum on the other! Even this gal-group’s members vary between these sets! Seems they’d get it correct…

Thank you for reading my comment - appreciate your thoughtful reply. :I:

  • The Gems on I Can't Help Myself (likely a 5tet): Lead singer Jessica Collins w/ Dorothy Hucklebee, Minnie Riperton Theresa Washburn, & Bertha Watts - b/w Can't You Take a Hint (1964)

Riperton had a voice covering 5 octaves! (Minnie 1947-1979, breast cancer - R.I.P.) She was a/k/a Andrea Davis on a few recordings.

Raynard Miner, doing great piano work here, gets credit on BIG hits: Rescue Me, (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher [credited legally] and others. :I:

  • @Finkanslig Hi I just wanted to provide a correction. Theresa's last name was Washum.

  • these girls were a few years younger than me -- or at least minnie was.

    this is real talent
