You need IrShell in order to disable it.

You have to use it just once every time you update your firmware (I'm assuming you use custom firmware)

hmm, i disabled magicgate with irshell, formatted it a certain way I read online so that when I bootup my psp it doesn't lag/hang for 4 seconds before the xmb pops up. do u experience this problem? it takes like 4 secs for my xmb to show up when I turn on the psp. but games/video/music etc. read at a fine and fast rate. any help?

ye but i had a 4gb magicgate sandisk mem card, and it would just load the boot screen right away. when I said xmb screen I mean showing the boot screen/boot sound first. but there is a delay lik in this guy video you can see he turns on his psp and it takes a bit for his screen to actually turn on. this has to be because of the photofast.

Well yeah I think your Photofast Adapter is damaged and yeah you should try different cards and maybe you dont have same cards from like SanDisk eg.? write me a pm for more questions if your problem still exists

with ir shell you can use your psp 1000 as a universal remote you can wirelessly play games/ use files off your pc hard drive you can access files from your pc using a usb cable you can listen to songs more efficiently you can listen to songs while playing umds/isos you can access your memory card filesystem, i think you can plug your psp into your psp and use it to connect your psp to a wireless network, you can emulate different firmware iwth devhook, you can your psp as a alarm clock

Don't care about magicgate. If the memorystick is not compatible with, it will just not use it. I use a unofficial MS without MG and i don't have to disable anything.

True, I have a "fake" Sony 4gb memory stick which I have had for some time (like 6 months) and it works flawlessly and it can be written to without any problems, I also haven't lost any data and of course it says "magic gate: unknown".

I am glad that you can finally enjoy your Psp now. Also, the Psp 3000 is a great thing, especially with its new Display. Check out my other videos to see what kind of emulators you can use on your PSP.

As a Note though, You can only use Micro SD cards in your Psp which have the same Size! So a 8 Gb and a 16 Gb MSD wouldnt work.

No, it works just like any other Memory Stick pro duo in your psp - except for the magic gate, which is useless anyways.

And both will work, but I recommend Toshiba or Sandisk. That might be just my opinion though.
