Besides the whole dragons and swords elements, Final Fantasy is a plot-driven turn-based RPG and Skyrim is a 1st-person free roam RPG. Not even competitors. Skyrim competes with Demon's Souls/Dark Souls, Fable and perhaps Diablo or Baldur's Gate more than FF. Derp.

And 2ndly, if you knew FF8's storyline, you'd know WHY he was screwed up. Granted, same could be said of Cloud (Though Sephiroth really had no reason to be emotionless..
