  • @CLAHENAGU72 fuck u.... what´s the boring??

  • @CLAHENAGU72 your face is a bad solo! FUCK YOU!

  • I bow down to Peter criss

  • awesome i love drumming it rules and peter criss is my biggest influence in drumming

  • PETER CRISS ALL THE WAY.

  • Sorry, but this solo sucks air. He plays nothing but singles...nothing syncopated. Lots of energy...nothing else..no tecnnique.

  • @vgr112261 type in peter criss drum solo 1976

  • @koringn just did, peter criss kick's ass wearing steel toe cap boot's!.

  • @koringn I don't need to, It's in the related videos list. (YAY!)

  • @vgr112261 I have twelve year old students that can do this. No offense to Peter Criss. He's the reason I started drumming in the first place and his legacy is intact as being influencial. The only really great player in KISS was Ace. Not a great solo.

  • Best Kiss drummers in this order - Eric Carr, Peter Criss, Eric Singer. Sorry, i love Peter but i had to put Eric above him

  • i love this solo it shos off peters style, and groove!

  • this drum solo is by far the best i 100% luv it u rock peter xxxxx

  • I think he was the best one but they all were good

  • I think he was the best one but they are or were good drumers

  • best musician in KISS hands down, with ace a distant second, paul third, gene, dead last

  • killer drum solo

  • Im already bored..... same fill over and over.... but loved em as a kid.

  • @mjs92882 He is unimaginative.

  • He is good, but I perfer Eric Carr

  • Imagine the strength in his arm muscles, now imagine trying to arm wrestle him LOL.

  • I cannot get enough of this video! Rock on Peter!

  • Im just lerning the drums and im only 8 years old but I love peter criss.

    Harry white

  • not that good but better than most

  • @techstuff76 There are tons of drummers better than Peter Criss.

  • @canucktheclown most kids my age meaning 14 15 years old i can play better than that

  • @techstuff76 Some probably can.

  • @canucktheclown peter criss it´s tons better thar u....

  • sorry jm Bev Beven Of ELO is the best

  • Peter Criss is my favorite drummer, next to Keith Moon.

  • fuck sake, the Rev aint got shit on this asshole

  • @Utubepooperful That's not saying much as Peter Criss is terrible.

  • sounds like they're running his kit thru a phaser... that's cool but I really like Eric Carr's solos batter

  • No wounder they went famous, one of the best drummer ever...

  • peter...was so awesome....buddy rich....re incarnated.....off the hook..!..bad ass.!!!.

  • @bakersfieldmusicnow Don't compare this shit to Buddy Rich. Buddy Rich was light years ahead of this shit.

  • this is fucking awsome

  • Not to bad.

  • Criss

  • Hail Peter Chris of KISS!!!

  • this drum solo by peter criss is ok but eric carr was better

  • peter chris was the shit

  • Peter will go down in history as one of the best. Maybe not THE best, but definitely one of the best. Other than with Kiss fans, I think he's under-rated. Just my opinion as I'm not a musician, just a music lover. I'm sure he inspired many to take up the instrument. Listen to his solo on 100,000 years and you've got to admit the guy was pretty good.

  • Who the fuck is comparing this to neil peart??

  • Joey who?...

  • Ok, does anyone know when His drums started going up in the air? I thought it was some time during the 70's as Tommy Lee and Joey from slipknot have mentioned thats where they got their ideas from?

Thanks to anyone who can answer this

  • @promenoshi That happened during the encore song "Black Diamond"

  • Peter Criss is cool ......... But I never like the sound of those Pearl fiberglass drums.

I had even bought a set, because it was the latest trend back in the late 70's.

The next model Pearl came out with was a Hybrid wood shell with fiberglass added to it. They sounded real good.

  • any1 who dislikes this doesnt hav a soul

  • music!!!

  • Single-headed drums just don't project as well as double-headed...at least live they don't. I bet this solo would sound better on a record. Nice drumming all the same, though.

  • man look at him hit those drums! luv ya Peter!

  • very very jazz influenced....alot of people dont know this ....rite b4 peter joined kiss.. he was getting taught by the late great GENE KRUPA..... and if u know about great drummers of the past thers 2 names that always pop up....one is buddy rich and the other is gene krupa.... if anyone really likes this solo I SUGGEST U GO CHECK OUT THE 1976 SOLO ON YOU TUBE AS WELL......NEXT TO NEIL PEARTS Y Y Z, THIS IS THE BEST SOLO I EVER HEARD.......BLOWS AWAY BONHAMS MOBY DICK DRUM SOLO....

  • peter criss was ten times better than neil pert

  • @markc51569 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I'm sorry I thought u said that he was better than Neil Peart.... But you said Pert he might have been better than this pert guy.... as for Peart on the other hand, if u meant him ur insane, criss is a decent drummer compared to most professional drummers but to Peart... he's awful

  • 2nd parts are never better. Singer, you can keep on sucking Peter's balls, as much as Thyer does to Ace's. This is the ONLY Cat man, and without him , there is no KISS, just a cover band. Kind of like The Beatles without Ringo, or John. got it?

  • Although Eric Singer gets the job done. (and that's about it) the old songs don't have near the same feel as when Peter was on the drums. Peter is a all around great professional drummer where Eric is a good rock drummer. Peter added certain complexities to the music.

  • I'D LIKE TO SEE A FACE OFF BETWEEN PETER AND TRAVIS BARKER, YAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! :O

  • Go Peter!

  • can u believe douche said carr was better? he was ok yea but he was nowhere near the level pete was on all in all pete was is and forever will be the badest ass drummer that ever and ever will live

  • Not that fastest drummer, but the "Cat Man" sure got style!

  • He loaded the kit with tom toms and he mastered them

  • I love Pete, he was awsome when he was awsome. Watching this video says all that. Those early Kiss songs to me were perfect. Watching this as a 7 yr old was mesmerizing. As an adult and a drummer he could have done without the reverb and sound fx. It pads the performance and the skill. God bless u catman!

  • I went to a KISS concert in june.

    It was great

  • I was there great concert as always

  • I dont know when in 1977 this was filmed in Detroit but I saw them In Detroit in January 1978. Same stage setup...Alive II tour. It was the 1st concert I ever attended. I was 15 and these guys where gods! This is supposed to be at Cobo but I saw them at Olympia Stadium. Peters drum riser also rose into the air when I saw them like the back cover of the Alive II album.

  • @pedraw Wow, so cool that you saw them in their prime! This is the 'Rock And Roll Over' tour- very similar staging to 'Alive II', but on the 'Alive II' tour they wore the 'Love Gun' outfits. Peter is a phenomenal drummer- great feel, great solos, great voice! He rocks!

  • I dont know when in 1977 this was filmed in Detroit but I saw them In Detroit in January 1978. Same stage setup...Alive II tour. It was the 1st concert I ever attended. I was 15 and these guys where gods!

  • AH! peter chris the O.G.

  • Happy Birthday Peter Criss! a hero! Kiss forever

  • Sorry to say but I had no idea that he was that great of a drummer. He certainly rocks with the best of them.

  • @OneBigFriggingDude I also suggest you check out his drum solo for song "100,000 years" 1975 and / or 1976. I have one of them favorited on my channel. This guy was really good--esp. in his prime.

  • PETER CRISS IS AN AWESOME DRUMMER!!!!!!! HE WAS A MAJOR INFLUENCE ON ME TO BECOME A DRUMMER!!!!!!!

  • amazing solo, drums sound really weird, but i like them

  • that like totally rocked !

  • Peter was technically very good when he was on form in the early days, you don;t get voted 2nd best in the world behind Jon Bonham 2 yrs running for nothing...

  • no body can drum like Peter does.....:)

  • @316003161 Peter was technically very good when he was on form in the early days, you don;t get voted 2nd best in the world behind Jon Bonham 2 yrs running for nothing...

  • @316003161 Peter was technically very good when he was on form in the early days, you don;t get voted 2nd best in the world behind Jon Bonham 2 yrs running for nothing...

  • @316003161 Thank God!! Hella-lame!

  • I'm a schooled drummer of 25 yrs. and I'm a huge fan of the masters like Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Neil Peart, and John Bonham. However I was 10 yrs. old in the mid. 70's and Peter Criss was like my Ringo Starr. As drummers the feel is more important than alot of notes. If you can play alot of notes with feel, great. Peter Criss played with great feel and was perfect for those classic kiss songs. My 1st drumming influence without a doubt, Peter Criss rocks.

  • @jmdrummer7 hear hear....I love this guy....great entertainer...KISS never had a bad drummer! Schooled musician or not music is largely a matter of popular opinion........this stuff sounded and felt great ! God Bless Peter Criss! Once again I Love This Guy!

  • @jmdrummer7 Well said!

  • @jmdrummer7 You nailed it. Drumming is not about notes to me or showing off. It is about feel. Peter had such a swing to his style. Of course that had to do with his love of jazz and big band music. It made the early KISS songs swing! There could not have been a more perfect drummer for KISS. Same goes for Ringo and The Beatles. It just...fit. And fit perfectly.

  • @jt20042 Agreed! Eric Carr and Eric Singer were and are really good drummers in Kiss but when people talk about Kiss music, it's always the stuff that Peter Criss played on, he just had the style and feel to swing those songs like Strutter and Rock N' Roll All Night.

  • @jmdrummer7 I agree. I mean I have all the respect in the world for both Eric Carr and Singer. Carr had a heavy style and his drum style suited what KISS and most other rock bands were doing in the 1980's. Singer is solid, but when both of those guys play KISS songs that Peter originally played on, they didn't sound quite right to me. There is only one Catman:)

  • @jt20042 I hear ya loud and clear. Peter Criss was the original and the best drummer for that band, and often wrongly disrespected. A great example is The Pearl Drum Co., Peter Criss played their gear and put them on the road to where they are today. He was playing their gear when nobody else was, what did they do for him? He's playing DW drums now. John Bonham passed in 1980 and Ludwig still proudly puts him on a pedestal, as they should. C'mon Pearl show the Catman some love!

  • @jmdrummer7 Yea, the drum solos on Alive 1 & Alive 2 are classics. Not the fastest etc... but the feel and timing is what makes them great. Same with Ace's solos. His sense of feel & style makes his solos far better than any million notes a second solo. They have enfluenced so many people since the 70's. Ace & Peter were masters at knowing sense of style and feeling the music.

  • @jmdrummer7 Totally agree with you! My first drum hero was Ringo Starr because I have a older brother that is a mad Beatles fan, the house resonated with Beatles songs all day all night! But as you grow up & learn about other drummers & different music you start to develop your own style. But I never forget the 1st inspiration that got me hook or interested in drums & music.

  • @jmdrummer7 well said! agreed totally

  • @jmdrummer7 Anybody can play the same thing over and over like this. You can play with feeling, but if it's the same thing over and over it gets boring. You need to be imaginative, show some technique, and shred the kit a bit. Peter Criss is not even in the top 100 greatest drummers. He is only talked about because he is in Kiss.

  • @canucktheclown Technique is great, I think the stuff that Steve Gadd did w/ Paul Simon and Steely Dan is a classic case of technique w/ feel. However in bands like Kiss, The Beatles, and The Stones, the songs come before each individual instrument. Also, as drummers when we go over board w/ technique we usually appeal to other musicians and loose the average non-musician listeners. After all, drummers from Vinnie Colaiuta to Peter Criss admire The Beatles because they appeal to the masses.

  • @jmdrummer7 I don't want someone who appeals to the masses. That would be like me like Jimi Hendrix because he appealed to the masses. If I want to like a musician, I don't want to like them because the masses like them. I will like them for their talent, ability, their passion. That to me is more influential than appealing to the masses.

  • @canucktheclown I agree that people should not listen to or buy music based on what the masses like, but the fact remains that there are people that work all week and when the weekend comes they like to crank up some Kiss, Beatles, or AC/DC. For others they might enjoy Rush, King Crimson, or Yes. To each his own!

  • @jmdrummer7 If you like the former three bands you mentioned and not because the masses do than that's fine. But following a trend in music because you think it's cool to do is dumb. I think Rush and Yes are amazing. I love progressive rock/progressive metal.

  • @canucktheclown I agree, musical taste is personal thing. I do like the Beatles but I also like Rush. Playing and studying drums in the 80's the big deal in rock was the heavy grooves of Bonham and the progressive playing of Peart. Like I said, I agree that following a trend to be cool is ridiculous. I could never get into the New Wave music of the 80's (eg. Flock of Segulls) or the grunge sound of the 90's.

  • @jmdrummer7 There is some good grunge music like Alice in Chains. I can't stand Nirvana.

  • @canucktheclown Yeah, Alice In Chains would be the one I'd pick if I had to pick a grunge band. By the way just saw Rush back in April, great concert. To celebrate the 30 yr. anniversary of Moving Pictures they played the whole record to start their 2nd set.

  • @jmdrummer7 Temple of the Dog (short lived band) and Pearl Jam are two other better ones in the grunge genre. Shut up, I've always wanted to see Rush in concert! Take a look at the two drum solo weeks on "The Late Show." There are some amazing solos from those two week of what I saw. Neil Peart, Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree, Anton Fig (CBS Orchesta plus a session/freelance musician), Tony Royster, Jr., Sheila E., Stewart Copleand of The Police. All great stuff.

  • holy shit looks how fast the high hat is going up and down!

  • Good solo but kill the sound effects. Pete's car crash in 78 wrecked him as a drummer cause he never saw a doc about it and he later got bad arthritis in his foreams. He was an arm drummer not a wrist drummer.

  • I miss Peter ²

  • >.< i miss peter

  • tribal drums solos are simple but awesome and fun!! this is how you play drums !!

  • okay he's not the best but hey feel the groove... oh man this makes me shake.... hmmmm I'm in the mood to dance arround a fire >.<

  • peter criss remains in that category..the one and only catman..and also, let's not forget eric carr..who was a much better drummer than peter technically, but could still groove..eric singer's a very good drummer and is technically better than the other 2, but not one who'll go down in kiss' memorable history....

  • peter's solos were not about showing off chops or how fast or technically good he was...with peter it's all about groove, and rhythm , and having a good ol' time..i'm a professional session drummer and engineer and owe my formative years and learning to peter criss..yes , we all know that his not he's not a technically good drummer..but neither was ringo, keith moon,or charlie watts..and they're some of the most memorable and beloved drummers in rock history because they could groove !

  • I forgot how good he was...damn!

  • einfach genial mega mega geil die Legende lebt

  • haha I love how people say he sucks while half of those people probobly even can't play the drums.Peter Criss maybe isnt one of the best but he sure knows how to entertain people. He deseserves alot of respect .

  • He was good enough that he SHOULD have worked his solos out a bit more. His drums also SOUND kinda crappy and putting the FX on em diminishes it even more. He should also have laid off the booze and blow until AFTER the gig.

  • great. a drunk guy that threw a stick into the audience.

  • peter criss drum solos had continuity, this is the only drummer whos solos i've ever been able to sit through.

  • erick singer can suck a dick

  • sorry the best drummer was eric carr

listen to kiss in australia in 1980. best sound and lineup too

  • @armann500 Don't be sorry,it's TRUE. I myself prefer the original line up,but there is NO doubt that Eric was a KILLER drummer and energized the band to a level they hadn't had since probably 1975.

  • I think the old single headed tonal toms were cool

  • He'd do fine, without drugs........

  • He was the reason i wanted to play drums.

  • i think Eric Carr was the best drummer

  • I saw this tour back in 1977,in the Omni in Atlanta, and it was awesome! Peter Criss is one awesome drummer, and a good guy.he was actually one of the legendary Gene Krupa's students, and has drumming influence from him.Long live Peter Criss!

  • i dont like him that much

think he plays always you know kinda the same

  • Gene's brother Harry Witz on sound. (founded DB Sound in Chicago) Single headed toms. Shitty mics. Phase shifter effect. No gates...no compression. There sould be footage somewhere of this solo done in Japan...itz longer and Peter goes off on a different direction....very technical.

  • The problem is the audio. Aside from his snare, all the toms sound the same so it's difficult to appreciate this solo as much as it deserves. Peter is no Peart or Bonham, but when he was good he was REALLY good. Unfortunately when he sucked he REALLY sucked(Largo 79).

  • No stair cases for this particular show?

  • CRAZILY

  • wow still get goose bumps listening to this solo the origanal and the best.

  • Eh, it's ok.

  • Peter Criss is so freakin talented and i have so much respect for him

i really wish that he had stayed with the band though =/

  • ever since this Drum Solo, everything else get's messured by Peter Criss

  • peter criss isnt techically really good drummer but he plays with feeling and heart

  • maddest drummer ever kiss really sux with out his original drumming he is one of a kind

  • best fucking drummer ever he plays with so much feel and power

  • Best drummer, so much heart!

  • Peter criss ROCKS!

  • @Bashfulbonzo Well I'm not a drummer. I'm a guitar player so I don't really know too much about drumming. But this solo sounded pretty good for just hitting anything on the kit.

  • cirss>carr>singer

  • @Bashfulbonzo You got me there man

  • He makes it looks so easy...

  • dont you realize its all about showmanship and entertainment, its not about drumming technique and skill... if you want to see skill and proficiency then goto a small jazz club... not a stadium,,,, you need to realize this as quick as possible or you are going to be forever conrfused!

  • EXCELLENT!

  • i hate this fucking jazz drummer

  • @fyrifan - Funny you say that, because most rock drummers don't have the groove, dynamics, feel and general ability to play jazz. I like a rock drummer as much as anyone, but jazz is incredibly technique oriented.

  • @knoxpages Don't know if you knew this but Peter Criss studied under the great Gene Krupa.

  • carr > singer > criss

  • It to me it looks weired to see one bass and all those tome but anyway peter was awsome.

  • that was way good and sexy lol

  • oh yeah Antone......2 thumbs up...

  • gay..

  • If your a druumer and you don't hear the Gene Krupa influences in this solo you need to look up some Gene Krupa vids. Krupa was a big influence on Peter and he study with him some as well. Peter is a jazz big band guy. Playing in rock.

  • I reeeeally love KISS but Peter Criss is a bit... meh. He's just playing single strokes all the way through, nothing special at all :(

  • super.........

  • Mickey Dolenz lives!

  • @Lehamic It took me 30 minutes to stop laughing enough to type this. Mickey Dolenz lives!!! In the words of Jim Rome.Epic! That is the funniest shit I've heard in years. I've been a Kiss fan since 74 and 7 years old and thought he sounded good on their studio albums but his solos were awful. I remember thinking the drum set I made from Baskin Robbins ice cream containers and my moms pots and pans sound better. I have never understood why anyone would allow that noise to be released on an album.

  • @rockluvr77 The kit sounds terrible. The tone of it is just awful. I don't understand why Peter Criss gets so much praise. He doesn't do anything good. There are so many better drummers that are better that don't get half as much praise.

  • Comment removed

  • @steve5568 Who cares if he wore makeup? That overshadows what is supposed to be his ability. I don't care if you wear makeup. If you have talent, ability, technique, than all that flash doesn't matter.

  • PETER SUCKS!!! Nothing but noise!!!

  • This is just my own opinion but, I think that's bull's shit,

    P.C Ain't dead.

  • Whoever said he was dead.. shame.

  • great drummer my favorite eric carr was great but peter criss has mad feel

  • Peter Criss is mediocre at best. R.I.P. catman. Your shitty drumming will be missed.

  • @MrSkulleyes pc died?

  • @sticksbass

yup. He died of feline Leukemia , caught it from one of his cats. On a side note, Peter sure could fill up a litter box after one of those infamous Italian meals. R.I.P. catman Criss.

  • @MrSkulleyes when did peter criss die?!?!?! i didnt know!

  • @mrwasanisong

Peter Criss died sometime in late 2009. After he was replaced in KISS, he vowed to eat nothing but canned cat food until he was returned to his rightful place in the band. Ironically, it was the steady diet of cat food that killed the catman. Yes, it is gross, but Peter Criss always was an idiot.

  • @MrSkulleyes

Dude, Peter ain't dead. I won't believe you until I can read it in the news or a website that tells that he is dead.

  • @baistiiii

Who cares if you believe me or not? Peter Criss is dead. He died from a combination of bad cat makeup and a lack of drumming skills. It hasn't been covered in the news because nobody cares.

  • @MrSkulleyes

Dude... You don't need to be rude.

  • @MrSkulleyes how are u a kiss fan but u dont like peter criss?

  • Don't give a fuck what you say, the Cat was an awesome soloist and kicks ass! so fuck you haters

  • Anyone who ever doubted Peter Criss's drumming ability, should check this video out.....one of the best drum solos I've heard Peter play !!
