I don't get it ... Ppl love it when it's out sing it and all that ... Then diss it if there is too many black ppl . Like y'all were the ones liking our music . White people liking rap makes a huge differences in sells .
THANKS FOR THE LIST, ... BUT ANOTHER SONG IN THE 90S has to win,....... IS THE TOP OF MUSICAL lowest decade ......I´LL BE MISSING YOU, THE SIGN, (EVERY DO I DO) I DO IT FOR YOU FOR EXAMPLE ARE BETTER
First of all, great video, thanks for the efford. Brings back some memories.
Just out of curiousity: How does Unbreak my Heart from 97 (#4) beat Candle in the Wind (#5), if Candle in the Wind is supposed to be the top song of 97?
First I hav to thanks the one who makes this video.
U r really amazing and this video should gain more views!!
I really love this video.
I was born in 1994 and I really didnt listen to most of the songs up there...
However it brings me back some memories when I listened to "I believe I can fly", "Hero", "One sweet Day", "Truely Madly Deeply" and all the classics I would say~~
Great job and once again, I do appreciate all your hard work.
@JeanMS100 "My heart will go on" had a late limited release. ONly 500,000 copies were put on shelves. That's why it was"only" #1 for 2 weeks and left the chart soon. Otherwise it would have been much much bigger .
@BillboardClassic Billboard did not publish a top 100 songs of the 80s,because they did not want to give each of the top 5 spots to Michael Jackson,as he deserves.
I enjoyed the video. But.....where is the rock music? I noticed "Rock Era" on the #1 song, but once again......no rock music. I figure Smells Like Teen Spirit would've made its way on to this list somewhere? Was BB's list only pop music?
"One Sweet Day" was #1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart for 13 weeks (one of the longest runs). Don't see how it wasn't an airplay hit o.0 (and the Hot 100 airplay was based solely on CHR back then as well)
Interestingly enough, why is "Hold On" by Wilson Philips not here on the list by Billboard?? It became the number 1 song for the year 1990. All others were here but not that. Can someone clarify this
@wyzoz Billboard made a mistake? On the other hand, the 2000s chart had a # 1 Year song ranked as low as 65 so maybe "Hold On" also ranked really low... like 101 or 102
@DJLibby1 I'd love to do the same chart for the 80s but unfortunately Billboard Magazine didn't publish the top 100 singles/songs for the decade-end 80's on their 1989 year-end issue, therefore i don't have the official top 100 list. There are a few "fake" lists can be found all over the internet but i still would like to have the "real" official list. Anyone can help me to find the official list ? :-)
@BillboardClassic Billboard never charted the whole 80s decade. The closest you can get is Joel Whitburn's book where he ranks all the songs *based on* the Hot 100l
.
Thanks for doing the 90s. I'll post them on my facebook page :-)
@electrictroy2010 Your that list is "Billboard Hot 100 50th Anniversary Charts (58 - 08). They ranked that based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100, includes their sales, airplay, entire chart runs. My "All time #1 song in the rock era (1955, YEAR FIFTY- FIVE until present ) is just based on how many weeks it stayed at #1, not talking about its entire airplay, sales, chart run. OSD had 16 weeks @#1 & it's all time #1 in rock era since no other songs had more than 16 weeks @ #1.
So proud of you for making this chart! This is some of the best work I've seen on any Billboard Chart video here on Youtube. Keep up the great work Billboard Classic! I really hope people start flowing into your channel. You have one of the most underrated channels on Youtube!
Songs such as:Freak Me-Silk, Bump N Grind-R Kelly, I'll Make love To You-B2M, On Bended Knee-B2M, This is How we Do It-M Jordan, Exhale-Whitney, One Sweet Day-Mariah, Tha Crossroads-BNTH, Honey-Mariah, You're makin Me High-T Braxton, No Diggity-Blackstreet, 4 Seasons Of Loneliness-B2M, Nice & Slow-Usher, Too Close-Next, My All-Mariah, Doo wop- Lauren Hill, I'm Your Angel-C Dion & R Kelly. For most part these songs didnt have the airplay and still to this day get hardly any if not no airplay.
@burtiscurtis09 Again I don't know how you can say they didn't get any airplay? I heard Freak Me, Bump n Grind, Make Love to You, Bended Knee, Exhale, Honey, No Diggity, Too Close, Makin Me High, This is How We Do It, My All, etc..... A LOT on my local radio stations
. Are you SURE you're listening to Top 40 radio, and not some easy listening or A/C station? I just don't understand how you can say "barely got played" when I heard all those tunes 5, 6, 7 times per day (in the 90s)
@electrictroy2010 I'm sorry if you didn't like what I said in the comments, but it's hard for some to believe.I personally know because I worked for Broadcast Data Systems (BDS), I know what got played where and how many times an hour and day or week.I worked in the biggest media mass market in the world NYC.I can say they received massive airplay in the smaller urban areas @ Top 40 radio, which along with strong sales due to discounting by record labels, accounted for the high chart postions.
Billboard had an odd way of charting singles in the 90's, based solely on sales with little airplay added in.BDS and Soundscan were the culprits.Begining with "End of the Road" in 92.Songs charted at #1 for longer weeks and debuting at # 1, and for the most part these cassette singles were deeply dicounted at retailers by Record labels so they could chart higher.Prices as low as .25 cents were offered!
@BillboardPopChart So right to how flawed the Billboard charts were in the 90's.I would say late 93 and until it all was corrected in late 98.Lots of these # 1 hits were hardly played on pop radio and rarely heard even today. The # 1 song "One Sweet Day' is the perfect example, the song at best should of charted top 10.It was based solely on sales. The cassette single was dicounted at many big retailers for as low as .25 cents just to push sales, a practice which occured alot in those days.
@burtiscurtis09 I heard 'One Sweet Day' on the radio A LOT (and is still one of my favorites). It certainly deserved to be at or near the top of the chart, for both high sales and high airplay
really i agree with but I'm biggest fan of the 80s...80s decade was the best of music!!!90s was great!!!now these days its a shame!!there's no musics...there's no movies at all...the best thing is always remember the unforgettable!!!!
so is no wonder you weren't making any new videos these past few days, you were making the special one you were talking about, and is great. the 90's were some of the best times for music. nowadays, it just doesn't really measure up.
I miss real music!!! Dont ever take this video off!!

@BillboardClassic One Sweet Day is the all-time # 1 hit of the rock era? Hmmm. According to Billboard the all time hits (upto 2008) are:
1 THE TWIST Chubby Checker
2 SMOOTH Santana Featuring Rob Thomas (most weeks at number one)
3 MACK THE KNIFE Bobby Darin
4 HOW DO I LIVE LeAnn Rimes
5 MACARENA (Bayside Boys Remix) Los Del Rio
.
29 ONE SWEET DAY Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men
