  • This is my favorite number and version of said number in H2$

  • Finch needs to stop touching Mr. Twimble's face. It's really weird. I think Morse over does it. Dan wasn't touchy feely. He was just FINCH.

  • I love this version of the musical. I wish I could have been alive then

  • 1 person doesnt play it the company way

  • @AseAvante Who is that one person who does not play it the company way?

  • @stevenhonse Bud Frump.

  • @stevenhonse the person that disliked the video

  • @stevenhonse The one who disliked the video.

  • From the YouTube video of this song from the new production, it's clear that their Twimble is nowhere near as good as this one from the movie.

  • I dream of Republicantown......

  • I was 24-ish when I saw this film and I have to say it motivated me to succeed triumphantly in making an abject failure of my career!

  • A song that is so true!

  • Get ready for Daniel Radcliff as Finch on Broadway very soon. I'm dreading it.

  • @WorldCupSeoul Amen!

  • @WorldCupSeoul Not I. I'm gleefully looking forward to it myself.

  • "Year after year after fiscal... never-take-a-riskal year." Beyond brilliant. Robert Morse cannot possibly be any more perfect and charming and musical.

  • Gotta love Robert Morse - the best!!

  • I dream of Republican stars, like Mickey Rourke with his right wing scars

  • 1 person hasn't being playing it the company way.

  • Oh yes, 'cause I dream of Republican Town.

  • @PivotProDD Where men to the right of the aisle don't back down. Where the streets are aglow with the smell of apple pies...

  • "Family Guy" spoofed this song the other night. (Something about the Republican party).

  • And to think, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) will soon be doing this on Broadway.

  • @MrLogoman007 I heard about that! do you know anything else about the show, like other cast, when it hits b'way, etc.?

  • my school is working on this musical right now. fantastic. :)

  • im doing this for a theater group im in and im gatch. i love this song and musical

  • This is a funny song, but does anyone have Robert Morse and Rudy Vallee singing "Grand Old Ivy"?

  • twimble was the most fun part i have ever played. the show as a whole is very fun. if you ever get the chance to be in it, take it!

  • I think this should be part of every company orientation video! ;)~

  • hillarious!!

  • This is a progressive movie promoting union brotherhood and demonizing the company. One of many progressive propaganda movies from the past starting in the 1940s

  • This number is absolutely brilliant. How many of us know or have run across a Twimble? The guy who in order to preserve his job, plays it safe by doing everything "the company way". Being wedded to the company, allowing it to dictate to him how he runs his life, the company can do no wrong. I've never had that much loyalty to any company. I'd rather have no job then be a Twimble and pretend to live "the company way" happily.

  • @classicphile And yet, in this economy, some people have no choice. My father worked for GTE for 27 years, and finally left when they wanted him out.

  • @classicphile Jay Leno = Twimble

  • @classicphile - You're just so CUTE in all your youthful naivete. Despite that, my wish for you is that you never experience undeserved unemployment.

  • @classicphile - You're just so CUTE in all your youthful naivete. Despite that, my wish for you is that you never experience undeserved unemployment.

  • @classicphile

And that's why you are a Classics major waiting in the unemployment line.

  • @DickCabezaLtd I think you hit the nail on the head with that comment.

  • this song is brilliantly written. i love it.

  • That's a very...Japanese...sentiment.

  • I saw this movie for the very first time in 1985-86. My relatives & I visited my grandfather at his apartment one saturday. This movie popped up on tv and we sat around to watch it. When there was still a half hour left to go in the movie, it came time to go out to eat. I wanted to stay and watch the rest of the movie, but I had to go out with the rest of them. So I missed how it ended. 12 years later I buy a used VHS copy of this movie on eBay & FINALLY got to see the movie in its entirety.

  • @classicphile You relatives should be shot for that. And the tension builds so strongly right up to where you were pulled away. I don't know how you survived that. i would have been furious.

  • I'm playing Twimble. Opening night is friday. blah. I don't like this rendition... I don't like how this guy played Twimble...It was really boring.

  • How did the show go? Did your director cast you as Womper as well? That's how it is meant to be done. It was done like that on Broadway. I did both parts. The costume change after appearing in the bathroom scene as Twimble in I Believe In You to get ready for The Brotherhood of Man as Womper is crazy frenetic. I loved it. Hope you did too.

  • @MKIced OMG. you are ridick. How could you possibly say that? He's supposed to be boring. He's brainwashed. Don't you get it? And I am certain you did not improve on this. You're talking about some serious stage actors here. Check out the bio of this Twimble.

  • Cute. I wish you wouldn't have cut off the last note though.

  • When we played this

story in Univ.,there was no scenario sold in N.Y. then,(could get music score)

we made scenario writing down words from listening video of this movie again and again・・・

    Such a long way,but joyful process・・・

  • Robert Morse is now on "Mad Men," which is set in the business world of the 1960's. I think his casting is perfectly apt (and probably not coincidental.)

  • @Kevin90028 Maybe they'll have a "H2S" episode.

  • @Kevin90028 I was hoping some how on Mad Men, How to would be mentioned like who has tickets..etc or robert morse says, I liekd it except for the lead...etc..LOL

  • business in america is crooked!

  • I luv this show, they just did it at my high school! but i hated the movie

  • You are very discerning ... one of those people that thrives on live performances. I'm with you but in El Centro CA we have to rely on film. Some day I may go to New York just for the theater. Thanks for your comment.

  • do as little as possible and get paid as much as possible....its the american way !!!! screw long hours, high productivity, loyalty and putting your family second, corporate america will be ruthless no matter what YOU do.

  • You are a bit of a cynic ... but in a good way. You know, an economist defines efficiency as minimizing inputs while maximizing output. Just a thought ... the American way is based upon efficiency.

  • I HAVE THIS MOVIE AND I LUV THIS SONG..IT'S FUNNY...WHEN I WAS IN MY MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR WE DID A SCHOOL VERSION OF THIS MOVIE JUST LIKE Hello,Dolly!with the coffee break song..if i get a chance i will tape that part..i have a vid of the school version and i will tape it that way...and put it on youtube for all u want the coffee break..

  • I am sure you blow life into the role. Good for you. Keep advancing the art.

  • no coffy aahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Life without coffee isn't worth living.

  • My favorite number in the film.

    Go Sammy and Robert!

  • There are so many guys just like the mailroom manager. God bless em. This video helped me to understand the company man mindset. Thank you for you comment.

  • Robert Morse's performance is unforgettable...

There's just something about it... he seems kinda crazy...

  • There is something special about this guy. Actors that start on Broadway sure seem to be the best.

  • hee hee!

  • Thanks for your comment. This is a delightful bit, isn't it?

  • ty for putting this up, i really appreciate it

another good one would be Grand Old Ivy

  • Thanks for your comment. Grand Old Ivy? Consider it done.

  • thank you

  • You are so polite. Thanks for your comment.

  • cheers for this I'm studing this film for my next drama performance, could you put coffee break on here please?

  • i dont think coffee break was in the film if im not mistaken

  • IIRC, the "Coffee Break" number was filmed but the director wasn't happy with the way it turned out. There was no money in the budget for a reshoot, so the number was cut from the finished film. The song is on the soundtrack album, however.

  • Sadly, only photos remain. It's probably tucked in a vault or worse, destroyed.

  • Thanks for that info. I love hearing the inside details.

  • what part did you play then?

  • i couldn't agree with you more, this is one of the unforgettable songs as well as grand old ivy and brotherhood of man

  • Thanks for your comment. I uploaded Brotherhood of Man because I could not find a good copy on YouTube.
