In Norway, we have both public and private health care. Public health care is not just tax payers who´s paying the poor people´s bills - it is an investment. The more people you can keep healthy, the more people can stay in their jobs. That means less unemployment and less people on welfare.

The problem is the federal government has gotten way too big, too centralized instead of the state's controlling where they need to allocate their resources. This stops our governmental programs from being applied in a contextual manner, resulting in areas that don't need spending to get it.

As for Good Samaritan, studies show conservatives give more to charities and church programs that help the poor more than liberals (who want to share but only when the gov forces it...and usually just fans of it when it's other people's money, not theirs)

Beck, Ruch, Hannity, and Levin all said "let them fail", and I still remember how Dem. senate majority leader Harry Ried railed on McCain for galvinizing the republicans to vote against the bailout bill. It was the Democrats who bailed out Wall Street, GM, and Chrysler; that's a fact.

Healthcare is a basic human right, not an optional extra for those who can afford it. Going by the reasoning of some Republicans, we shouldn't bother paying for healthcare in third world countries or for those who can't afford it because "Why should I pay for someone else's healthcare?" The Government of any civilised nation has a duty to provide quality Health care and education to EVERYONE regardless of income.
