What a beautiful print. When I saw this movie, the print was scratched, faded and projected too slow. And the music was awful. "The Manxman" is my least favorite Hitchcock movie, but if I get the chance to see--and hear--it like this, I'll take it.
Thanks for comment, yeah, it is my favorite scene of whole movie :) I have two different DVD editions, the old one is about 10 yrs old and very close to your description. Now I am happy for this one. Great music and picture, right.
Another great, vastly underrated film of Hitchcock's. A visual and emotional high point. Anny Ondra is heartbreaking in it.

I could watch Anny all day, whether the film's silent or in German and a fine singing voice too. A rare talent and a rarer beauty.

I got a whole disk set of Alfred Hitchcock DVDs. "The Manxman" and "Blackmail" are among them.
The Manxman was the first movie I watched. And it's the first time I saw the adorable Anna Sophie Ondrakova. It's a Classic & so is Anny.
