  • I just realized... 2:38 is what you should answer people who ask you why we like so many notes: not so much for the shredding itself (well... :-) but especially for the contrast those guys are able to create right afterwards with melody. It's like holding your breath before something amazing happens, and you can breathe again...

  • @hyphen8nick Exactly my point.

  • 4 dislikes... World peace is an illusion...

  • John Petrucci Number One!

  • 2:40...amazing!! and beautiful!!!

  • 4 dislikes for the 4 bodyguards who died for protecting the other humans of the killzone mode

  • as far as I know, it's called 'arming', by using the part of the guitar called 'arm'

  • being a drummer here... what is the effect called that John does at 1:57? Sounds cool

  • @ke70hibino I know what he does, but actually don't know what its called? But he flicks the floyd rose very quickly, to make the string vibrate as the floyd rose gets back in position. Not sure if that helped? xD

  • @TheMathMog93 @ke70hibino That would be "fluttering". There should be a whole bunch of examples on YouTube now you know the name :)

  • I have never heard a better live solo, a better solo! or an overall greater emotional shredding masterpiece. John Petrucci is a virtuoso and I will forever play guitar to someday come close to the master. Thank you JP, for all your influence.

  • This guitar solo is perfect amalgam between the passionate love & the anger

  • 2:26 Petrucci had to face away from the crowd to stop from instantly killing them all. Mike Portnoy only survived the onslaught of destruction by activating his drumming powers at 2:34.

  • @TheMusicBucket

this had me on the floor laughing. haha. thank you

  • @B4dKarma

No problem :D. It was fun to type ahaha.

  • +1 if you get the chills watching this!

  • my friend told me on 2:35 - there made JP some mistakes, but I answered: He's just playing so (much) notes you can not notice and calculate

  • at 1:43 john petrucci had an orgasm and me I just have in eargasm at 3:36

  • LMAO @ Killzone mode!! :D:D

  • At first time I laughed because it seemed like he was doing a blowjob to the microphone, but then, i noticed that it wasn´t to the microphone, it was to me, simply incredible.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4 people got their head blown after watching this!

  • This is one of those solos, that anytime I hear it, can't help myself but, crack down in tears...

  • 1:42 Gods face

  • It's like he's soloing on his talk box over his guitar

  • what a blowjob :D

  • @jockercyril lmao.

  • what a blowjob :D

  • Trooch bypasses world domination mode & goes into solar system domination mode w this kickass solo.

  • BEATIFUL, SO GREAT, I LOVE THIS FUCKIN' SOLO!

  • Even Chuck Norris could not match the awesomeness of this godlike solo.

  • Oooh that's good, so so very good, I don't mind telling you I love this bloke.

  • The Vibrato at 2:42 made me have an orgasam.

  • ne mond hogy nem szarsz be a csávotól.....

  • @MrKelemen07 a legjobb :)

  • 0:57 omg mike portnoy missing the tom..he is human!!! i gotta tell someone

  • Only 26,877 people have viewed this video, yet your average lady gaga video has 50,000 + views. Something is wrong wtih the world that this God of a guitarist is a relative unknown, while a nobody like Lady Gaga is worshiped. But maybe its for the good, i feel special to be one of the few people in the world who discovered this guitarist. The nitwits can have there Gaga and we can keep JP.

  • I LOVE YOU DT!

  • This gives me chills.

  • also: goddamn, i remember the first time i watched this too, i just sat there, amazed, my mouth open and shivering... and only upon watching it for again i could remember any of it.

  • anyone know where i can download this, if possible audio? i want this on my ipod so bad :P thanks! i promise i'll make good use of this piece of art.

  • @pantalaemon Well bud i dont know if you have been able to download it or not. But i think you can download this with realplayer OR just download audacity hook up a mic and record it on there. And if nothng works send me a private message and ill record it through audacity for ya.

  • @shaqdaddy11 yeah i got it done alright. But thanks a lot for the offer bro, the kind spirit is much appreciated : )

  • i wonder how much his talk box mouth tube would go for on ebay...haha

  • Apparently, only Mike Portnoy can sustain killzone mode. However, he is not unaffected by Petrucci's 6 billion notes per second. He himself unleashes drum frenzy.

One of the most emotional Petrucci I have seen thus far. Pure perfection; flawless.

  • wow....just, wow

  • Haha the drummer has one a Spreewell jersey.

  • this solo automatically makes u gay for john

  • @RevellAndRepend Hahahaha, best comment ever! +1 !

  • And that is why I don't like playing on something that doesn't have a vibrato arm.

  • John is an amazing guitar player. He can shred the shit out of something but i think his true talent lies in finding the perfect melody for his solo's When he gets into feeling something its guaranteed to give you the chills.

  • Watched this so many times ive lost count. Maybe close to 40 or 50.. .. . . . . Could watch another 500 times before I die, and enjoy it just as much as the first. The shred at about 3:18 can tear me up if I listen closely enough and focus time after time. Its the most emotional shredding I think any guitarist will ever be able to pull off (Disclaimer: In My Opinion ((even tho i said "I think" i dont wana spark up any arguments :P)) )

  • Jesus fucking christ

  • after he finished this solo Everyone in the first ten rows died due to excessive awesomeness........

  • jesus christ

  • for show??? why not but fot listening horrible.... but DT 4EVER

  • THIS IS JOHN PETRUCCI!!!!!

  • and Hollow Years solo live in Budokan too! :)

  • @FenderRS80 I nearly shit the first time I watched it...it's breath taking.

  • i dont know but he seems to find it normal

  • its a talkbox. he singin the guitar notes as he plays em it gives it that extra effect thing. this is the first time ive seen him do it with this song though

  • 2:33 his worst fear of playing so fast that notes will sound like one almost came true

  • GOOSEBUMPS....FUCK!!!!!

  • Me too man! Petrucci is the best!

  • is this a diff solo then the original it doesnt sound the same

  • sure it is haha, its always different...

  • Why should we care about people who say John can't play emotionally? Isn't there enough of us people whom he can move so deeply with his mixture of craziness and cries of pain on his guitar? I'm glad some people insult him. They are called superficial, mainstream, pre-chewed-shit-eating jealous people, and they only justify we're not like them.

Our job is not to teach them. Our only job is to "carry on his way" and be respectful and open-minded about everything.

    Except haters :o)

  • jp needs to stop blowing that things. He has such beautiful tone anyways he dont need the BJ machines. He should leave that to the amatures.

  • you know JP was just thinking to himself the whole time, "this one goes out to all you shit heads who say i can't play with emotion and passion. fuck you"

  • That's what I always tell ppl about JP - he is a very soulful player - some of the ballad solos for DT are hugely emotive. The new album also has some great playing - Best of Times is amazing - he makes arpeggios sound emotional!! :D

  • i luv the sound of mike portnoy's toms

  • My God, This is beautiful. I've watched this about 100 times and i still love it.

I also laughed about the killzone mode. =D

  • wow wtf that was just madness that looked like it made him feel a lot better just shredding the fuck out of that solo like that.

  • This is just absolutely AMAZING!!!!!

  • For fucks sake John Petrucci, will you stop creating black holes and time warps in my room.

  • AWSOME!!!

  • Simply amazing...

  • no dude...this is from the six degrees tour in 2002...romavarium has been recorded in Rome in Italy in 2005...if u pay attention mike's drumkit is not the albino monster

  • what dvd is this?

  • lol troll, have u made your point yet? oh yea, the irony, trolls are pointless. you've trolled 3 people, great job. it helps if you spell correctly

  • JP has more critics than proponents. Most of their criticisms (at least that I've come across) are utterly incoherent (rather like yours), so no, we aren't sheep. We just appreciate John Petrucci for the phenomenal musician that he is - He is a master of his instrument, and a superb songwriter; master of chord chemistry and melody. There's not another guitar player on earth whose playing moves me like JP's does.

  • Amen!!, nor me.!

  • Morons like Joe Satriani, Andy Timmons, Steve Lukather, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, and Eric Johnson say this guy is cool. So I will listen to them because they are more successful than you will ever be.

  • John...dude...I will put my guitar away after watching this.. I seriously have a tear in my eye now. What baffles me is how it's possible to masturbate the guitar as hard as he does, and still keep it so f#¤%&ing tasty.. The sound, the notes, the vibrato, the harmonics and off course the timing.. it's just insane.

  • ye i know what u mean... this stuff either makes u start/keep playin guitar or make you put it away in "shame"... Well, i couldnt do the latter, so i guess i'm gonna keep on xD

but this is amazing... perfectly amazing ^^,

  • haaraas...you not kiddin.. I've been a JP fan for years. He amazes me everytime I see him. I don't play guitar, but he makes me not want to pick one up. About 2:43 to the end he makes the guitar cry, and me as well. Rock on, John..Rock on!

  • proud to be a petrucci fan!!.. take that vai!!.. with all due respect of course..

  • Godlike

  • John rules... yeah... killer solo

  • John is a fucking genius!

  • one of the greatest variations i´ve ever seen..i love it

and i think naelz is right ref, you have no idea what good music is

  • great variation of the solo

  • you havent the slightest idea wat good music is Ref.. maybe you got issues or something..

  • como funciona o talkbox??

oq parece eh q ele eh um filter, mas "resonde" pela boca..

otimo pra qem empolga em fazer "Wah Wah's" com a boca hein..hehe

  • o pedal nao mudou muita coisa...

It's a pedal called Talk Box, tha has this thing to make some effects by using your mouth, I don't have any idea how it works

Ritchie Sambora from Bon Jovi uses it a lot

  • Prefiro Liquid Tension Experiment ;)

  • grandi i DT!
