  • what kind of bullshit is this? the suspensions are way higher on the exploer than the cherokee... unfair.

  • GOOD VIDEO, PLS WHATS THE NAME OF THE FIRTS SONG???

  • Put a new video up please! I want to see what it looks like now!

From a fellow Freedom WJ owner!

  • I love my Freedom Edition Cherokee! Nice to see another one in action.

  • jeep/ freedom edition ...........right ?

  • Do you by any chance live in forsyth county georgia because I am almost 100% sure that I saw this Jeep driving past the publix off exit 17 earlier today? Very nice video btw. I may be getting a 2000 Explorer XLS 4x4 soon and plan to do pretty much exactly what y'all are doing with it

  • @CC01FJ40 Nope sorry man I'm from PA...the jeep doesn't look anything like that anymore...and thanks for the complements on the video

  • @FreeDomWJ thats really crazy then, cause we have one rolling around here that looks exactly like the one in this video

  • @FreeDomWJ I actully ended up getting a 2003 WJ Grand Cherokee. Check out some of my wheeling videos!

  • I love how jeep owners look for any little negative for other 4x4s and go to town. It's like reading the comments on a ricer vid. My 98 sport X got through more than my friends sahara last time I wheeled. We both had the same height ground clearance and both had all terrains. I don't hate jeeps though I may buy one soon, I just hate when poeple think their shit don't stink sometimes as represented by certain comments below.

  • The lifted Ford has to get a running start to make the hill, and the bone stock Jeep just walks up.

    Jeep.....that's it.

  • GET OUT OF THE SHOT YOU GINGER FUCK

  • u made the Ford Explorer look bad by doing the ford first then u seen what you did wrong and did the right thing with Jeep Grand Cherokee !

  • fix your exauhst fag! fords suck!!!!!!!! jeeps rule unless u can aford somthin better.

were did the pussie drivin the jeep learn to drive? the gas is on the right not the left.

but all and all-kool vid man.

  • thats a nice jeep/ freedom edition? its got crap tires and still wheels like a champ

  • I am a Ford guy, but a technician for Chysler Jeep. In my mind there is no doubt Ford makes better cars and trucks than Chysler. But, Jeep WJ, XJ and TJ are the best SUVs off road for under 50K, especially when upgraded. I love Jeeps. I have never got one stuck. I have gotten my 89 Bronco stuck more than once, but I still love her too.

  • @TheCottonTop oh yeah i forgot the ZJ.

  • nice jeep and explorer wouldnt mind driving either

  • That Jeep is sitting stock and making it through everything that explorer is. Bravo!

  • doest that jeep have a lift?

  • Explorer, go stand on the sidelines with the rest of the "mommy-mobiles" and let the Grand Cherokee do it's job; and your job too.

  • second song name?

  • Ha ha - I love how the Explorer, with those big off-road tires, takes two tries to get up that hill and the Jeep, with all season tires, basically just walks right up. And that's a Freedom edition GC, so it probably has Quadra-Trac II and NOT Quadra-Drive. (QT II has open diffs, QD has LS diffs).

    I have both myself - a 98 XLT 4x4 and an 03 GC Overland (HOV8 & QD)

  • @01jeepgc he did trick the jeep out its got huge tires now

  • thats my brother driving the jeep hi add my channel please i finally found yr channel awsome video by the way you should go back up there and post another video from there

  • Nice explorer!

    suspension specifications please...

    Body lift?

    front solid axle?

    Super lift, trail master?

    torsion bar twist?

    Thanks

  • @adrenalinex2005 trail master 4 inch lift, torsion twist, and shackles...its right around 6.5 or 7 inches of lift...IFS in the front

my friend no longer owns the explorer it went to cash for clunkers and he now has a cherokee

  • @FreeDomWJ

WHAT!! It went to cash for clunkers? You mean they ript it apart?! What is wrong with this world... In my county they kill'd so many nice and good vehicles just because the state wants the people to buy new cars... What a waste!

  • Comment removed

  • Can't believe you would do that to a freedom edition....... Blasphemy...

  • I love Explorers but your Cherokee is amazing. Nice video man thanks a lot!

  • @MJM573 Thank you! It looks a lot different now with bigger tires, a lift, and a shit load of fender trimming. I'll try to get a vid up sometime soon. I have been very busy and haven't had a chance to upload any new videos.

  • ford sucks

  • Haha I Drive a Cherokee Man These Things are Great..

  • Jeep rules oIIIIo

  • love how the jeep is stock and the ford is tuned up my mom has the same jeep just grey

  • might wanna fix the fords exhaust movin around alot could come off. like both cars but love jeeps. very nice set of suvs. ps trick the jeep out and make it an off road preformer.

  • pretty sick dude nice video and suvs you got there

  • what's the second band??

  • explorer=gay jeep= awesome!!!

  • Well Berkheimer I've taken my Jeep GC into some pretty remote spots in upstate New York and had a blast but I don't beat the crap out of it just to "see how far I can push it." Any retard can push a car till it breaks. Keeping it running to actually get you where you need to go is what you do if you have a brain. Okay, now you can go back to chewing that beef jerky, hoss.

  • what lift does the explorer have

  • @gotmudonmymind beer- really big fish

  • sorry can you tell me which song is this?

  • I want a 5.7L hemi Jeep for off roading. My Jeep Patriot isn't made for serious off roading.

  • need to fix explorers exhaust, nice wj

  • is that jeep stock?

  • this looks like fun. :D

  • Anybody else notice that the Jeep went everywhere the ford did with STOCK tires and STOCK suspension? Plus it only took the Jeep ONCE to get up that hill! Gee, which one should I buy?!

  • anybody else would notice arent stock rims so probably not STOCK tires and they dont sit that high off the tires i would know my neighbor has one

  • Wow, a Jeep expert because your neighbor owns one. I have the same year Jeep in MY driveway. Those rims were an option that year (16" as opposed to 15") and they are deffinately not off-road tires. Look close when the Jeep climbs the hill, see any nubs?

  • i didnt say they were offroad tires and i didnt know those tires were an option i guess ill look it up to see

  • those were the stock rims for the Freedom Edition of the Grand. However, you could only get them on that edition... also, the stock wheel size on a grand from 1999 to 04 is 16 inches unless upgraded to 17". The freedom edition is sweet.

  • @crazyawesome02. The 99-04 GC came with 16 inch rims stock. The rims on that jeep are a 17 inch which came on the Freedom Edition GC. They stopped doing 15inch in 99 on the GC. They also changed the bolt pattern from a 5x4.5 to a 5x5 pattern. You must not know alot about your Jeep.

  • looked to me like the jeep only made it up the hill so easy because they followed the example of the guy driving the explorer. its quite obvious taking that hill at a higher velocity was all it took.

  • @jrowe6 Sorry sport, anybody can floor any vehicle. Ive creeped my stock 96 Grand Cherokee up hills that steep. Velocity had nothing to do with it. Only the best make it to the top. Ford cant bow down low enough when it comes to the quality of Jeep off road capability. I understand everybody has their preference so no offense, but, look at the stats.

  • @bmberkheimer, what stats?

  • @jrowe6 Test reviews. Motor trend, Off road mag., 4 wheeler, Consumer Report, Motor Week. They all do comparisons. Jeep comes out on top every time

  • @bmberkheimer, if you say so. ive been out with my friends and all their jeeps and i have an explorer. there is nothing they can do i cant do. from my perspective my explorer does better at just about everything. jeeps are front heavy, that back end goes everywhere, thats why they are good climbers tho. the jeep is for sure better for rock crawling but other than that in my opinion the explorer has all the advantage.

  • @jrowe6 Everybody has their opinion. Personally, I would feel alot more comfortable going into sand, mud, whatever in a Jeep. Mine hasnt failed me yet. As a matter of fact it had a foot of water in it on Sat. from driving through a river. Made it through like a champ, still runs like a champ. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Have fun!

  • haha awesome vid, there used to be a couple good spots around here (fort worth ) but all these damn gas drilling wells are stealing all the cool places around here.

  • Those Freedom Editions are sweet lookin!! I have a 04 GC Laredo but everytime i see one of them i drool

  • that exploder needs a regear baaad, mans got no tourqe

  • ur bac muffler is flapps on the ford alot lol.....dont know if its soposed to do that dude......but it looks like watters ganna fuk it up in a way.............5/5 i love wacthing off road videos

  • the jeep looked like it's swimming!!! my mom has one just like that but her's is a laredo!!! still love it!!! i have a ford explorer and that's awesome too, but love the jeep better!!!

  • jeeps rules!

  • these jeeps were awesome. to bad chrysler lost focus on the 4x4 off road and started making the junk they make now.

  • I want that jeep

  • Okay, I'm going out on a limb here but I really don't get the whole "off-roading" phenomenon. I can understand taking your 4x4 out in the boonies if there is a specific need to get there, like a hunting trip or something. But what is the appeal of driving around on rough terrain just for the hell of it, beating the crap out of your vehicle and bouncing around inside until your ass hurts? I just don't get it.

  • I think it's just recreation. If you take it easy in 4wd low it isn't too hard on the car. As for going through deep water, if you get water into the engine it's not good.

  • Well atleast you're not being an asshole about it. Usually what I like to ask is if the person (i.e. you) cares for driving fast. I say off roading is my safer and in my opinion, more enjoyable alternative. Very few people die driving off road, many people die driving fast on the road, not to mention it endangers the lives of everyone else on the road. Of course there is the chance that you dont care for driving fast either, and in my case I would say, "It's a Jeep thing"!

  • Yeah, my Explorer and I got your "Jeep Thing" and now it hurts to pee... jk jk

  • so you cant loosen the bolt to change the oil??? lol try liquid wrench

  • Personally, I like both. My solution: BAJA!!!!! Driving fast off road!

  • hell yes, I would love to do that one day...its definitely pretty dangeraous but thats just an epic sport....got $150000 you could loan me? lol Ill send you an in-cab vid!

  • get the Ford Raptor, seriously, new for 2010. Its a full baja car for 42G (thats with accesories) 38G base. Let me know if u want more info.

  • believe me Ive looked into it lol, its awesome!

  • ive got 2000 what can you get me lol

  • @txcountryaggie i think the same way, us Texans know what we are talking about

  • @txcountryaggie Off road is the way to go...just take care of the land you drive on!

  • If you "got it" you would probably own a off road vehicle. Most of the vehicles are made to go off road and be beat up. On the contrary why spend 50 gs or whatever on a landrover or crap hummer to drive to work n back ?Its like buying a corvette and never punching the gas!!

  • Can't argue with that. No point in getting a Hummer to drive to work when a Honda Civic would do the job just as well, and anyone with a Corvette should feel the urge to put pedal to the metal at least once in a while. I guess the "off-road" thing is best appreciated by the young. I'm 60 years old and just looking for a nice smooth ride whether I'm in my Nissan Max or my Jeep G.C. Laredo.

  • it's better than driving down the highway "just for the drive"

    lol

when i drive through huge ass mud puddles i floor it basically so all the water gets everywhere

    it's just fun!

  • @GDR352 Then dont watch the vids. Maybe some people like putting their blood and sweat into building something just to see how far they can push it. I dont know anybody that got much done by sitting on their couch. Try not to chip your tooth on your bon-bon.

  • cherokee can do alot more of what shown here , explorer should win the ulgiest car in 4wd

  • I got an '04 too... With Select-trac. 04' owners unite!! We have the trail rated badge!

Just kidding all GC's rock. All years. But is it true "trail rated" Jeeps have special engine seals for water fording??

  • I don't think there are any seals, just look at the spaces along the engine, it's all open, that would also become a problem for deep water

  • jeep throws around the "Trail Rated" badge a little too freely, IMO. If jeep made the Subaru Forester or Outback, they'd probably give them trail rated badges just the way they are.

  • subarus are the best i used to have a forester. went everywhere

  • @brad11344 subarus are pretty nice for what they are. My '02 Outback could do a lot, but in the end, it was just a station wagon built for ice and snow driving. My '92 Explorer... now that's a different story. it's a pretty rugged rig and it's bone stock. But then again, '94 was the last good year for the Explorer.

  • yea there mainly made for ice, what did you have done to your explorer? was it the 2 door or 4 door model

  • @brad11344 4 door model, all you have to do is take off the anti-sway bars on those rigs and they can flex like a champ! i'll get a video slide show of some of my adventures up soon.

  • I have a 94, love it.

What did Ford do differently after 94?

  • @StSimonOfTrent i think the 94 hade a staight axle in the front and then advance track

  • @StSimonOfTrent For '95, they went with a different body style, as well as independent front suspension instead of twin traction beam. In '97, they came out with a different V6 and IIRC, that was the first year for the V8, too.

  • Thanks Brother for that.

How did the changes effect the Fords Off road ability, in your opinion?

I own a 94 and am very pleased with it

Im considering a 4.0 SOHC engine transplant for more power, speed and torque over the OHC in there presently.

  • @StSimonOfTrent It's pretty well agreed upon that '94 was the last good year for off road capable Explorers. After that, they were really just engineered to be soccer mom vehicles. With every redesign, the Explorer has lost more and more off road capability.

  • @StSimonOfTrent and by the way, don't bother doing the SOHC swap. you'll waste a lot of time and effort and just be disappointed. It's just not that much better of a motor. You'll end up putting in the same amount of time and effort to swap in a 302 V8 and your fuel economy won't be that much less with the 302 compared to the SOHC V6

  • @jongeddes09

Im running the 1994 4.0 OHC now, only 160HP

Got a KN high performance and Magna flow exhaust, it still is lacking.

Considering headers but thought an engine swap to '99 4.0 SOHC would help another 50hp.

    Im open to suggestions!

  • Trail rated is not just on Jeeps its on other vehicles... to earn the trail rated badge you have to pass the rubicon trail in navada with a stock suspension and tires

  • @redbone5405 it's a jeep thing, and that's it. jeep copyrighted the "trail rated" slogan

  • rubicon is in california

  • i regret not getting Quadradrive... if they made a Quadradrive 2 for the WJ (solid axel) we could rule the world.

  • nice truck man good to see u work it too,i wish i had trails like that around me

lookup "jk61183" i did a quadradrive video" its an awsome system but qd2 is amazing

  • hey man

wats the name of this song???

    thx

  • Reel Big Fish - Beer

  • thx

  • A wish list for the GC's. I have a 04 Laredo with SelecTrac..my buddy has a 04 Limited with Quadradrive 1 with the V8 in it. I wish the Laredo in my year had a V8 but i would keep my SelecTrac 4 wheel drive system. The I-6 in mine puts out plenty of power but the V8 puts out more and the gas mileage is pretty much the same...

  • one more question, does that ex also have a body lift on it aswell?

  • nope

  • what year is your jeep? how many miles? any problems with it mechanically? thx

  • 2004, with right about 31000 miles and it runs like a dream

  • what tires does the ex have 35s or 33s?

  • 33x12.50 r15

  • cool that looks good! i already have a 3'' body lift, shackles. tt, and an aal, but was wondering what it would look like with the 33s and a 4'' trailmaster on top... you can check out a vid of mine if your bored...

  • Looks fun I think those grand cherokees are one of the few jeeps I like. Does the ex have the superlift?

  • nope...trailmaster

  • i love your WJ man! thats exactly what i wanted when i was looking for a WJ..i cant remember if its called the freedom edition, or columbia edition.lol..but ur jeep is EXACTLY what i wanted to get...but i couldnt find one around here so went with an 04 limited with the quadra-drive which i do like..i think it woulda been perfect if i coulda found your edition of the grand with the quadra-drive..lol...the quadra-drive is nice on the trail tho

  • ha love the beer song reel big fish is the shit!

and nice trucks man.Use to tag along with some buddies and go mudding good times man. Hopefully ill be getting a 04 cherokee soon 4x4 also

  • thanks man, and good luck with the jeep

  • did u guys break anything

  • yeah...but we try not too...i love my jeep to much..haha

  • lol

  • Did you guys do anything special to the trucks to make it go through that deep of water?

  • i have the stock air box in the jeep; it's pretty much perfect the way it is, jeep did a really good job designing it, and the explorer is just high enough to clear the water.

  • Sweet, I've been thinking about getting me a Grand Cherokee!

  • go for it man, its a really solid rig...you won't be disappointed

  • I will, I've been reading reviews and so far I've heard nothing but good things about them!

  • You end up getting your GC? I have a 04 and i love it. My buddy has a 04 limited but im not crazy about the quadra drive in it. I like my SelecTrac system better..seems to better off roading but keep Jeepin OIIIIIIIO

  • Not yet man, unfortunately I've been dealing with my p.o.s. Ford Taurus I've just gotten rid of! And with this Wisconsin weather, I could really use one!

  • i would not mind doing that to my explorer ts a 97

  • nice trucks, they both look really good and very capable.

  • wats the lift on that jeep

  • 3 inch skyjacker spacers and shocks
