I got DK 2010 as an upgrade from 2008, and they STILL have not fixed the bug where invisitasking continues to run when on battery on some systems. On my Dell Studio 15, it keeps right on running, greatly decreasing battery life so I have to manually disable the service.
Other than that bug, the product works perfectly, although the interface does need an overhaul.
@tipoomaster I don't have much experience with laptops. i have a Gateway I've used maybe twice in 3 years! So I can't speak to battery life. I'm glad you reported this, though, AND a solution. This will help others, I'm sure. Thank you :-)
I agree, the DK interface could use a bit more "user friendliness." It's a bit of a techie thing. I admit I don't know my way around many of its features, even after using it for a number of years :-/ It's always worked on my PC's.
You must be thinking of the Diskeeper 2010 "Server." The price range for Diskeeper runs from $60 - 110, depending on feature selection. Trial versions are available - Try before you commit.
I think I saw that myself with the new 2010 version. My best guess is that if you have automation turned on and running, it doesn't let you do a manual, to avoid possible conflicts and/or "over defragging." Check with Diskeeper support. They're usually very responsive.
On a side note, external USB-type devices do not require defragmentation for the most part. Regular or frequent defragging can cause more harm than good - or so I've been told.
Definitely think Diskeeper is the best defragger out there! The low free space defrag and intelliwrite which helps prevent fragmentation is really cool.
@DreamHaters Had Ultimate Defrag for a while, back while testing. It's very sophisticated and does a good job. It *looked* funky, though, and it took forever to complete the job. People have their preferences, and I don't badmouth things that don't deserve it :-)
I don't believe so. Defrag is a job that needs to be done when your computer needs it. There are defrag programs that you can set a "schedule" for, though. The beauty of Diskeeper is that it runs in the background, monitoring and defragging unattended when your drive needs it.
windows is really dropping the ball on there builtin defragger. this is the kinda stuff that should be default. Linux is way smarter then windows, you never have to defrag it ever and thats why i love it. good video
lol, I once worked for a call center, and I swear I spoke to the women that said the line for telephones... "The number you have dialed is out of service, Please hang up and try your call again" lol, I was going to say something but wasn't sure if I would get in trouble (They are fussy about that stuff)
i got it's the premium pro..it's good!..before i never defragged at all..lol but i always saw the microsoft one that comes with the o/s but never fooled around with it...it was not until i bought a intel MB where the demo come with it i knew...damn i'm drunk!
I use 2007 and 2009 pro premier or Asulogics disk defrag, Windows including defrag program (basically Windows 2000) sucks.

Yes i agree: Best Disk Defragmenter Is Still Diskeeper
StevensiTX 5 months ago
"Work on the background" means when you turn off the application, it is still defragmenting?
Kacer03 6 months ago
$56 for home version is quite expensive though, especially if its just a defragger. However im still going to try the trial and see how it goes.

it seems to work pretty good too... have yet to decide which one is better tho.
