@xboxapple1 wow you made this reply yesterday? and you still haven't gotten tech savvy even though this video was from 2011. you don't need to keep it tethered to your computer. the file is copied to the idevice and you can take those videos wherever you like. if you have windows you can use ifunbox or something similar and skip ssh all together.

...I found out by myself that the reason yours DID NOT work is because VLC actually says to place MEDIA in the var/mobile/media! NOT bloody documents!

@PickeringSamuel SSH'ing into your iPod/iPhone let's you transfer files from your computer to your device using a FTP client (WinSCP). You will need to SSH if you want to add files from your computer OR you can use iExplorer and do the same but having the iPod/.iPhone connected to the computer instead without using WiFi.

i got vlc media player on my ipod when it was legal a while back and I can still use it, even though my ipod isn't jailbroken. I use it all the time for tv shows and movies that I don't feel like converting, so its great. I wish it was updated before it was taken down though; not having the option to switch the audio and subtitles in the app sucks, but MKVtoolnix lets me work around it :)

Download that app via app store or Installous!!! It's way better cuz' you can add videos via iTunes without messing up to much and if you download this from cydia and you have mxtube too both apps videos will be on both apps so if you will download say 2 videos for mxtube and say...3 videos for vlc you will have all 5 videos on each app

Was wondering something. Is SSH a better way of transferring data for a Jailbroken iPod? I use the USB method seems easier than SSH. i may be wrong but was wondering if there was something that SSH has over USB. I have used both.

Hey ICU I jailbroke my iPod Touch 4g 4.2.1 with Redsn0w tethered and i was getting something from Cydia and it said Reboot Device and I did and now it is stuck on the Apple Logo, and i tried getting it out of it so i could succesfully reboot w/ redsn0w but it didnt work, what do I do??????????????????

@pawnage69 i had the same problem but i found out how to prevent it: when it says reboot device just exit cydia, open redsn0w on your computer, click next, browse your 4.2.1 ipsw, click next, wait for the bar to complete, tick "just boot tethered now" click next, now turn off your ipod, click next, follow the onscreen instructions and there you go, i hope it helped
