  • im not a fan of the F major version either bt its good beginner piece i like this better...but if it was in B flat major thts kinda my home scale since i do flute and can do well with that scale...

  • I'm about to purchase this and I was wondering if I have permission to sing it in a youtube video.

  • @Goodyearmonkey sure! No problem!

  • can i put this on my ipod? its beautiful!

  • I think the actual key is Bb. I think.

  • @15singerguy

No, it's A major, although some sheets transpose it down a third to F.

  • may i use this for a recording it sounds amazing! :D

  • thanks Noah, ive got the track, i hope you dont mind me using it

    thanks again

  • Ahh, it's so pretty just as an instrumental by itself<3 thanks :)

  • @jonthekeys Actually, I think you'll find that this is in A major, not A-Flat major and this is the original key. You are correct in saying that the key in most Les Mis scores that you can buy in the shops are in F-Major. I also agree with rbrettbarnes. It should be sung however you feel comfortable.

  • Thanks for the track it's brilliant. Crystal Clear :)

  • may i use this to upload a female version of this?

  • @MadameDiableret Sure! The tracks are available to purchase on Amazon or Amazon MP3 if you live in the US. If you live outside the US, PM for the link to the E-Store, if you want!

  • Hey eh just by the way, it is actually in the correct key. Well the original key anyways. In the Les Miserables School Edition it was the exact same 'difficult' key. But thats okay! Well done! :)

And is it okay if I use it to post it up as the backing track on my Youtube account along with the Empty Chairs at Empty Tables backing track? Im just posting up videos. Thanks! :)

  • Hello. I'm singing this song as a project in my musical theatre class and I need the instrumental of this song and this one is in a perfect range for me. On iTunes, they only have an instrumental of this song thats in a lower key, and since I'm a girl, it's a little harder for me to hit those lower notes. Could I please use this instrumental version considering this one is perfect? And if I could use it, could you send me the MP3 file of this song? If no, then it's alright... I'll try to find a

  • Some of you need to know your facts! The original show key is A flat. The key printed in albums for (amateur) singers is F. (Show albums are often published in lower keys.) It should be sung in A flat.

  • @jonthekeys It should not just be sung in A flat sir. It should be sung in the key that's suited best for your voice. If you're trying out for the ACTUAL musical then yea...the actual key would be preferred. Not everyone can sing in a tenor range.

  • @rbrettbarnes could not have said it better myself. im a professional singer (baritone) and get fed up of singers who strain themselves and sound awful but refuse to lower keys of songs. An audience would prefer to listen to you sing it well in a key that suits you than in somebody else's key badly! music is meant to sound beautiful. There are no rules!!

  • i'm a bari/tenor and I find this key difficult in anything other than falcetto! Just letting you know :D It's in F orginially on the sheet music, the DVD version raises it to A which is the same as this!

  • i'm thinking about singing this song for my youtube channel. do you mind if i use the track? i will acknowledge you in the video description and also include a link for your channel. thanks!

  • The entire piece is a Major third too high! If you take it a major third down it will match the show's original score.

  • I love this key! I practice my basso profundo range by taking it down 2 octaves. Thank you.

  • i find something kinda funny, they have this key, A-flat major i believe? they have another one that is in F-Major, and i am a bari-tenor so to speak, and i feel that this key actually works better for me

  • I've never heard it in the other key! Do any recordings have it on them? Thanks for listening!

  • i can take a look real quick and get back to you on that one.

  • also, i made a mistake, this key is in A-major. my bad....

  • I noticed that after I posted that comment! Thanks! :)

  • @lilmatty33059 Have to say mate I'm sing ing this in my Higher Music class (Scottish system) and this is about two whole keys higher than the one thats in the official Les Mis book we have in the department. Mybe its just the book, but I'd have to go for the lower version, I'm a tenor, but I'm no John Owen-Jones xD

  • @lilmatty33059 Yeah definately A major there man! The one is F is just silly and no one whose actually doing the musical would use it as about 90% of recording are in that key so don't bother with the F one.

  • @PaperMateMan yea, basically i had found the F major recording somewhere, and the range for me in F-major is right on the edge between chest and falsetto, and it just seems too heavy. If i sing it in A major, it has a much more floaty quality to it in my opinion.

  • @lilmatty33059 Yeah I'm not a huge huge fan of the F major one, In my opinion the song should be a quiet introverted prayer and I think falsetto suits it, and I found in the F version I constantly get distortion when I slip out of my chest voice to falsetto so it'd in a way easier to do it in A LOL but yeah I gotta do it in A for my school Musical this year anyways so It's better I practise it in that!

  • this has been absolutely perfect my audition.

    Thank you!

  • You're very welcome!

  • is this in the actual performance key?

  • Yes, from the original score with the original orchestrations! :)

  • wow this is bloody amazing!!!!!

    thank you so much!!!!

    :D

  • Thanks! You're very welcome! =)
