The guitar drowns out everybody else in the band - I couldn't even hear any of those kickass JR solos. Amazing piece though. I love the beefed up piano solo in the middle.
A bunch of nerds. The same at Paul Gilbert's shows (at least at the one I attended). Why people keep staring at musician's hands and technique instead of simply having fun at the gig?
I mean, there are people who enjoy the show, but there definitely are some of them who just keep their eyes on the Petrucci's fingerboard. Amazed? I think so. That's why they stand in the front row, to have the best view on the fingers. So why you come to a gig? To have a freakin guitar lesson or what?
By the way, it would be funny to see people dancing to LTE/DT, wouldn't it? Anyone tried? ;)
Paul Gilbert show? Was it Paul by himself or with a band. Most people who listen to the likes of Paul Gilbert and even LTE are most likely guitarists or other musicians. You might as well look at the hands, i mean what else can you look at, their crotch...? THey are enjoying it at the same time, you are just drawing assumptions.
It was Paul Gilbert with a band (I think the bass player was an ex-member of Racer X) and they played mainly songs from his solo albums but also other stuff.
I have to say that as a 'guitarist' I paid certainly too much attention to Emi Gilbert on keyboard :) check the photos from these shows and You'll know what I mean.
And take it easy, I didn't mean to offend anyone, it's just my attitude at gigs, that's all.
Why'd you drive all the way to boston to see DT? They played in florida. I drove all the way from Virginia and back the same night, 950 miles total...it was worth it.
Holy shit man that's crazy i did the exact same thing All the way from Newport news up there and back. It was the greatest show of all time I've been waiting so long and it was well worth the ride and the wait. i'll be posting some videos up shortly. It was so awesome. I was wondering if anyone else made that run lol.
I actually live on the west side of VA...Covington if you've ever heard of it. I would love to see more vids of the show man, let me know when you get them up!

The problem is that once you're playing you don't notice that. That's why sound checkups exits.

I don't like them playing with a bassist that isn't john myung.

If you don't know Tony Levin, you should hear some of these works. He's a bass/chapman stick hero.

Funny, the crowd is paying attention to Petrucci and doesn't give a sweet fuck about the legendary Tony Levin over there on bass. Oh well!

You know the guitar is more popular than the bass, but I don't see a problem here, they're all amazing musicians..
