  • thanks alot :-)

  • 2358 ferndown ftw

  • 62 SQN Glasgow :)

  • Just a quick note, throughout my time at cadets, cutting the lining out of the beret allows it to shape much better, and the fold Is very easy to mould too. If your unsure, ask you.NCO or CO

  • QUEENS YORK RANGERS 2799!

  • joining 449 Squadron Lanark tomorrow

  • 317 Failsworth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm 1216 Eastleigh :D

  • You could always do it in the shower so it shrinks to your head size

  • @ZagrothTreafyr To each their own but you shouldn't get the leather band wet as sometimes it will shrink a little too much

  • Very helpful video and nice to be told someone as lovely as yourself :D Thanks alot.

    Jim :)

  • @jimmyzgames You're welcome for the video thank you, I'm glad you liked it :)

  • @embily07890 No Worries :D

  • @DropKickinUrNan9 You're very welcome :)

  • in from falkirk squadron 470 just thought id join in xx lol

  • I'm from coningsby 17 squadron 2nd class cadet

  • oh im from accrington squadron 1035

  • wat squadron you from

  • @kitfisto229 367, South Sheffield

  • Apparently, as the inner-linning is a part of the beret and the beret signifies service to the queen you are defacing the queen by removing it, however lots of people do it anyway and it's a kind of infamous practice to get a sleek looking lid :)

  • Someone mentioned about the technique, it's actually the traditional way all of the British Forces are taught to shape a beret

    2 tips

1)Get hold of a 'small crown beret' (google it) less material to shape and looks neater.

2)Remove the inner lining, this makes it much easier to shape. Just trim it out, don't unpick the stitching though as the leather band will come off ;)

  • @ravcuk Hey thanks for the tips! Unfortunately we can only wear the berets we get issued and there's some debate about whether or not we're allowed to remove the lining. Our WO will rip the lining out of as many berets as he can whereas our CO tells us to leave it in. I definately would have taken mine out if I thought I could get away with it as it is a lot easier to mould without

  • @ravcuk you ok mate speaking of not removing the stichingmy beret needed moulding agian beacuse i thought it look like it was going out off shape so i took the liner out and bang the leather band fell off so just had to put it in the bin lol

  • Hot cadet...wow , can i have your number :)

  • i never knew you did this cant you just put it on your a head and pull the side down

  • :O you what.. what is that berry.. i have never ever seen it done like that haha,, did you make that style? technically ours should be folded like the RAF's but you'll find it shaped different in every region.. personally i sewed mine :)

  • a hot cadet? THIS VIDEO IS FAKE D:

  • @Mattc23q It's definately not fake...:P

  • However nice video!

  • Royal Marine Cadets go on Landing Crafts, Ships, Helicopters, Millitary Vehicles, 5 Nights in the field, CTR's, Stalks, Ambushes, Troop Vs Troop, And thats only the start of it!

  • I found that (I don't know how) mess tins work well to leave your beret on to dry.

  • i'm not an air cadet but this still helps, thanks

  • How often do the air cadets get to fly? i.e gliders

  • @canad1anbadass There's normally one flying slot a month and one gliding slot. to get picked for these it depends on how regularly you turn up and contribute to parade nights and also how many extra activities like fund-raising etc you do. Basically the more you give to cadets, the more you'll get :)

  • @canad1anbadass Not sure Im in the army cadets and seriously i spoke to my friend in the air cadets! We have flown more times than he has and he joined before me!

  • @canad1anbadass i fly every weekend.. spose thats because im the pilot :P

  • im an army cadet and this is a brilliant tutorial thanks

  • Thank you so so much! I joined the ATC about a month and a half ago and we just got your uniform and I wanted to be sure I got this right. A lot of your videos have helped me as well, thank you so much for making them! :D

  • @DinoTamerMeep You're very welcome, I'm really glad they helped. :) They're mainly aimed at Newbies (sprogs) as I know it can be tricky getting the hang of it when you first get your uniform.

  • @embily07890 The Sgt. calls newbies spastics here, never heard 'sprogs' before.

  • @BanalBoxberry :O He's allowed to say spastics!?! We just use sprogs/sproggies/sproglets, I love it

  • This video is bringing back nightmares of being in the ATC. Why I stayed for so long, I'll never know...

  • I liked it 'cos she was fit.

  • @davethy65 Erm, thanks?

  • 2317 ARTILLERY CADETS! Wooh! And also, all cadets are equal. Whether you're a pigeon, a guppy, or a congo/groundhog. We're like, apples, oranges, and bananas. All are great fruits(not fruit as in gay), but some.. No, most prefer the taste of one fruit than another. Yeah, it doesn't matter what we do, we'll keep on fighting over which division is better, it's the cadet nature. So go ahead and keep on arguing about which side is better, but I gotta say, thanks for the tips on the beret forming.

  • @wouzerz Thank you. Don't worry, it's just friendly banter between different squadrons and cadets, I have a lot of respect for ANYONE who joins a military organisation :)

  • Mi ewon't crease over the badge, is this a problem?

  • I'm gonna form my beret for the Canadian Army like this.

  • Thanks. this was really helpful.

@TheMastabenjamin air cadets you use less weapons but you get to FLY!!!

  • Just kinda perusing here after watching that excellent bulling video. Guys, really. I'm a Canadian Army regular and although the branches have always been rivals, we're all on the same side. Have respect for your comrades! The Navy ships the Army overseas, the Air Force provides that immediate support for operation ranging from close air support missions to casualty evac, and the Army makes sure both have a port or airfield to use. A team divided is not a team at all.

  • @Derpistanian Don't worry, I'm pretty sure it's just friendly banter between air and army cadets :)

  • Stop fighting! Air cadets are better :p Anyway, great vid, very useful :D

  • lol how is army cadets jst about running about? we use more weapons than you hahahaha :P

  • Cheers for the info.

  • 1838 Elm park !!!!!!

  • Whoo go the air cadets.

    Nobody join the army cadets.

    Eveeer.

  • Thanks this is reallyy helpfull x

    Im in 267 sqn ;)

  • this helped so much i didnt have a clue! thank you haha! from 1482 sqn brentwood :)

  • Greetings from 1070 diss squadron!

  • how do the barrette take to dry?

  • I'm in army cadets and in the rifles it's like they made my beret out of metal I did it like 10 times and it won't fold

  • dont use a hairdryer on it

  • im not trying to start anything but dont ever squeeze your beret when its wet!!!!you can wrinkle it and screw it up.just put it in between a towel and use your hands to press out the water.then you put it over your head and shape it.

  • 1331 Sqn #FTW :P

  • Sweet, thanks. And by the way, RAF is WAY better than Army... Just sayin'...

  • i love the air cadets i go every tuseday 2004 squad

  • good thanks for the tutorial that will help a lot for my ccf beret

  • wow your beautiful! and nice tip for the beret, its my first time to receive a Military Beret.

  • can u tell me what the ATC oath is???

  • No offence to no one, I have a great amount of respect for all of you people serving in the airforce and the army, you do a very important job and serve your function very well... BUT the only beret that matters IRL is the green beret, the one you have to go trough hell to get, the one worn by THE ROYAL MARINES... who ware it all the time to show that they're the only ones worhty of always wearing the beret and if you are in the military you'll know that too... best regards from a swedish MARINE

  • @skater9303 Rifles get green beret too. And what about para's??? :)

  • @36Chewits that's right, but they ware the wood green, and the Royal Marines ware the commando green... all the respect to both rifles and paras, but they can't match the quality of soldier that one get in a royal marine, regarding the assault infantry function! ofc. there is functions that i.e make Para-training more challenging mentally but still, at least in sweden, both marines and paras ware the beret with pride ! but the only ones who earned, and get, to get burried with it is the marines

  • @skater9303 i see what you mean... but you have to remember you cant have a fighting force without the people behind the scens like RAC drivers and supplyers... cant have marines without them :L and as for marines being able to wear there beret with pride... when i get my rifles green beret and badge cap iussued i can say i will wear it with pride :)

  • @36Chewits that's my point, everyone is needed in a fighting force ! :D BUT here in Sweden we place a lot of affection in our berets, and since everyone gets one after basic training with their unit color + badge, I sometimes find it just a bit hard when some had a harder time earning their beret (don't get me wrong, you should be proud over your beret, it's a great accomplishment) beeing though of equally as if everyone done the same to earn their beret :)

  • @36Chewits para's = maroon son, well thats inaccurate ... all thoose under 16th Air Assault and thoose that have done P-Company get the maroon beret... this can include RAF Regt Gunners :)

  • @linkinpark4eva2k7 yea i know paras are red/maroon... lol i typed out the previous comment wrong and cba to explain what i ment :L

  • WOOH THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • @297324505 no im a sea cadet

  • im in the territorial army and need to shape my beret, is this the same method for ta berets?

  • Cheers it helped alot! even though army cadets are better (joke i come from an raf fam and most air cadets i have met are cool)

    no hard feelings

but 1btn b coy the rifles acf all the way

  • what rank are you?

  • @shilaandnadia She was a Sergeant :p

  • Thank you so much I ownly just got my greens and had know idea on how to mould my berret. I didnt even know you had to mould it. Thanks to you it looks perfect :)

  • @miky261 the cadets r one big happy family, scc, atc, mcc, acc, and embily, im joining tomorrow, are the air cadet berrets the same as the sea cadet berrets?

  • great video hope it works

  • not gonna lie i have beent in the atc for over a year and my beret is crap< what do you suggest i keep the beret on till it dries, except from my head :P

  • What SQN Are you in ?

  • @297324505 thats for full uniform for 4's all cadets wear berrets

  • @297324505 im in air cadets i wear a beret, i havent et seen a air cadet who has been issued all of their uniform

  • 2117 Kenfig Hill, I had my beret shaped perfectly before it was ran over by a car but then I did the same technique as you and it's back the way it was, and with a messed up beret badge lol

  • army cadets just run about air cadets fly which is more fun?

  • @Bongojitty army cadets get to play capture the flag, on an island, at night, with coyotes, while avoiding hunters and using guerrila tactics, and we get to skydive like para troopers, air cadets fly, which is more fun? Don't judge us by our cover, we get the action, you get the support.

  • Thanks. This really helped me!! (: Now im ready for Army cadets.!! :D

  • army cadets are puddle jumpers the atc all the way :D

  • 2248 sqn are the best

  • @miky261 But you are in the Army cadets, so how do you know that's all we do?

  • @miky261 1 iv been here 4 months and iv been shooting flying twice and we do field craft alot and we arnt scummy rapists. :)

  • @miky261 shut up! you know nothing about the ATC! GOON! your meant to be "army" which means you should be able too shoot, but yet every year we kick your ass at bisley!

  • @miky261 we do everthing you do and more... shooting, flying, gliding, first aid, leadership etc... the list goes on and on, and we have respect, whilst you sort of don't :P

  • @miky261 Yea, but at the ATC we do more Shooting then you, More drill, MORE, Field craft, More first aid, and with that MORE fun, oh and to top that off we do more stuff then the Army cadets that the army cadets specialize in, oh and to just add we do Parachuteing, Gliding, and Flying aswell.

  • @miky261 then how come air cadets is the most popular in most of canada

  • @miky261 there isnt much of a difference between army and air and i always thought air cadets wore wedges

  • Comment removed

  • @miky261 Sorry thats kinda bull my SQN does field craft 3 times a month so i think you will find that the my SQN does more field craft than alot of the army cadets and ill think you will also find that the the air cadets got the l98a2 rifles before the army cadets and also the reason we do more drill is to improve dicipline and to encourage teamwork last time I checked these were vital parts of field craft so

  • @miky261 army cadet uniform is HORRIBLE. You best-wear is basiclly combats. It looks so scruffy.

  • @ElliottPowerrr OH NO WE LOOK SCRUFFY. And the funny thing is the actual british army wear combats all the time.

  • safe to say your beret is pathetic, in no way is that how a beret should look atall!

best way to shape a beret is to cut the lining out, dunk it in warm water, ring it out, and shape it PROPERLY!

  • Thanks it really helped xx Ur actually really pretty xx What squadron u in? And wat rank? x

  • @OliIzzy I'm glad it helped and thanks for saying so. I'm 367 South Sheffield Squadron and I was a sergeant :)

  • @embily07890 Sweet, i'm 438 (Thanet) and I'm Cadet going to Corporal

  • not a bad way, but i thought you are supposed to leave it on your head for at least 5 hours to get the best shape possible as i am in the ATC aswell.

  • @TAZprankPRODUCTIONS To get the best possible result yes, this is just a quick and easy way for beginners and I could never be bothered to wear it for that long anyway.

  • *phew* Thanks for this! Hopefully, sergeant hardick wont bloody kill me :D

  • @iamoneguyz Hope it helped :P

  • @embily07890 That it did, thank you very much. hope you dont mind me asking your squadren number? im 155 Madinenhead =)

  • @iamoneguyz Absolutly not, loads of people have asked that, I'm 367 South Sheffield sqn.

  • @embily07890 Okay- i'll try and remember that. You got any thing comming up (like Whitewarthham?) that i might?

  • @embily07890 2394 east cleveland sqn :P

  • @embily07890 well im 1838 hornchurch

  • Thank you very much xD Hopefully my flight sergent won't scream at me again tonight :) Also, just out of interest, what squadron are you in?

  • @HeatSeekingMissiles I hope it helps, just bear in mind that you may have to mould it a good few times before it actually improves. 367 South Sheffield, what's yours?

  • thats pretty terrible to to honest. you look like a french chef! then again your only an air cadet.

  • @disesed be*, you're*

  • To make it easier to mold, shave it(you know like you would shave you're face) til it's half the thikness it used to be(remember to soake it first, dry then shave).

Don't shave all in one turn shave it multiple times! This is what we do in Norway, makes it easyer to mold:) And I would recomend shrinking it, cause that'll allow you to make it a perfect fit!

Hope this was helpfull to someone :)

  • keep storking it lol that what she said

  • thanks a lot that really helped, the information i got from my section was rubbish

  • Acualy i dnt think u done polishig parade shoes

  • Is there any things i should know about first class

  • Thank u for ur help im in squadran 196 n i need sum help once again thanks

  • @thesargo You're welcome, glad you liked them. What help do you need?

  • I can't wait to join air cadets :)

  • @1MegaRetard Talk to your stalls manager at your squadron, they'll tell you whether to leave it in or out. I got told to take my lining and string out. Fits alot better.

  • I have a question..I got a new beret (since i've just joined the air cadets)and it has a string in the leather band , what shall i do with it take it out oe leave it in?

  • @1MegaRetard You need to tie it so it fits snugly around your head shape, make sure it isn't too tight though. I'd recommend doing this after you've moulded the beret for the first time. If there's alot of excess string after you've tied it you can trim this with scissors and then tuck the frayed ends into the leather band with a pencil. Hope this helps x

  • @embily07890 it helped alot ,, thank you (: x

  • @1MegaRetard in my cadets you tighten it so it fits nicely around ur head do like 5 knots so it wont come undone and then cut the lace/string off down to the knot. Then twist the knot around so its inside the leather band thing so all you can see is like there is a small slit/cut at the back of ur beret so u would just be able to see lace going along with no knots or anything.

If ur beret is a perfect fit some people just pull all the lace out but this might become too big for ur head!

  • Nice video lesson. Thank you...:-)

  • @alanthomas123 Very welcome, hope it helped.

  • Tis' not the best beret I ever seen to be honest.

  • @TehNoobWhoPlaysHalo Well, at least it's not the worst

  • @embily07890 Your not wrong there :)

  • Right technique , but not the way I'D do it , I'd wet it , then put it on head , but the whole of my left hand behind the beret badge for a nice indent , and with my right pull it over covering the badge a tiny bit ? , the bowl is just abit silly . Just simply leave it on . Ok video , could be better.

  • I've liked it but there's a faster, better and more effective way to shape it.

  • thanks :) very helpful

  • it should be two finger distance from your eyebrow.

  • Im an army cadet and i found this vid really helpful - we have had lessons like this but the tip about the crease is real handy and the hot cold thing.

I have been told that you should take out the lining it helps shape it better

    Thanks

  • @TwaddleFlip Glad you liked it. :) You can take the lining out but it doesn't make much difference, for us they were quite fussy about you taking it out as it looks better with a lining, also means your head is against the lining and not the wool.

  • Thanks emily I'm guessing that's your name. When I mould me beret should I take that see through plastic but our or leave it in

  • @joshbo6 Yes, that's me :P Do you mean the big piece in the centre of the beret? It depends on preference, my warrant officer ripped mine out because it definately makes moulding and shaping alot harder, however you may want to double check with your staff, some of them can be a bit funny about it.

  • There's a piece of cardboard in my beret. When i soak it will it distroy the cardboard??

  • @SurvivalPilot17 Yes, i'd imagine so...Where is the cardboard, it shouldn't be there :S Did you get any specific instructions for moulding the beret when you got it or are you sure it's definately cardboard? Most have a thin circle of plastic at the front to support the badge but i've never heard of one having cardboard
