Maybe I have misunderstood you, if so please excuse my stupidity but my unerstanding you are actually going to keep a Green Finch in a cage? If that is the case, then please don't, if you want to see birds at their finest look at them in nature, birds have not evolved to exist in cages.
Buy yourself some binoculars and a bird book and off you go, an interest for life with no harm to the birds.
Ive purchased a male about a week ago, and today heard it sang like a canary. However me bird isnt as beautifully coloured like the one shown on here, maybe me bird is still a bit young.... i hope.
Anyways, he's very active and likes to jump around in the cage alot. I just need to get a bigger cage so he can fly around more soon.

in our country Malta we cant catch these birds anymore because of goverment and eu and outher countreis in eu can this is ridiculious !!!

you can also let him out of the cage, he will return for food.
