It's actually part of culture too so you can't say it needs to "stay culture" because even if it would become some kind of religion or way of living it would still be culture...just a pretty strong one.
Hip Hop is an open-for-all international culture, originated from Bronx. theese 9 elements are our ways of expressing ourselves and for some even a profession to get food on the table. And yes: Hip means to know, and Hop means to know. Africa Bambaata & Zulu Nation used these two african terms to name the culture.
Just like every country has it's own culture and culture, (example American culture, American people) we have no country, we have our culture to unify us, and we are called Hip Hoppas.
