Horses who are injured BEFORE the rodeo begins are illegal to use in rodeo. That horse injured HERSELF in the chute. This is not the fault of the cowboys or the rodeo. Rodeos result in death & injury to animals, they also serve as entertainment & money spinners. Its up to the public to decide if the collateral damage to animals is an acceptable trade off 4 entertainment. U will know the answer by the longevity of rodeos.
People who want to say that rodeo is harmful and state that everyone who participates in the sport treats animals badly should really think before they post something that offends a lot of people. I am a barrel racer and my horse gets treated amazing and is properly groomed and fed everyday so maybe you should re-think some of your comments. Just saying.

@allurea1tinybites We appreciate your posts in support of stopping animal abuse. Just to clarify, straps do not go around the testicles. They're tightened around the sensitive flank area, although on bulls and geldings, that is right in front of the sheath and it does irritate them.
This is so sad :( I hate this kind of rodeo. Reining, pole bending, barrel racing are different, the horses actually get taken care of, loved, and trained (properly) But this is just horrifying

not all rodeos are like that. i work for salinas california rodeo and all of our horses and animals are treated with the up most care we can provide. i am also a part of high school rodeo and we deffinetly do not show the animals if they are hurt.

There is one of the many evidences that these horses hate their job. They don't enhoy rodeo. Rodeos are cruel no matter what. It breaks my heart to see how scared this beautiful horse is. She is hurt and yet they still keep going. They care more about entertainment and money than theur horses.
Looked like the poor mare bashed her mouth in one of her down swings. Could have caused more serious injury to her legs by trying to jump out. Very obviously a horse who does not enjoy her job. It's really too bad that the number of careless people seem to outnumber the people with commen sense and care.

2 years back, my friends took me to a rodeo, and I saw something exactly like this. .I couldn't bare to stand it, so after it was over, I went straight to the horses care takers, and offered to buy him. They thought I was crazy for wanting a rodeo horse, butwhere we are now, is insane. You would think I bought a childrens pony, instead of an insane rodeo horse.

Ive been to some rodeos that are cruel as can be but then ive been to some other rodeos that dont have things like bronco riding and calf roping alot of people wouldn't even call it a rodeo but thats what they called it and it was entertaining more then the ones were the poor animals were being hurt. I ride and that is very bad for a horse to be bleeding out of the mouth like that espically without a bit(which is bad anyway) but that means the horse got injured on something

@dirtbiXe In the states were rodeos operate, rodeo/livestock are specifically exempted from animal cruelty laws,making animal abuse legal in the rodeo arenas in those states.
All rodeo is not bad my best friend rodeos and she loves her horses very much. As long as those running the rodeo are responsible it can be fun for both man and animal. Don't talk about rodeos as a whole because I have friends who rodeo and they don't treat their horses this way. This is not an isolated incident but not all rodeos are bad and so don't judge until you've seen every rodeo in the country including the little no name ones out in the country.

Horses who are injured BEFORE the rodeo begins are illegal to use in rodeo. That horse injured HERSELF in the chute. This is not the fault of the cowboys or the rodeo. not all rodeos are like that. i work for salinas california rodeo and all of our horses and animals are treated with the up most care we can provide. i am also a part of high school rodeo and we deffinetly do not show the animals if they are hurt.

Ive been to some rodeos that are cruel as can be but then ive been to some other rodeos that dont have things like bronco riding and calf roping alot of people wouldn't even call it a rodeo but thats what they called it and it was entertaining more then the ones were the poor animals were being hurt. Check out the pages calling for the reopening of horse slaughter plants in the US. You'll find the PRCA, NHSRA, major rodeo stock contractors and contestants, AQHA, etc.

There's nothing false about animal injuries in rodeo. The only falsehoods are what spew out of rodeo supporters' mouths about how much they 'care' about the animals. Take your defense of animal cruelty elsewhere.

Don't talk about rodeos as a whole because I have friends who rodeo and they don't treat their horses this way. This is not an isolated incident but not all rodeos are bad and so don't judge until you've seen every rodeo in the country including the little no name ones out in the country.

@DollarJumper We document abuse at rodeo, we call it rodeo animal abuse. Because that's what it is. If you don't like to hear that truth, do something about the 'bad' rodeos instead of complaining to the ones who expose it.

@SHARKonlineorg I'm all for exposing abuse, but it the video he says all rodeos are bad... that's not true. I love horses and want this to stop. They are magnificent animals, and do not deserve it. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying. This is a public forum. But my point is abuse needs to stop, but not all rodeos are bad. there are bad people who do this to animals and they need to be stopped.

I hate rodeos! People say, oh the horses are looked after, they have to be, to be able to buck well! Uhmm.. No they dont! A terrified underweight horse will buck just as well as a fat and happy horse thats been fed by humans... Rodeos are sick. Shut them all down!!

Holy wow you rope suckers have no idea. I make a living riding bulls and broncs and that horse was just getting anxious in chute n hit her mouth no one hurt her. Oh and for your information most bucking horses and bulls actually like their jobs they get treated very well.

@Inoryuki You can certainly try. This was the Flying U rodeo company owned by Cotton Rosser, a well-known abusive PRCA stock contractor. Good Luck trying to help some of the animals suffering in his 'care'. Let us know what happens.
