Making it to where the credit cards don't get paid is not going to change reality. There is only so much food and other living materials out there backed by savings. If savings is allowed to be overconsumed through gov't programs, then the inevitable collapse will be even harder.
Btw, that Harvard professor is a socialist; buyer beware.
@caganb Have fun getting a car loan, rent, or anything that needs a credit check. Just use credit responsibly instead of spreading BS like don't get credit.
Its so ridiculous that people don't realize that credit and money in this country are totally opposed to free market economics. They don't talk about the origin of credit & money- its all a scam. The solution isn't bankruptcy. The solution is free-market economics. Screw the governmnet, its controlled by these banker-gangsters. Just don't pay by their rules, noone can force you! I'll explain: If you have unsecured debt (credit cards), all you have to pay back is what you borrowed...
...If you have unsecured debt (credit cards), all you morally have to pay back is what you borrowed and interest no more than 10%, but make constant payment amounts. After that, stop paying, just walk away! Screw them, they just printed money that they didn't earn, lent it at interest and made a huge profit. They should be satisfied with getting away with that! As long as you made constant payment amounts and paid off what you borrowed plus reasonable interest, you completed yu r moral duty!
If you have secured debt (mortgage, etc), then you have exchanged your home as consideration for the banks money. But it didn't cost the bank any money to give you a mortgage- no consideration on their part- fraud on their part! If you're upside down and/or you have a matured ARM that you can't keep up with then ethically, you don't have to pay, walk away and rent an apartment. Screw the bank, it's their fault they committed stupidity, not yours. Don't feed the beast!
Don't feed the beast! Don't vote for any politician that votes for bailouts. No financial company is too big to fail- its a lie! You're stupid if you believe it! Be very angry and very afraid of anyone who wants to take your money by force like that! Default and do not comply with fascism!
Seems ridiculous to talk about reforms regarding credit cards when the very existence of those things is one huge scam. It's not real credit in the first place. There isn't enough money in the world to issue 5 or 10 cards to every man, woman, and dog on in the country, yet they do it. They can because it's part of the absurd banking privilege to issue money (at interest!) which doesn't exist and is backed by nothing.
They never talk about the origin of this so-called credit, do they?
I love David B! He is great. I had to go bankrupt due to credit cards (no luxury spending - paying bills when unemployed), and now I get offers ALL the time for more cards. I tear them up too - NEVER again! I pray for everyone caught in a credit crunch. It is a terrible place to be.
The big credit card companies had a friend in the White House. George W. Bush told the Comptroller of the Currency to stop regulating the credit card industry. After the industry incurred huge losses in the stock market, it started to compensate for revenue losses by increasing pressure on card holders with higher interest rates and fees.
Maybe, we should not consume so much, payed by credit. I remember times where we first had to work, save, and consume only any surplus that may have left. What went wrong? Which policies stimulated us spending more than we earn? Who put in place these policies?
That lady talking about making a new gov't agency is way off base. She is trying to solve a problem with a solution that will compound it. What would really happen if a new credit agency were formed? It would be that much easier for people to build debt. What we need in this country is to stop living on debt and to start saving. Having the gov't encourage debt spending is reckless. I mean come on, they already set a horrible example.
