@LAXdart hey if you can go to the recruiters office grab a booklet for the parents. That was helpful with my mom. I told my mom "i am able to fight, there are many guys/girls out there that want to fight and aren't able to its something that i want to do and 100% sure that i want to do it." She didnt seem happy for a few days but after she read the little book she knew there was no changing my mind. After awhile she became more excited that i was leaving than i was. Just have a sit down talk.

@JustAnotherYtuber hey man yeah it's one Regiment consisting of three battalions, 1/75, 2/75, and 3/75. not to be confused with the Army Ranger School which gives out the Ranger tab that any male in the Army can attend. 75th is under SOCOM and basically does high risk raids. airfield seizure is old school but they can do that too.

I thought 101st abn meant they have more than 101 abn divisions. Same with the 82nd.

@JustAnotherYtuber where you from man? haha and no it's just a designator. 101st Airborne don't even jump anymore, they're air assault now. you can look at Army units like 3rdID, 25thID, 173rd, 82nd, 101st and basically pay no heed it's all random historical designators. Marines make a lil more sense, it's all numerically ordered with I think 5 batts per regiment.

Our military units are usually simple, just 2 divisions, with a certain number of brigades in each.

The only thing is understanding the battalions in each brigade. For example, "12/16 Hunter River Lancers", hahah what the fuck could that possibly mean? Wtf is a lancer? and I've never even heard of Hunter river and I live in Australia.

as a former 4/10mtn 4BCT. oef 10-11 and infantry/airborne qualified. i can say that 90% of all infantryman want to be ranger regiment. a few get option 40 but most will quit because they want to go home on leave or go to a regular unit. only about 10-15 out of the entire company will be able to volunteer for airborne/rasp during OSUT (at least for my company it was) and out of those 10-15 probley 1 or 2 will stick with it. its no joke.
