  • hey its coach calhoun from grease

  • It seems like Big Bird did a great job of helping Sid Caesar with The Alphabet, don't you think?

  • somehow i don't think this man invented letters

  • big bird u rok

  • "But I threw it away because there was no PLPLTTP in any word in the dictionnary..."

How was it that he INVENTED all the letters of the alphabet if a dictionnary had already been written? Not trying to spoil the fun in this segment....just saying. I still love it!

  • this guy reminds me of that duck from disney, you know the one that does the disney sing alongs

  • that's cute~

  • what a great show this is and what an excellent actor Sid Ceasar prob was.

I just heard of the guy.

  • Hmm, I wonder what the letter "thbpbtd" would look like, L.O.L.!

  • thx for uploading, Sid Caesar's my favorite comedian

  • LMAO "....except the letter 'PLTPLT', and there is no 'PLTPLT', so what's the sense?" Hahahahaha I used to die laughing at this one when I was little.

  • everybody loves that big bird x3

  • He reminds me of Disney's Prof. Ludwig Von Drake,

Hat, accent, quatum mechanics, ego. does anyone know which character came first?

  • he looks scary!

  • you guys too old for that is for pre-school kids

  • oh please...we like reminiscing=P

  • That's amazing!

But I must say, the 1 second clip of that antelope at the end was really random...

  • LIKE OMG!!

  • i love that big bird ;D

  • What DVD is this from??? Tell me IMMEDIATELY! I'm going out to buy it TODAY!!! Please respond ASAP.

  • from what year is this?

  • who's vic borge?

  • Victor Borge was a Danish pianist/comedian, who had an accent that sounded somewhat similar to the one Sid Caesar is doing in this skit. There are plenty of Victor Borge videos on YouTube, some of which even involve the Muppets.

  • The letter "pthbbbt"! I can't hear that without cracking up.

  • yeah this is Sid Ceasar at his best

  • Lol mixed up with quantum mechanics.

The wee children'll be like "Whats a quantum maaakaaaanic?"

  • lol invented the alphabet but forgot it

  • great actor.. on the spot actor.

  • whats w/ the left handed handshake @ the end.

  • The guy inside Big Bird's suit uses his right arm/hand to work the mouth - so he only has his left one in the puppet's "arm" - at least that's what I believe is going on there.

  • Did you know that there was a section of Sardi's restaurant specially reserved for Sid Caesar? It was known as the Caesarean section.

  • That's funny true or not--but it SHOULD be true! Caeser has been known to leave you laughing in pain!

  • lol O rocked

  • Haha the letter 'pppt'!!

    "O" lol.

He's like 'every letter but pppt!'!!

  • "Sesame Street" used to be all about Big Bird, and now it's all about Elmo.

  • Yeah...Elmo isn't a bad guy in himself; the bad thing was CTW/Sesame Workshop's decision to give Elmo even more exposure than Big Bird used to get. (If Jim Henson hadn't died seventeen years ago, he'd probably be furious at the idea of ANY one character having his own fifteen-minute spot in every episode!)

  • You hit the nail right on the head. It's not fair the way so many people flat out detest Elmo, because there hasn't been a single character in the history of the show good enough to hog the spotlight. It's about everyone, and no one is the best. If Jim had been alive to hear all these pointless objections to the real Sesame Street, he'd probably say, "either it stays as it is, or it goes off the air."

  • Well, Henson wouldn't have had any say in that regard, since it wasn't his show and he wasn't in control of it. But I do think that if he was still alive, the character of the modern show would be different--Henson's presence would probably have kept things from getting as relatively mild-mannered and tame as they've gotten in recent years--I think he would have found it frustrating to work with the newer tone. Wherever possible he would have maintained his brand of humor. Just my guess, though.

  • You're right, Marbles. In fact I read an interview with Frank Oz in recent months where he called the current Sesame Street "sh--t"... now I thought that was pretty blunt, but honest. He said when he worked with Henson the muppets were edgy and interesting, and today all of that is pretty much gone from children's television. I wish I could find that article again. It was very much what you just said.

  • Edgy, huh? Hmm... uh, what does that mean?

  • Oh, never mind. I found it.

  • Actually it was supposed to be about Bert and Ernie......

  • yer lol "O"

  • I like the way Big Bird said O.

  • Dadogster, what are you talking about? Sid is still very much with us...

Even though, I think I liked this better when VICTOR BORGE did it! ;-)

  • Sid will be missed alot.

  • Hooray for letters based on onomatopoeia!

  • That sketch cracked me up too, between the "letter [Bronx cheer]" and the idea of someone who knew nuclear physics but not the alphabet. Four stars from me!

  • This is awesome. Hooray for Sid Caesar! What year is this from?

  • this sounds improvised... at least to a certain extent... so funny! "Theres more?!"

  • YAY Sid Caesar! I love this skit.

  • This was great! Sid Caesar on Sesame Street is a hoot! :-)

  • This one still cracks me up after 20 years, especially whenever he mentions the letter *pbbbb*.

  • Thank you for posting this!!! Would love to see more Classic Sesame :)
