You're right, man! But why have the Germans taken on that robot mentality? They're proud of their funcionality. They can't be proud of their history, can they? So success is a mere substitute in a way. Maybe they don't have children because they don't want to tell them that they belong to a people of murderers? Germany used to have strong Working unions, which fought for things suchs as the "35 hour working week". But now Germany nowaday is more and more like America. Working alot more. Even having more than one job. And now tell me what your point was? I dont see it. The Anglo American way is to work all day, Not the German Way. The German Way is to do good work. Not to work all day.
Gave you an up vote, because I like your very well reflected talk. I am a german, living in germany, and I can relate to what you say. Maybe on itself, it would not really stand. But it's good to use as a comparison, when you want to point out the differences between living in various countries.
I'm german and I lived here all my life. This guy is 100% right. Germany is a good place to live if you're thinking rational and if you want to have your life planned out in detail with no risks...but I'm tellin you if you're a openminded, spontanious, extrovert person the bureaucracy and narrowmindedness here will get you depressed!
@TheSaba291 Two stereotypes in one sentence. First off not every German looks like a hard rocker (where the hell did you get this information from?!?!) and secondly the language is NOT aggressive in general. I heard about this stereotype so many times and it starts to piss me off, no offense. EVERY language sounds aggressive when you scream it just to get this straight.
@sesselfurzer2000 It is just stereotype, of coarse... What about other stereotypes like Germans are hard workers and punctual? and German typically blond?
@TheSaba291 Germans do work hard for the self-set goals that's true but because of our welfare system there are some (not many) people who just live off the money they get from welfare (on purpose). And it is true that Germans are punctual not necessarily on family celebrations but you MUST be punctual at work otherwise you might be given the gate if you're late too often.
@TheSaba291 Do you think about the way that Rammstein or Hitler expressed the german language, or about the way that germans talk to each other every day?
@MadocDoyu I dont know, how do you Germans speak to each other, it seems to me when you angry you speak like Adolf, and most of the time like rammstein... I know its stupid but mostly everyone speak english, so have no idea how germans talk
I gotta puke if I see this fuckin bavarian hat again.. Im sick of it. I don't want that fat, stinky beer drinking bavarians representing our country.. they are a fucking minority..
Germans have always been leaders ever since the Teutonic Knights, if not earlier. It's just that they had a little trouble fitting into the Western economy at the beginning of the 20th century, which was Britain's fault. All that is over now, and we should look to the Germans for guidance into the 21st century.
Sorry to say it mate, but your "downsides" are kind of subjective, aren't they? Also I think your opinion is a bit one dimensional. Go to Blackpool and taste the "cultural richness" there. I also don't agree with you on the "drone workers". If you are in Germany, you probably know what Feierabend means. Try to call somebody in in their free time or during holidays. Maybe it is the absolutism that we are not used to, but our fumbling "looseness" is also not the answer to everything, now is it?
I am not German, and I am supposed to hate them because they were directly related to me historically, in a bad way, but I love German almost more than my own country!
yeah thats probably true. the germans are "working machines" "robots" . i am a german myself .and yes: every hour i dont work i feel like: "i done something wrong i am a sinner ,i am mad,i have do do my duty" .i dont know what it is.its maybe the whole culture. the only time you can relax is when all work is done properly. UNTIL the next day ! nice living isnt it? :-)
first, this guy is puttin' me to sleep, and second, he's wrong, wrong, wrong. I've been living in Berlin, where we don't EVER celebrate carnival, and this big ol' field of cars was the result of the 'old car rebate and turn in' that the us did as well, but the difference is that All of these cars were recycled. That takes awhile to do right.
A) Germans are too robot-like, always about work and responsibility, not about having fun.
B) Germans dont have enough children because that would mean responsibility and they much rather would have more stuff to play with and having fun by themselves instead of looking after the kids.
I have to say that these 2 points look rather like directly contradicting oneanother.... ;)
Sorry for the Germans, and please please pay attention to your country, then you can change it.
We Germans do not look for work and competition, we are the only competitors.
This time we have no racism, no war donate so much money to so many countries have paid our debts punctually and without gripe - let's finally living in peace.
Actually this video doesn't explain the success of Germany.Rather points to the difference between Germans and English environment .One thing (of many)is right what Germans do:when it comes to work you gotta do it maximally,100 percent and precisely. That makes your life better and builds economy and your country well. Not like for example Irish people who are not able to do 100 percent at work because they're always thinking about having fun or being in pub.So yes you gotta be a robot when work
@VanillaSnow23 Well, our "Stereotype" of East-Asians is: Very polite, very hard working people, honoring their family and traditions and are very social-orientated.
@Paulostar86 I would be the first one to forgive you it, but frankly, living in Germany only made me aware that Germans really give dont so much shit about what there grandpas did at all. However, I have to admit that probably less than 33% of Dutchies are aware of our murders in Indonesia.
@Paulostar86 But we have something to do with it if we want it or not. In school we get guilt-tripped in young ages. In basic school with the age of 9-10 we get shown pictures of dead Jews in the concentration camps. I know this sounds kinda melodramatic and the purpose is prevention. But it does kinda change you. I to be honest got tired of the weltschmerz. I can't stand hate anymore. But i didn't want to answer you back. I just say we deserve to have nothing to do with this! peace
@ExcaliburBC305 and dont even try to argue read THIS:Germany has been the economic locomotive of Europe since the 1950s. The rest of Europe depend on its strength. The limeys and frogs are still deeply in denial on this and prefer self delusion
@garryentropy I am German and live in the USA, I know what you mean. But Germans are fun they like to speak english, they like the english humor they are nice to hang out with once you get to know them.
has this guy even ever been to germany???? trains are allways too late in germany...you should really visit germany and not talking this robot bullshit
(3) Im now also living in Switzerland by my swiss girlfriend and there You can visit the german version of life + 40% ;) More work, trying to be better, making business, 50% more "ordentlich"...for me sometimes exhausting. But mostly people are a bit less "loud" .. a little bit more polite. Sometimes Germans can be very "straight talking" ones.Disturbing sometimes.
Hope You will be allright. Wish You all the best. While watching I thought: Hes sad, very sad not to be in his homeland(music).True?
(2) I think it is also because of the high preassure ... making good (perfect) work all day.And You are right: Some germans are really sucking ("we are making everything better")...but hapily...there are others...hope You know some of these :) And yeah: an oiled machine with machine man (Charlie Chaplin quote ;) )? You cant live like this always. Specially not me :) I was in South England and yeah. it was real cool.Polite and nice people.Loved it.But in COlogne..its not always "ordentlich" :)
Interesting three videos...Mostly I have to agree. Sometimes it is a little bit exaggerated in the opinion...not everything is running like an oiled machine here : ) and some regions are better running (f. ex. bavaria) than other regions (Ruhrgebiet). And sometimes germans can have fun on work too :) not only while carnival...(ok...I live in Cologne...we have fun 365 days a year : ) ) But in comparison to other countries I can understand You: Sometimes it is not really relaxed and amusing here.
intersting to see it the life in germany from an other perspective. I am german ... and i must say ... sadly, you are right. To have work and to work hard... is the absolute main thing in germany. People who have no work, get displaced to the edge of the society.
Wh is the muscioso sad? Becasue the speaker is one of the countless antigerman UK Nazis who hates countries that are a "therat" to UK´s ageold empire fantatism. Pure British envy. Schönen Tag noch, lol.
PS: I know there are many fine Brits but they are the silent majority (like in Germany)
My god are you anti-german. Go out of my country please. You dont know anything about germany and our history. You are not interested in it We germans are extremely unhappy because of people like you. No day passes where people aint talking about one-sided history lessons. Of course we do not want to reproduce, and fixating on work is a way to go out of depression. studies show all neighbours are more happy then we, why is that? hm? We are overpopulated too, because of the territory losses.
#2 I'm playing the guitar, spend time online and few years ago was a drummer in a few bands. we do know the importance of balance between work and leissure. just because things we do for fun don't match the others taste don't mean they're bad. and about children... right now we don't have the time to make them... working our asses of to safe greece, spain, italy, ireland... better said: the states with that better quality of life and all that big fun and so... 51% taxes ;-)
its pretty plain to say germans life only for work and duty. as i could say the british only eat fish&chips. ist's just one aspect. and since you don't always see us having fun doesen't we we don't have some. it's more like a food metaphore: if you got used to it, it starts to taste good. we organize in so called "vereinen" for fun, sports, sozial work, etc. and we have oure fun there. or having a beer after work with friends. -> #2
The "real" German does not obey a ruler, but a sense of duty. What is our responsibility? It is not the joy of life, not even the love. It merely is a duty. We HAVE to do this. We HAVE to do that. It is maybe a prussian duty. We are born out of ashes, we are born to serve. A british friend of mine once called me "pedantical Mr. Little shit". He is right. This duty of beeing pedantical is helpfull but it makes you crazy sometime because you do not find the the switcher in your mind to turn it off
spot on!!! u really summed up the feeling of a foreigner (i speak for myself) living in germany, "i cant complain too much, ive got a nice life, but i dont really minggle up..." there is more to life, dont forget about it!!
@InconvenientTruth4U who ever has lived in germany probably realized that foreigners hang out mostly with other foreigners from other nationalitites. you hardly see a group of friends where all are german except one, because its not so easy to mingle in that sense. but u can find groups of people where most are foreigners and 1 or 2 are germans. i think this reflects that is harder to mingle among germans than around most of the other people.
I like your clips. Some things are really true that you said about humanity. The coldness in this country eats me sometimes. Emotions run to deep here that people take them to the surface. the music is a bit depressiv thew. MrWixxer66 1 second ago
watch it now, Germany after Fukushima. The ONLY , THE ONLY Country in the World, who was speaking about the nucleartechnologie and how its safe and our reason and the reason for the world is, Its not safe!
Why we Germans the only who said: OK STOP NOW! Fuck off Nuclear Power?
Think about that, why we are THE ONLY Country who consideration that nuclear power isnt good for us and the world?
when u say we germans have no live we do like machines have no heart, we make fun only at carneval, and and and. and what is better? going too work, and after the work just going to a pub and drink beer or guiness like the people on island, is that better way , and more human to life?
Its what u talked, schafle schafle häusle baue. why we do that? just for our kids to make our kids a better and secure life. and thats goes only with hard work!
..education don't have a great chance of getting a job. In the UK on the other hand you can get a job easily even if you haven't got a lot of brain..if you are happy working for the national minimum wage - in Germany you almost need 12 A-Levels to get a job in a supermarket. It's very competitive in my eyes...
People will always complain about their own country. So you will find a lot of whining German people who tell you that you are all wrong :-) Living in Britain but having been brought up in Germany I can see the contrast. Yes, I agree that a lot of things function a lot better in Germany than anywhere else. But I wouldn't say that there are more jobs in Germany. At least not for the average Joe - you need very good qualifications and skills to get a job. Underqualified workers with a low .. tbc
Btw.-concerning rubbish-an English colleague came in one morning, completely vexed-he had seen some Winos (Beeros there), that had been throwing there empty beer cans into the wastebasket. He was impressed that even the "lowest of the lowest" as he said, adhered to something like that. And no, not all of our products are superior. But we take it as a point of pride to improve the stuff that is not good enough. You seem to live in Schwaben-the rest of the country is a bit relaxed. Thanks, Mike
And as you know, we do tend to succeed when we have set ourselves a goal. You might be inclined to see that the younger ones are more inclined to loosen up on some issues. But such distinctions are extremely hard to put into such a constraint medium. So overall, yes, you are right, but I would urge you to go to Cologne ...we have much more fun in the Rhineland. And, if you think we are strict-get to Zurich, that will set some new records for you ;-) But, thnaks for the review, we can improve now
Very thoughtful, very precise, some part flattering, some parts food for thought how to improve by disemproving ;-) ourselves. I like the "unaufgeregte" manner of Brits and Irishmen, their incredible resistance to stress and their indestructible politeness and fairness under adverse conditions. All in all, you are spot on,and I am glad for any Englishman, Australian and Irish folk that comes here to share our country. We might not have any form of humour yet, but we are working on it.
@notalkful shut the fuck up.. i'm from germany too and i dont like patriotism but germany is the strongest economic power.. and noone says that its sooooo good here, but if you look at the economy in general then you will get to that result. and before complaining about the situation in germany you might wanna check out living in another country for sometime..
@notalkful by the way "your country" is part of the EU, and i think these days we should stop talking about "my country, my country, my coutnry..." we should start to see europe as a whole to get strong TOGETHER..
@BlackMilk3000 So right. Oh, by the way, the British royalty have been German since, well, around Henry VIII. The language spoken at the British courts during Queen Victoria's reign was... German. Because both she and Albert were... German. Nasty during the Great War... Anyway, all their kids were... German, although renamed Windsor. And their spouses... So let's just stop it; your tribe isn't better than the other one. Drink a beer, have a kebab, a pie, a sausage and a laugh...
My children are in their late 20's now and when they come home and are talking about their childhood the best memories and laughs always come from their memory of things we did, never things they were bought. When they were small I felt guilty that I couldn't buy all the stuff I thought they would like so I tried to compensate by creating 'adventures' and doing 'stuff'. By accident I think I ended up doing the things they loved and time was the best gift of all...on both sides.
@Liftorangejuice And lots of plants and animals everywhere. Especially rabbits and crows, of course winter is coming so more crows and gulls will migrate into the city now :D
@Liftorangejuice Do not forget the incredible amount of clubs and drugs... ecxtasy pills for 1 euro each and so on... i mean those students from all over the world come because of fun ansnot to study... eh?
I do watch your videos quite often, I do not wish to be dis-respectful -but if Germany is so prosperous, and lots of jobs ! " You appear to not be in employment , and look too young to be retired, but haor ve a lot of free time on your hands.
So perhaps it is not so good ? perhaps you work only at night, as a cat burglar - (joking) unless it is a Euro-lottery situation. you must tell us your secret one day.
Folk do say " Germany may have lost the war , but they have won the peace "
@elltimooimac hehe the secret is called jobcenter: 365 euros per month + a rent for a flat up to 300 euros and your health insurance is paid for... bismark invented the healthinsurance for everyone, after that the germans invented loads of things to feel save.
We germans do not like uncertain futures. Even the national reservoi for wildlife was invented by germans (19th cent) because they where afraid all those Birdfeathers on fancy hats would kill the bird population (it is true!)
@TheReaktor5 And if you do not believe me... What did germany did after fukushima (an desaster on the other side of the world)? Exactly! Quiting nuclear power... i mean we hate to watch something in the face and we can not change it... I bet in 10 years germany will start a war against france and russia for still developing nuclearpower plants... This era will be known as the rise of the ecofascists
@garryentropy 2:15 Thats why I hate our carnival

Which nation on earth is using more solar power than any other nation?
Germany has a law that requires utilities to pay homeowners 2X the market rate for solar & wind energy they feed onto the grid.
The Feed In Tariff (FITs).
This has inspired 400,000 homeowners, farmers & tenants to start their own private power companies by installing solar.
More people now work in the solar industry than work in the auto industry.

The guy looks like Rammstein, typical German looks so hard rock, language is very aggressive, it scares me
TheSaba291 1 month ago
@TheSaba291 Two stereotypes in one sentence. First off not every German looks like a hard rocker (where the hell did you get this information from?!?!) and secondly the language is NOT aggressive in general. I heard about this stereotype so many times and it starts to piss me off, no offense. EVERY language sounds aggressive when you scream it just to get this straight.
sesselfurzer2000 1 month ago
@sesselfurzer2000 It is just stereotype, of coarse... What about other stereotypes like Germans are hard workers and punctual? and German typically blond?

@TheSaba291 Germans do work hard for the self-set goals that's true but because of our welfare system there are some (not many) people who just live off the money they get from welfare (on purpose). And it is true that Germans are punctual not necessarily on family celebrations but you MUST be punctual at work otherwise you might be given the gate if you're late too often.
sesselfurzer2000 1 month ago
@TheSaba291 Do you think about the way that Rammstein or Hitler expressed the german language, or about the way that germans talk to each other every day?

@MadocDoyu I dont know, how do you Germans speak to each other, it seems to me when you angry you speak like Adolf, and most of the time like rammstein... I know its stupid but mostly everyone speak english, so have no idea how germans talk

So, basically the two critizisms are:
A) Germans are too robot-like, always about work and responsibility, not about having fun.
B) Germans dont have enough children because that would mean responsibility and they much rather would have more stuff to play with and having fun by themselves instead of looking after the kids.
I have to say that these 2 points look rather like directly contradicting oneanother.... ;)
Cheers mate.

While watching I thought: Hes sad, very sad not to be in his homeland(music).True?
tausendstein 3 months ago
(2) I think it is also because of the high preassure ... making good (perfect) work all day.And You are right: Some germans are really sucking ("we are making everything better")...but hapily...there are others...hope You know some of these :) And yeah: an oiled machine with machine man (Charlie Chaplin quote ;) )? You cant live like this always. Specially not me :) I was in South England and yeah. it was real cool.Polite and nice people.Loved it.But in COlogne..its not always "ordentlich" :)
tausendstein 3 months ago
Interesting three videos...Mostly I have to agree. Sometimes it is a little bit exaggerated in the opinion...not everything is running like an oiled machine here : ) and some regions are better running (f. ex. bavaria) than other regions (Ruhrgebiet). And sometimes germans can have fun on work too :) not only while carnival...(ok...I live in Cologne...we have fun 365 days a year : ) ) But in comparison to other countries I can understand You: Sometimes it is not really relaxed and amusing here.
tausendstein 3 months ago
intersting to see it the life in germany from an other perspective. I am german ... and i must say ... sadly, you are right. To have work and to work hard... is the absolute main thing in germany. People who have no work, get displaced to the edge of the society.

You are not interested in it We germans are extremely unhappy because of people like you. No day passes where people aint talking about one-sided history lessons. Of course we do not want to reproduce, and fixating on work is a way to go out of depression. studies show all neighbours are more happy then we, why is that? hm? #2 I'm playing the guitar, spend time online and few years ago was a drummer in a few bands. we do know the importance of balance between work and leissure. just because things we do for fun don't match the others taste don't mean they're bad. and about children... right now we don't have the time to make them... working our asses of to safe greece, spain, italy, ireland... better said: the states with that better quality of life and all that big fun and so... 51% taxes ;-)
DasIllu 3 months ago
its pretty plain to say germans life only for work and duty. as i could say the british only eat fish&chips. ist's just one aspect. and since you don't always see us having fun doesen't we we don't have some. it's more like a food metaphore: if you got used to it, it starts to taste good. we organize in so called "vereinen" for fun, sports, sozial work, etc. and we have oure fun there. or having a beer after work with friends. -> #2
DasIllu 3 months ago
The "real" German does not obey a ruler, but a sense of duty. What is our responsibility? It is not the joy of life, not even the love. It merely is a duty. We HAVE to do this. We HAVE to do that. It is maybe a prussian duty. We are born out of ashes, we are born to serve. A british friend of mine once called me "pedantical Mr. Little shit". He is right. This duty of beeing pedantical is helpfull but it makes you crazy sometime because you do not find the the switcher in your mind to turn it off

iToni 3 months ago
@iToni And who is that, who is not doing the mingling..?
InconvenientTruth4U 1 month ago
@InconvenientTruth4U who ever has lived in germany probably realized that foreigners hang out mostly with other foreigners from other nationalitites. you hardly see a group of friends where all are german except one, because its not so easy to mingle in that sense. but u can find groups of people where most are foreigners and 1 or 2 are germans. i think this reflects that is harder to mingle among germans than around most of the other people.

When they were small I felt guilty that I couldn't buy all the stuff I thought they would like so I tried to compensate by creating 'adventures' and doing 'stuff'. By accident I think I ended up doing the things they loved and time was the best gift of all...on both sides.
