actually, the music and themes of the grateful dead music and its origins are quite the opposite of what you would find from a big government politician. the music and themes are closer to the tea party concepts of smaller governments and limiting the kind of ram down your throat taxation without representation illegality that Barack Obama is setting forth.
lol why is America so Conservative and backwards?? and they claim it to be the 'land of the free'?! haha, well, its the land of the free if ur a billionaire and don't wanna have any of ur money used to help others, so you can selfishly sit on it for years and years while people struggle through poverty.
obama supporters are eating their words now. i love dark star but when warren and phils children get shit cause after a million dollars is taxed in half. good job boys stick to music and leave political views out of it. what would Jerry do!!!
@redbullbundy u realise its taxed from the rich in order to support the poor who conservative america has normally taken a shit on in order for the rich to have a new luxury swimming pool or exotic bar in their 20,000 Acre gardens. Its about time America started to think about others. ALSO, the grateful dead have always been about the music, im sure they dont give a shit if some of their excess money is taken to help others.
what the fuck does the grateful dead have to do with some shady lying ass ANTI-AMERICAN nigger named barack hussain oboma . Lets bring up the racist reverend rite who barry attended his church for 20 + years. The fact that hussain oboma went to that church and after the media uncovered the preachers racist views and rants, and was still elected "so called president",, is just sickening. Makes me want to puke. FUCK OBOMA AND HIS RACIST WIFE! Its so obvious they HATE America.
I am no fan of Obama either, but I'll always be a Deadhead. Back in '04, I had my Bush bumper sticker next to my Dead sticker unapologetically...and yeah, I got some interesting remarks for that one. KI don't care- the Dead remain world class musicians, and have my utmost respect despite their liberal views.
Jesus a Redneck Deadhead huh? Not sure how I feel about that one. I mean you being a Deadhead is cool and all, but a stuck-in-the-past Republican is another thing.
I wish I was old enough to see them in the 60s and 70s. I saw them for the first time in 87 when I was 15 and it was the beginning of the real stadium era Dead. Didn't know much better at first being so young but stadium and hockey hall Dead shows did no justice. And them getting older and more burned out. 70s Dead is amazing. Would have loved to see them between 71-74 or 77.
I have tried topost a comment several times and am having pwoblems.... ANYWHO I saw Ratdog play the mall during Clinton's 1st inaugural activities, and rumour had it that the Grateful Dead played the White house that same day, so not sure this is the first time they have backed a candidate???
after reading some of these comments it is more than fairly obvious that these people are waaaayyyy to young to have caught any shows when garcia was here and i do not mean any of the 90's when he truly did not want to play grateful dead music anymore.i am glad i caught a few hundred shows when garcia played his heart out each and every night.and yes phil does play that bass like he invented it.
bro, exactly how experienced are you with the grateful dead to say someone else is not experienced?by your statement i bet you never caught the grateful dead 1 time. you need to get a grip .how would you even know what classic grateful dead is ?
Concerning the inaugural ball they'll be at Tuesday night, I know it was by invitation only, but was there a cost associated with it or were the tickets just given away?
I beg to differ on one count. This represents the first time the Dead have been together since 2004, not 2003. I was at their show in Marysville, CA, during the "Wave That Flag" tour. It was everyone except Jerry. It was the best post-Jerry configuration, save for maybe when they had Joan Osborne singing in 2002. Anyway, we had Phil, Bob, Billy, Mickey, along with Warren, Jeff Chimenti, and some kid I forget his name on keyboards. It was just unbelievable.
You're right...that WAS a great lineup in '03 and Joan Osborne did rock. I think I've got to give the post-Jerry nod to the 98 Other Ones with Bob, Phil, Mickey, Hornsby, Molo, Kimmock and Karan. They really had some of those bring-you-back nights.
The boys are still sounding great...and that includes Warren. He really has a great tone going here.
BTW, anyone who honestly believes the difference between a top end tax rate of 39.6% and 36% equals the difference between communism and capitalism is just a damned fool. I'm sorry...there's just no other way to say it.

Damn! The only thing that sucks is that they are putting this concert on for a former friednd of a terroist, Rev. GD America! and the Chicago communist party. Its a shame that the DEAD have stuped so low to support such a a fraud! Obama has communist ties. He will take all your money (b/c you are apparently too dumb to know what to do with it) and let the gov't decide who diserves it! If you don't want the gov'y to take over your life don't vaote for Cahirman Obama! Jerry wouldve never done this
Yes, a communist/socialist somehow got through the vetting process and is 6 days away from becoming president of the most powerful nation in the world. Right. I think he's gonna dump Biden & put Bin Laden in as his VP, too...

Congrats to the brave Navy Seals!
Btw, Obama was a typical misogynistic Muslim douchebag. He was killed standing behind a woman who was shielding him.
Now we need to exterminate the people who control the price of oil.....
and the women they're hiding behind :o)

Grateful for the G.D.!!
Speaking of the election:
OMG!!!
See how things change!!!
You know those McCain Girls on YouTube who were singing "It's Raining McCain" for McCain?
They're now singing for Obama!!! I swear it's them! I saw it on YouTube. Wait til you see how they're dressed!
They call themselves THE OBAMA MAMAS and they're singing a song called Obama Rocks (I think that's what it's called).
It's crazy!!! They even sound good. WTF?!!!
