I wish I was old enough to see them in the 60s and 70s. I saw them for the first time in 87 when I was 15 and it was the beginning of the real stadium era Dead. Didn't know much better at first being so young but stadium and hockey hall Dead shows did no justice. And them getting older and more burned out. 70s Dead is amazing. Would have loved to see them between 71-74 or 77.

I beg to differ on one count. This represents the first time the Dead have been together since 2004, not 2003. I was at their show in Marysville, CA, during the "Wave That Flag" tour. It was everyone except Jerry. It was the best post-Jerry configuration, save for maybe when they had Joan Osborne singing in 2002. Anyway, we had Phil, Bob, Billy, Mickey, along with Warren, Jeff Chimenti, and some kid I forget his name on keyboards. It was just unbelievable.

You're right...that WAS a great lineup in '03 and Joan Osborne did rock. I think I've got to give the post-Jerry nod to the 98 Other Ones with Bob, Phil, Mickey, Hornsby, Molo, Kimmock and Karan. They really had some of those bring-you-back nights.
