singapore zoo is one of the best zoo's in the world. The monkeys run free and they are protecting them from humans destroying thier habitat. Those ignorant people that are saying that this is unhealthy dont know what it is like giving up thier home. This is probaly the closest orangutans will get 2 home within 20 yearsand people dont apreciate what these zookeepers are doing for the world.
i came for holiday, and i saw an oragutan spinning around and then paused then fell back and another put a bag on him and rolled down the hill on the side, LOL
ah meng farewell..hope u can rest in peace u are older than most of us in human age(95 to 96) u have stay till 2008 and i hope u can be reborned to accompany us 4ever and ur granddaughter is gona call her baby Jr Ah Meng..Hope u will be happy ah meng...think u have already have a fun time in singapore and enjoy the times in Sg Zoo^_^ miss u hence i nvr meet u..I really very sad that u died..Ah meng REST IN PEACE Apple Happy Memories Elated New Girl !!
bio fuel has turned out to be more harmful than commercial fuel as the process takes up more energy. and for every orang utan sold as a pet 4-5 orangs die in the process. because when the mother is shot she falls and crushes the baby killing her too.
I have been there and it is a wonderful experience. Like the guy said, it's not a freak show, it's getting the message out to people about what's happening to their habitat. The animals are being very well looked after and it's a credit to the dedication of the staff
The way to show respect for these beautiful creatures is not confining them in a zoo, feeding them on human crockery and using them as a sideshow to bring in money. They should never have been taken from the wild. Shame on us!
Unfortunately 'the wild' you are talking about is being destroyed by human beings - not only they are losing their habitat, but also being poached - I think Singapore Zoo has a breeding program to keep the species alive - that's what you are seeing. Chances are they've never seen 'the wild,' neither have any chance of surviving when released back. It's sad but the reality.
I forgot to say: in Indonesia, their habitats are being destroyed by Palm Oil expansion (for bio-fuel and veg oil) as well as industrial logging (90% of timber from Indonesia are logged illegally). So in the name of CO2 reduction, bio-fuel is destroying a large forested areas around the globe. Again, it's sad but the reality. Thus people need to be aware of these destructive practices.
@tinamckeown Fuck you idiot. They seem pretty god damned happy in that zoo. You know what its like for orangutans in the "wild"? They have turn wars and eat each others young. They beat the living shit out of each other over mates and other shit. It SUCKS ASS in the wild for an orangutan, especially when that "wild" is being destroyed as we speak. Speaking of speaking. Think before YOU speak, dumb shit.
@tinamckeown All the first orang utans in the singapore zoo, including the one featured in this video (Ah Meng), were all illegal pets, confiscated and given a home in the singapore zoo. The zoo didn't take them from the wild.
my heart would just brake if thay were gone
