If you are ultimately innocent, but at the time it was reasonable to suspect you of having committed a crime (subjected to the necessity test), then the arrest is still lawful. Innocence isn't the test of whether an officer has made a false arrest, but whether there were grounds to suspect you of a crime, and that the arrest was necessary according to certain criterea. I imagine being arrested when you havent done anything must be stressful but the police are not omnicient.

we don't actually know what lead to this (it say in video that he asaulted a police officer - in hospital) who says he wouldnt again if he had the chance. but punches to the face are too much legs and arms maybe body but face is wrong
If you follow up on the event, you can find out what lead to the situation. The man was released without charge. The claims that an officer was hospitalised were not repeated, and the officers are under investigation for their actions, which are wholly unacceptable, even in the eyes of the UK governing bodies.
Do you really think a man who has hospitalised an officer will be released without charge ? No.
There can be no justification for the use of potentially lethal force for compliance.
You are suggesting that innocent people who are being arrested for no reason are not going to resist.
The question you should ask yourself is, as an innocent citizen, if an officer tried to arrest you for no reason, seeing as you are innocent, would you not resist ?
If not, WHY not ? I would. No-one arrests me if I am innocent. Anyone trying to arrest me, as an innocent man, is going to be told to stick it up their arse.
In general everybody resists arrest, guilty or not.
No. You can try and suggest that I should peacfully COMPLY with false accusations and attempts to detain me. But you will fail. I see no point in continuing this discussion.
If you are arrested for absolutely no reason, feel free to bow down to your civil servants. No skin off my nose.
I will not. I will attempt to discuss why I am innocent, and if that fails, then I will protest strongly and resist arrest as far as I am able to. I will then file for false arrest.
in this case It is over the top but some of you are saying that every cop is like this. Not true
Look at all the crimes resolved and all the good results drugs/gun/drink ect ect (not saying this is ok) but only a small group of officers are like this (very small)
the police are trained in something they call the 'Ways and Means Act', that is an off the record method of obtaining a result - conviction/caution at ALL COSTS, IRRESPECTIVE OF YOUR INNOCENCE OR GUILT..so 'just complying' because youve nothing to hide will likely result in you having several made up crimes put on your record, to help them boost their sick quotas..were just cattle they see ripe for processing..if they treat as like dogs as above soon they'll be swinging from lamposts!
As preditcted by the public, the police are using taser, for torture and compliance. For some reason, it seem they CAN now punch the shit out of people, too.
Presumably, if they can justify the taser, the punch is considered lesser.
They justify the use of taser by sayng "its less lethal than a firearm".
Does this mean that they would have shot this man, had they got firearms ?
I just prefer to know where I stand. Common sense.
Scoured the web today, looking for official guidelines on Taser use, and it's clear that the UK Police Authorities have actively removed links to previously published information. The direct links are now "Error 404, page missing" in abundance, but surprisingly enough, Google has come up trumps and I've found most of the appropriate docs.
Links to several are in the video description, and are well worth reading.
I have now located some definitive detail on the authorised use of Taser weapons in the UK by our Police officers:
PSNI Operational Use of Taser: Notes for Guidance on Police Use
The following statement is repeatedly made within the document:
"The test for the use of Taser is to be as follows: The use of Taser will be justified where the officer honestly and reasonably believes that it is necessary in order to prevent a risk of death or serious injury."
"The Home Secretary agreed on 24 November 2008 to allow Chief Officers of all forces in England and Wales, from 1 December 2008, to extend Taser use to specially-trained units in accordance with current Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) policy and guidance, which states that Taser can be used only where officers would be facing violence or threats of violence of such severity that they would need to use force to protect the public, themselves, and/or the subject(s)."
I think your approach is admirable. In addition I would hope that we would be able to enroll one of the major newspapers to do a major highlight of this growing trend. The media(newspapers) I know, as we all do, are controlled and manipulated, but perhaps we could target one of them and arrange a boycott of the publication in the event that they do not take up the fight. Take away their revenue and they will start to fold, also go to local radio stations, write to MP's, to Police Chiefs.
UK news stations were 'hot' on the subject yesterday, but seem to have 'dropped' the story today.
The more attention that can be brought to the underlying shift in use, that being a weapon intended as an alternative to live firearms, being used to force compliance, the better.
If the officers were armed with guns, and the suspect shot and killed when lying still on the ground, what would the reaction be.
Serve and protect ? But this is just 100% Police brutality. 4 Police he is on the floor form the first Taser and is in submission and and then the coward says Taser Taser Taser and give him one more and then coward number two punches him four times. They say he assaulted a officer .How can you believe them when they act like this? I cant see the British public putting up with this for long but it is a bit of a nanny state now they just might do. What happened to Great Britain ?
Secondly, if I witness such behaviour I will feel it my 'duty' to attempt to protect my fellow citizen from such attacks. My preferred route to achieve that would be to peacefully place myself between the victim and the aggressor.
If I personally was treated in such a manner, I would feel fully justified in using force to free myself and 'escape' such barbaric treatment.
I'd then go through any resulting legal process with a clear conscience.

If you are innocent you should not be arrested. Catch-22.
If I am innocent, and someone tries to arrest me, aka restrain and restrict my freedom, then I am going to resist.
In that scenario, they have nothing to charge me with in the first place.
I will charge them of false arrest.
