To get the same power out of my gsr as you get with an srt id almost have to spend the same amount of money to get it. I know i can buy a major POS but when considering a ncie interior, good motor, and aftermarket capability. Srt

nope that's where you are wrong. I race vipers, and I've well over 35,000. Car still feels, sounds and performs like new. I'm also over 400whp with stock internals. I must say, the srt-4 can definitely take a beating. With time yes it will require a build, but definitely not that soon.
Your Opinion, but the facts, the car does not perform like new, your fuel economy is crap, the SRT-4 begins to wheel hope extremely bad in the mid 300's. Those two facts alone show that it isn't anywhere close to performing like stock.

As far as how the SRT-4 makes its power. When modified w/out internals there is no difference under low or no boost, its when you get in the powerband that damage is being done, sure engines can work for a while under added boost, but if you do the accounting on cost of vehicle, cost of performance parts, your time to fix the parts that break, and the ennevtible BOOM from your added boost, you have just purchased yourself a brand new Viper.
I love honda and dodge. I own a civic and an srt-4. I love both cars. That's my final decision. I drive my civic for economical use, and my srt for the occasional fun drive. No doubt civic are easy cars to make fast for a way less cost. I love the ek and ez hatch, and I must say, they do have a lot of potential too, if willing to make fast the easy and cheaper way.

On top of that, with water/methanol you'll notice the motor being suplemented for better received power. Also, with any motor, beating on it will cause wear and tear. So like I said, time will tell. Show more than one statistical proof with numbers of srt-4s dying out around 35,000miles, and I will believe you. So far I havn't had any problems.

The fact is, Your doubling the output of the motor from stock. The engine is designed from the factory to run for 100,000 miles. So right off the bat under modification your cut the life of the engine in half.
When you race it, you then cut the life of the motor down even faster. BTW in real racing, the motor only lasts 1 race before it is rebuilt

@pier456 OK man im completely on both sides here I have an integra gsr and am looking at getting an srt-4 right now...with that being said the best thing I've noticed about the srt's is the absolute ease of upgrading, they respond so well to bolt ons its rediculous. To get the same power out of my gsr as you get with an srt id almost have to spend the same amount of money to get it. I know i can buy a major POS but when considering a ncie interior, good motor, and aftermarket capability. Srt

600 HP for $85,000... Thats a bargain. Thats 600 hp no matter what, no boost required, and it will last for 100,000 miles (probably a lot more), an SRT-4 pushing 400hp would die in 35,000...
Whats more, the tuned Race version of the current Viper is the record holder around the Nuremburg ring, yes FASTER then a GTR... When it comes down to price/performance, your right, but at the end of the day, you park a Viper or a Neon in your garage, but if your all about price/perf. then buy a corvette

nope that's where you are wrong. I race vipers, and I've well over 35,000. Car still feels, sounds and performs like new. I'm also over 400whp with stock internals. I must say, the srt-4 can definitely take a beating. With time yes it will require a build, but definitely not that soon.

Your Opinion, but the facts, the car does not perform like new, your fuel economy is crap, the SRT-4 begins to wheel hope extremely bad in the mid 300's. Those two facts alone show that it isn't anywhere close to performing like stock.

As far as how the SRT-4 makes its power. When modified w/out internals there is no difference under low or no boost, its when you get in the powerband that damage is being done, sure engines can work for a while under added boost, but if you do the accounting on cost of vehicle, cost of performance parts, your time to fix the parts that break, and the ennevtible BOOM from your added boost, you have just purchased yourself a brand new Viper.

I love honda and dodge. I own a civic and an srt-4. I love both cars. That's my final decision. I drive my civic for economical use, and my srt for the occasional fun drive. No doubt civic are easy cars to make fast for a way less cost. I love the ek and ez hatch, and I must say, they do have a lot of potential too, if willing to make fast the easy and cheaper way.

by the way, your opinion stays best with you. With an 8:1 compression ratio the motor strives boost for creating efficient power. On top of that, with water/methanol you'll notice the motor being suplemented for better received power. Also, with any motor, beating on it will cause wear and tear. So like I said, time will tell. Show more than one statistical proof with numbers of srt-4s dying out around 35,000miles, and I will believe you. So far I havn't had any problems.

That's funny you would want statistical proof of logic that is evident with even the most basic comprehension of engineering.
The fact is, Your doubling the output of the motor from stock. The engine is designed from the factory to run for 100,000 miles. So right off the bat under modification your cut the life of the engine in half.
When you race it, you then cut the life of the motor down even faster. BTW in real racing, the motor only lasts 1 race before it is rebuilt

By the way mr.knowitall, the car is not all Produced in the US. It's driven due to mitsubishi components under the hood.
