  • I now refer to the symbol that Prince once changed his name to as "that funny looking thing." Maybe that's what the media should have dubbed him instead of "the artist formerly known as Prince." Or maybe they should've called him "The artist formerly known as Prince, now known as that funny looking thing."

  • two people don't know why that funny lookin thing in the air is

  • " It's the letter q. Do you hear?!"

  • Watch the vocaloid verison

  • So how DID that guy hang that Funny Looking Thing in the air like that?

  • Those two remind me of The Odd Couple :-D

  • Wow... that's old.... but pretty cool. Too bad they don't air stuff like this now.....

  • Haha. Oh man. I love these cartoons. I remember this one. Classic.

  • This is funny!!

  • The man with the hat on that talks about the letter Q sounds like Gary Owens.

  • The guys in this cartoon are funny looking things.

  • "You're a funny lookin' thing" LMAO. Over twenty years later and that line still cracks me up!

  • Oh, this would be so FUNNY censored!

  • One of my favorite cartoons from Sesame Street. ^^

  • I can't hear ya bert - I have a banana in my ear.

  • you a funny looking thing! :D

they never woulda said that nowadays

  • I remembered this skit word for word since I saw it back when I was a kid. It's THAT GOOD! Thanks for the memories!

  • I wish someone could find the clip where this cartoon man was angry and they were trying to tell him about the letter S and kept say "That's Stupid" I thought that one was funn but can't find it anywhere!

  • I think I remember this somewhat. Sesame Street used to put on a lot of cartoons featuring two people squabbling about details while discussing a letter. 'J' is the other one I remember most. One quick question: 1. Who does the voice of the man with the mustache? Sounds like the 'voice' in 'Do You Know What Backwards Means?' (e.g. 'We'll show you what backwards means!') Also, 'How do you do that?' 'Do What?' also appears in the 'backwards' clip.

  • HOWDJAHDOTHAT

  • At last I finally found out that Jim Thurman was the one who provided the "grumpy old man" voice that I heard in various kids shows. Unfortunately, I also found out that Thurman had passed away recently. :(

He was a prolific guy, who voice-acted and wrote for tons of different shows: Sesame Street, Electric Company, Roger Ramjet, Square One, Fat Albert, and much more.

  • He had such a great voice for the part. The casting for this was spot on. As was timing.

A much loved little skit. Thanks.

  • Three cheers for Jim Thurman!

    awesome voice

  • Did Jim Thurman do both voices or only one of them?

  • I think it was Gary Owens who played the man wearing the hat

  • Very cute little video!

  • This is one of The funniest Sesame Street cartoons ever. It is on The Sesame Street Old School DVD. I rewindit and watch it all the time.

  • Gotta love Jim Thurman.

  • @wattamack4 Yeah, I love him best as Mr. Glitch

  • This clip's a funny-looking thin, but I mean it in the best way possible.
