I'd also suggest you get out of NM. I lived in Alamogordo and my feeling is the only parts of the state that are just the tiniest bit gay-friendly are Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces. And even then it's sketchy. People still get bashed and murdered there too though. My advice: Move to L.A. or S.F. or N.Y. or Key West or some big city with a gay community. Life's too short to live someplace where you can't be yourself and happy.

I'd also look into getting a concealed weapons permit too.

I think you're wasting your time using the God/Jesus angle. The reich-wing Christians will always hate us - that's just their hypocrisy. They preach love but practice hate. The only way we'll advance any is to stand up & DEMAND our basic rights. Until we do that the homophobic fascist Nazi scum will continue to shit on us & love every minute of it.
