Haven't driven the 2005, but I drove the newest one, and I hated it. It understeered like mad. The Evo I do enjoy, got to drive one of the new ones (Really wanting an Evo IX more though), and you're right, it handles great. It's also AWD. As for the RX-8, I'll use a track everyone knows, the Top Gear Test Track.

And with the exception of the M3 (haven't driven it, but it always gets great reviews) all the Europeen equivalents of the CTS-V I thought were just abhorrent in comparison (Handling-wise). Same goes for compacts, I enjoyed the Fiesta more than the Mini - which is almost double it's price - as well as the Golf and Fit. And I preferred the Focus over the Civic and Forte.

There are no aftermarket performance parts for any FWD Northstar V8-powered Cadillacs that are compatible with its stock PCM, the only options you have are intake, exhaust & maybe the transmission. There are a few guys that can modify your PCM to gain 1st gear with the traction control disabled but so far only one person have managed to install a turbo in a stock Cadillac STS and the cost is in 5-figures.

Tim Allen spent $150,000 on his Deville and gained... 98hp.

The only way to get that lumpy idle and the sound associated with it is to get a higher-profile camshaft. They do make high-performance parts for the Northstar V8 but none of it works with the factory PCM. You can go to your local performance shop and get high-flow exhaust put on to make your car louder but that's about it.

@sambarros Bullshit, V8s are the only engines to make 8000hp+. No import can do that. See drag racing videos. With enough billet steel parts and upgraded diffs and gearboxes, with 3500rpm stalls for instance you can easily achieve 1000hp at the wheels. Try that with your ricer. And it's cheaper to boot. You can't get early 13s from a N/A tuner, but you can from a modded V8.

Look at big power generators for an example ;) Also, plenty of 1000+ HP four cylinder engines; search for "AMS Evo" for a sampling. A few in the 7s too. That interests me as much as women's basketball, after all, I like my cars to turn and stop, not just to go fast, which is why I have a Supercharged Corvette, which is, incidentally, much more powerful than this one...
